Iron Man 3 General Discussion (discussing its negative reviews and why you didn't like it) Spoilers

I saw it last night and thought it was meh, somewhat enjoyable and good but nothing id want to see again.

1-100 Id say 65% (using rotten tomatoes scoring system)

I thought the Mandarin twist was funny actually but then in the end for me it ended up being a disappointing surprise. They were very coy on what temp it took for those Super Humans to blow up. They seemed to randomly throw in the VP thing at the end. Idk just seemed "ehh" ok

Hoping Star trek, great gatsby (aka White Boy Problems), That huge robot movie and superman are more memorable

Gotta say I agree, All these people going on about how it was way better than the second one story wise and just as good as the first. I personally liked the second one more than this one. It just seemed like nothing much was going on. Except for his house blowing up and the the battle at the end which was kind of cool visually but really had no build up except for guys going ohh I'm evil and used to be an amputee but now have super powers. Nothing much really happened. All the villains were kind of forgettable for me. The Mandarin twist was kind of funny but a bit disappointing too. Also maybe it's because I don't have any kids but when they shove child actors in our faces for no reason except for "aww they are so cute helping super heroes" just annoys me more than anything. It's like a bad hollywood gimmick they throw in when they can't think of other interesting characters. I do like the fact that Tony Stark was kind of mean to him though.

They made the mandarin into a fucking joke in the movie. I was looking forward to seeing a real well known villain from the iron man series. That right there really pissed me off that i went to see the movie. I will admit as always the fight scenes and graphics are always sick looking. But the fact they made tony starks #1 villain into some kind of a joke character and have iron man fight some dude who only been in about 4 issues of the comics was very sad to me. This movie could have been god like if they had the mandarin the way he suppose to be and lets us see him use all his rings.

It was way overhyped and I was expecting something different from the trailers. The movie became somewhat comedic in the middle after the Mandarin twist happened Also it had some parts that dragged too long and were really forgettable like the time Tony spent with the kid. They should also have explained the VP's role and involvement more than just showing him kissing his amputee daughter and implying that he is with the bad guys.Despite all that I enjoyed the acting very much, Downey Jr was at his best, Pearce and Cheadle were really good too. I definitely want to see Downey Jr reprise the role again in the Avengers 2 or another Ironman sequel

For me it's a 70%

Didn't he need the glowy thing in his chest to keep the shrapnel away from his heart, yet in the end of 3 they just remove them with a simple surgery. Is there something I'm missing or is it as dumb as I think it is? It was just really meh, I saw it in 3D and I despise 3D overall so that made the movie even worse for me. It's not a good film.

E: Also the kid seemed kind of unnecessary.

Yeah really he's got these godly powers in his rings and he's a martial arts expert, not some doofy actor who likes getting high. They would have certainly needed to tone down the scale of his power rings otherwise he would seem impossible to beat. But still this version of the Mandarin (as a villain himself, not necessarily story wise) was almost as bad as what they did to Venom in Spider-man 3.

He probably could have removed the shrapnel at any time when he got back from the middle east, but didn't because he liked having the arc reactor in his chest, as it was an easy way to power his suits, and it made him unique.

As for the Mandarin, there was really no way they would ever use a proper comic book Mandarin.

He was dying of paladium poisoning in the second one though, if it was that easy he should have just done it to stop himself from dying.

So he liked having the possibility of his reactor shutting down and dying? K. You got to admit man, it's pretty dumb.

Stark magnet technology is obviously the best shit out there. Notice he is using his own power source for that surgery. And surgical innovations probably happened in the years since the accident, making it less risky.

And considering this site slurped down that shit known as Injustice story mode and then asked for seconds, I don't see how this funny and smartly written film can seriously be criticized.

It fucking sucked. The Mandarin thing was a huge spit in the face to every comic book fan out there. You have one of the coolest villains ever, tease him with promos/trailers and then fail to deliver. I thought the first 30 mins or so were great, then it just went to absolute shit. I give up on this franchise. IM1 was amazing, IM2 was shitty, and this one is even worse because they took an awesome premise and fucked up it beyond repair. We're talking Spider-Man 3 bad. Might be time for another reboot...

I played the injustice story to unlock stuff, that was about it. What exactly was so amazingly written about this story though? There's a terrorist, Tony says he's going to attack him, they blow up his house, he loses his stuff and people think he's dead, he meets an annoying kid. The mandarin is an actor instead of his actual arch rival, the real villain is someone else, didn't they do that plot line in every Final Fantasy video game ever created and every single Saw movie? He fights the bad guys and wins. The only thing I didn't see coming was the Mandarin twist mostly because I thought they would make him an actual respectable villain. My bad for thinking he'd be bad ass.

And for my final complaint the song at the start of the movie that dance music shit about everything being blue, I hate that fucking song.

Oh ya your right, I must have blocked that movie from my mind, guess science had a recent breakthrough.

Tony Stark is an arrogant dumbass.

It was bad but nothing can touch Spider-man 3 level of awful, At least there was no singing and dancing in coffee shops by emo Peter Parker in IM3.

We are to believe that kid got that suit recharged??

The movie was so cheesy, ok all of them are cheesy but my goodness this went from 0-60.

I hated what they did to Mandarin, they do all this build up and then he's a joke. No, I didn't expect him to be close to the comics, but come on man that was close to Transformers levels of stupid. At the end you find out he was actually the prissy white guy and that just pissed me off even more. You don't take the most badass Ironman villain and make him a complete joke like this.

Overall, the rest of the movie was just all over the place. The story was meh, but so many people who saw this shit don't read comics and just wanna see a braindead superhero action flick anyways. They dunno who Mandarin is, they dunno anything other than what the movie tells them.

Best part of the movie was the Hulk Buster cameo along with all the other suits just for fan service of people who may have actually read something years ago.

from my perspective i dont know a damn thing about iron man comics or who mandarin is in comics but i can imagine from what you're saying how pissed id be if in superman Zod turned out to be an actor who was a hobo and needed a score for some cocaine and fixed hired by Kryptnoian government to portray a villain.

Mandarin is pretty much Iron Man's Zod. And they made him a bitch for that pretty boy lava guy. A movie is only as good as its villain, especially a superhero movie. What really pissed me off was the promise it showed in the beginning. Those terrorist Mandarin promos were awesome. If they continue this franchise for the love of god let Favreau direct. These other guys don't know wtf they're doing.
