EMP CD Jr. Wins Next Level Battle Circuit #19

For the second week in a row, grand finals of the Next Level Battle Circuit came down to a hotly contested series between veterans EMP CD JR. and AGE Chris G. In Winners' Finals, Jr. sent Chris G to losers with a dominating Superman performance. Although NYC Fab threatened to overtake Chris with a very impressive Lex Luthor, Chris eventually prevailed in a close set in Losers' Finals to make his way to the championship match.

Chris was able to reset the bracket; but CD Jr. looked strong as he punished Chris at every opportunity and eventually overwhelmed him. This marks Jr.'s second win in a row at WNF, and sets up a bid for dominance of the East Coast heading into East Coast Throwdown V this weekend.

Of special note this week is Fab, who caught everyone by surprise with his unique and highly aggressive Lex Luthor play.

In the grand finals, when Chris G resets the bracket. In the second round he gets hit to a different stage in Metropolis. On rooftop then Chris G jumps himself in the corner and eats few F23 xx Breaths ... FEW OF THEM, without pushblocking.

Chris G is a great player, but overall he did some weird shit in that tournament. It's amazing that he made it so far - and he does it always, because of his great fundamentals, his superior throws and good combo execution, but damn - I often still wonder how he can make it so far, since often he ... simple plays like shit.

That super breath was looking pretty safe at the end of combos when blocked but great matches its good to see players like Chris G play Injustice because it gives more hype having a great player at another fighting game play Injustice at a high level.

Well it comes down to a few factors. For one all fighting games have good match ups and bad ones. Another thing is if your opponent becomes to comfortable fighting against your character it might be time to switch it up so your a little less predictable. In the case of the last match im pretty sure Chris felt he needed to do something because he didnt feel confident with the way things were going with Black Adam.

Hell it could also come down to having a mental edge when it comes to facing certain characters. Its always a good thing to have a few characters instead of just one in your pocket.

Don't really agree with this. After a certain period of time in a FG's life, the vast majority of top players will have specialised into 1 character. Many maintain pocket characters but when the going gets tough, they default to their main.

Early in a game's life it is different when changing the matchup can help you more than being dedicated to 1 character.

For example, I stomp many people with HG but struggle to beat them with my main.

Dat armchair commentary. Why havent I seen you at any tournaments? You seem to know so much about the right and wrong way to play the game.....

You haven't seen me, because I live on the other side of the world. And even if I wouldn't, you wouldn't see me, because I'm bad at fighting games.

I'm still going to state the obvious. Bite me, you permanently salty, bitching bitch.

Obvious eh?

Things change when you're in the hot seat at an offline major. I'm sure ChrisG had something brewing in his mind that didn't pan out how he wanted.

Unfortunately for those here on TYM who have been and do go to tournaments with top level players, those who don't will always "state the obvious" from their no risk armchair, safely away from any real scrutiny from the higher level players.

Now if only top level players could get safely away from low level casuals who think they know what they're talking about...

1. It's Chris G we're talking about. That guy has been at more tournaments than Vagrant and you combined.
2. There is a difference between jitters and doing weird stuff, because you don't practice for that game (for any game in Chris G's case).

Rewatch the Chris G gameplay and then tell me that he played to his fullest. He didn't and I mentioned that.

So much variety of characters chosen at high levl play. Its so grwat having 3 chadaxters to chose from omg will it be black adam superman or green lamtern. 3 characters of 25 being used can be nothing but good for this game.SMH

And you're judging a top player with a confirmed 0% experience to back yourself up. Maybe he made a mistake, maybe he had a plan and he messed it up. Either way he reset the bracket against another top player in grand finals and here you sit saying "Hey ChrisG, you messed up!"

I think he's aware.

thats not true. there is more then 3 chars being played at tourneys because i see it at all the time. jr tweeted that black adam is not that great and that its mainly ppl with not much mu experience falling for him. superman is good but hey its superman it only makes sense that he should be that good. its just a combination of a lot of good players using certain characters really
