yeah, the san antonio people are my friends, sorry if you dont really play enough to know me, but i'm sortof an active player nationally and most people around here do. But i have nothing to prove to you since ive been to your scene multiple times and you've never been there. btw if you ever do go out to a tournament tell matt or raul what's up after you're done taking their deek.
REALLY DUDE?! REALLY!? I hope that is some kind of inside joke or else my respect for you has gone way down the crapper.

it doesnt exist to some players apparently.

Thank you based Dick for those idiots. and it can be blocked by 5 characters
I don't understand. You mean 5 characters have to take the chip damage or 5 characters can avoid it? Or does it mean that it won't connect on 5 (the big guys presumably) characters because of their hitboxes?

5 can avoid it because the last hit whiffs crouching and I can get punished for attempting it

Well I don't know you so I don't take it as an inside joke. You're more than welcome to explain to me in person. Hopefully I'll laugh
inside joke with the SA scene. if you dont know what i'm referencing then that's not my fault that you lie for being from SA. In that case i apologize, though i feel it was a fair assumption to make

Did someone really just say SFIV has no matchups worse than 6-4? Really? Really now come on people, character balance isn't as fucked as MK9 *Once again not indicative of a game being bad or good* but that game has a ton of 7-3s, some 8-2s, and a few 9-1s *My sympathies to any T. Hawks who run into Blanka and Juri*.

Like someone said earlier, stop faking witht he hate for MK to look cool now that Injustice is the hot shit on the block.

I sent you a PM cause we're getting way off the subject of the thread and I would not like it to be closed.

Pig Of The Hut empirically disproves this. I've seen this argument a lot recently, but it's a non-sequitur (or maybe a straw man... not really sure, but it's a logical fallacy) argument because perception of balance and difficulty have literally nothing to do with each other. I think the gap between the good and the bad is much bigger in this game than in MK9.
Sorry, but when i cant even clash with "tournament viable character" grundy because it'll leave me full screen and whatever health i got back i'm just going to lose (and then some) getting back in, this time without meter that i so desperately need, then there's a problem. When negative edge is still on with RC off, there's a problem, when i finish your first health bar with d1 and you turn into rubber and bounce full screen before rd2 there's a problem. When there's characters who are + on all of their strings on block and still have exceptionally good zoning (looking at you nightwing, pushblock doesnt matter because his projectiles are plus 20 on block, wtf) there's a problem. when interactables get in the wat of the camera or freeze your character completely, there's a problem. When you cant b3 because the level transition does less damage than your combo and screws you out of the work you did to put them in the corner, there's a problem. When certain characters' traits are wasted buttons and other traits are game changing, there's a problem. When most crossups are completely ambiguous (thus it's not a skill to block correctly, it's just guessing right), there's a problem.
Ok, so MK9 has meter drain (dont know for sure if that's out of inj), input bug (correct me if i'm wrong, but that's already been confirmed to be in inj, right), and a ton of 6-4 matchups... so? that's 3 problems. calling them major would be an overreaction because there's such specific circumstances and the yomi game in mk is fleshed out enough that bad matchups can be overcome and it's common knowledge for how to do so. Injustice at this point has way more bugs and problems than mk at this point.

Also Pig Of The Hut, i was sorta hoping that you would respond to this idiot, but i guess not all dreams come true, lol:

Also, as my own response, here's a list of characters that have been top 8 at a major in the last year: 1) kabal, 2) kenshi, 3) kun lao, 4) cyrax, 5) kitana, 6) cage, 7) jax, 8) smoke, 8) skarlet, 8) sheeva, 8) kano(? BlackBryan were you top 8 at WB?), 8)sub zero, 8) scorpion, 8) kang, 8) sonya, 8) freddy, 8) sektor, 8) Reptile, 8) shang, 8) mileena. Oh you're right, only 8 characters... dumbass.

and it's these types of responses that keep me coming back to the injustice forums, lol

Top 16, not top 8. But to be clear about me and my involvement in this thread;

I DO NOT give ANY Fucks about balance, bugs, worthless buttons, the clash system, the breaker system, brokenness, or which game is better than the other.

I play both of these games for the following reasons;

1. The mechanics speak my language. The first game I played was MK1 on the Sega Genesis, and since then I've converted the system to muscle memory.
2. Both DC and NRS know what I like in story lines. Say what you will, EVERY Batman movie has been boss as fuck since the beginning of Batman movies. Not to mention that since childhood I've been on the "Saturday and Sunday cartoons usually followed by playing MK in some fashion habit."
3. I prefer realism in my graphics and gameplay. Most other FG's have too much of a cartoon-ie feel.
4. Call of Duty got super boring.
5. I can't believe they're really going to throw out a new COD game this year. I mean, fuckin' try or something, amirite?
6. I thrive on salt. LBSH, this is the only place to satisfy my sodium addiction, short of raping and pillaging villages in North Korea.
7. Gay guys are hilarious. I'm a male [ban incoming] hag.
8. These reasons lost solidity after after reason #3.

Now, continue creating my salt.

tl;dr

Being balanced does not make a game great. Why do people just keep assuming the more games are balanced the better they will be? Games from day 1 that sold the most and are the most popular were more broke than MC Hammer

That's nothing short of arrogant. Justin Wong recently did the same thing w/Vanilla MvC3, said his opinion on the game when it came out and turned out he was dead wrong. So yes, time reveals all
Both these things are myths. Often repeated myths but still.

First off MvC2 and 3rd Strike are horribly unbalanced games that have been popular a long time. This is true. That doesn't mean that's what people want. Both were released at the tail end of the fighting game 90s and they were the only viable games during the 10 year drought until SFIV. Don't think people love having to choose between Chun and Yun or sticking to one of four characters in MvC2.

Second MvC2 worked by accident. There's a lot of great comments from the estimable Mike Z on the issue, but MvC2 basically worked out because in the god tier you still have all the basic playstyles represented. You have Zoning (Cable), Hard Rushdown (Magneto), Soft Rushdown/Hit and Run (Storm) and Spacing/Heavy play (Sentinel). That was a happy accident and allowed for players who wanted to play a particular type of game to still play it even when they couldn't play the character they most liked.

Second I think even if you could work out the sales over time, I believe SFIV outsold both and that's a game that has pretty good balance. In fact the times when people have enjoyed it the most and the tournament scene has been most healthy is when the game was at its most balanced with SSFIV and AE2012. In fact people are happy the game is getting yet another balance pass.

As for the Justin thing that's completely wrong. I could trawl through his twitter, but he was an early defender of leaving Sentinel as is, and produced a ton of videos showing both Sentinel's weaknesses and Wolverine's strengths. In fact he was one of the first people to declare that Wolverine was tip top tier and not mid as a lot of early players thought.

The only thing he didn't predict correctly was the tier shift caused by the DHC Glitch, but seeing as how that was a glitch that really did nothing except make it extraordinarily simple to kill people with one bar (even by Marvel standards) I don't see how it was a positive.

Check the date on this if you don't believe me:

Finally if you love unbalanced games, good for you. I can see you play Superman and "Bane." (Wink Wink) But personally I don't like losing my matches at the character select. I can live with some nasty matchups but suggesting that a game is better if the top tier invalidates the bulk of the cast seems a bit silly.

Plus isn't it a waste to have all those other characters on the select screen? It coulda been $15 if you only got Black Adam, Superman, and Aquaman. (Assuming the going rate of $5 a character.)

this thread is also very silly considering MK9 is over two years old and Injustice hasn't been out for a month.

Pants on head retarded there
