Yet another great tournament at WNF with 33 participants, including great players such as XBlades, Online Tony, Aris, Wonder Chef, and Tyrant. Congratulations to Aris for taking the tournament with his always more than impressive Deathstroke, and Wonder Chef for getting 2nd with his 5 day Black Adam and 2 day old Superman. Impressive showing!

You've actually made me consider picking up Cyborg. I always liked him on Teen Titans, and I feel my current characters are a bit too blue-eyed.

Do you play him on stick? Any advice for IANB? You can't use the Kabal shortcut from MK9, and 8746 comes out a bit high unless I'm just doing it too slow?

In this game you need to go top tier.

I can go my favorite character and go 0-2 (Final Strike) or 1-2 (WNF 2.5) or I can use Superman or Bladam and get 2nd place.

As much as I like using my favorite characters, you just can't if you want to win. Can't blame people for choosing good characters.

Then why do i see tournament quality players constantly shoving nonsense down my throat about how balanced this game is.

Because these tournament players use the top tier characters and try to big up the rest of the cast so that their character does not get nerfed, and the others don't get buffed #clearasday

Yeah. I do wonder what kind of design decision went into those two characters though.

Fullscreen zoning that's good and leads to combos? Safe divekicks that are plus for meter? Advancing normals that can be made safe on block and give you a year to confirm? Overhead normals that are safe on block? 50%+ damage? Armor breaking? 60% corner damage? Rose Ultra 2 every 10 seconds? Hitconfirmable bonus damage mid combo?

How about Bane? Give him one hit of armor and then a huge damage dealt and damage taken debuff for using it. Lobo? How about a trait that gives him a decent 50-50, but is unsafe to even use on hard knockdown? Harley? She has a trait?

Bingo You said it man exactly what i feel they keep saying o its balanced but look the same guys popping up everywere we do not want another MK for f**** sake

Obviously i realize this but its laughable and makes warching some of these guys even more unbearable. Seeing Tom Brady make a " shazaam is one of the most dangerous characters in the game video" is a slap in the face to the community. As to not sound to negative shoutouts to krayzie and NYC Fab enjoyed watching you both.

here we go lol. bane has great mix ups and level 1 venom makes him a tank... the debuff is barely existant for that one. harley has some good zoning and tricks also she is block adv off a lot up close and has good ji2. lobo only has a bad name because reo made a thread complaining on him. hes actually pretty good and many agree. there are no bad chars in this game

I know right all those rhings you said are true thats why those 3 characters ar so well represented in the tourament scene...oh wait ive never seen them at a tournament. Stop with the garbage up playing please its disrespectful to the community.

no need to be so rude. disrespectful? lol. im showing ppl new ideas and better improve there game with chars people think are "bad". just because ppl dont like those characters doesnt mean theyre bad. ive fought many good bane harelys and lobos online. they exist out there u know. besides how can u support someone like reo on this who puts a char as bad 1 week after release or makes a super early tier list with tom when the game not been out for a month.

I'm going to respond to your thread about Lobo in a bit, because I'm playing Lobo, and while I'm not sure he is bottom bottom tier I think a lot of the stuff you say makes him strong is misrepresented.

(Also his trait sucks no two ways about it.)

But using online to justify character balance over high level tournaments is about the worst idea ever. Lots of characters can hang online better than they can offline due to a combination of people being in general pretty awful overall online, and because the input lag in this game makes a lot of dumb stuff stronger online.

For instance, anti-air is really difficult online because of input delay, so Harley gets way better since she has a great jump 2 that leads to meterless damage. Lobo command grab setups (especially off a dash) and overheads become way harder to react to. Those are both 30 frames. No good player gets hit by 30 frame things from neutral offline. But online. . . hells yeah.

Then you have Bane, whose offense relies on almost completely impossible to screw up meaty setups which require well timed reversals to beat. (same goes for Lobo grabs on knockdown)

So no I don't think having seen good characters do well online and never having seen them do well in tournament tells me anything about how viable they are in high level play.

What Tom and Reo says has no influence on my opinions whatsoever. Hen i watch a stream or a tournament its clear despite what people like you Tom or Reo who te top tier characters are. The fact Harley Bane and Lobo (among many others) are being ignored in the tournament scene (even my unstreamed locals in tampa) speaks volumes to the balance of this gane right now. More than half the cast is being ignored in high level play yet i have people constantly spouting nonsense about how viable everyone is. I mean this isnt rocket science if 3 characters are being played by 70% of the high level players and more than half the cast is being ignored completely then something is wrong.

i watched this long enough to see krayzie spam all day with cyborg. i turned it off immediately after. you know his infinite is broken and you still choose to use it. have you no honor? no dignity? is it really that important to win that youll use something that ridiculously broken?
