IGNs Review

The people who review fighters at sites like this don't fully understand the game at a high level. The review is really for the casual gamer that wants to play a super hero fighter, and merely touches on some aspects that are geared towards the hardcore. When you step back and take a look at the bigger picture the FGC is just a small part of the user base so I don't blame them for not fully catering to us.
Exactly

They aren't writing these reviews for people like us. The people who care about "how the game will evolve a year from now" are already on sites like these mocking these reviews for not being in the know. These reviews are written for people who only play these games casually. The stage intractables and Deathstrokes dominance will be a problem for people who just want to throw down with their friends on the weekends and don't have the inclination to spend hundreds of hours learning matchups. They don't care about the metagame, all they want is to be satisfied with the product they just spent $60 on. Not an unreasonable expectation, if you ask me.

Remember, these reviews aren't for you.

I think he might be referring to online modders who alter the games to give them an unfair advantage (one hit kills and such)? Idk I couldn't really interpret most of his post.
I've never encountered that in any fighting game ever, I've never encountered hackers in gaming in general on Xbox...

in marvel pokes may as well just kill you. just skip all the filler.

You basically always die to one hit in that game. no?

Me neither, if Microsoft is good at one thing, it's insta-banning any kind of modders on XBL. And developing tools for such purposes is almost impractical unless there is a community dedicated to the cause. Like when modding was rampant in Halo 2 lol

It's really strange they that would consider those 100% combo videos using the stage on training dummies as a reason to question the balance of the game. You'd think someone would...you know, base something like that off their actual playing experience.

The review doesn't seem to reflect their score very well. By IGN standards it's very good but it seems like it should have got higher numbers based on the praise they gave it.

8.2 Sounds fair. It is a good game! This community of course will be biased...
The game is quite good, especially for a FG....But it isn't like it is Bioshock or anything like that

So far I am enjoying the game my only complaint the story seens short gameplay wighs. Ive gotten 70 percent done in less in a hour. Granted I skiped the movie scenes. I like the mini games so im quite sure wht some sites like comicvine.com is complaining about it. Im pretty newbish at fighting games but It gets better over time short period of time.

I suck with ares...
I rock with cycborg,deathstroke

many seem to complain that umvc got 9/10.
As they should. No story mode. Only , arcade and online and short hero and heralds mode.. ridiclious infiinties might as well put the game down once someone starts one
A huge character reduction ..

As a casual gamer, all I can say is..... YES. I don't want to wait "for the game to develop". I'm not planning on taking this to tournaments and stuff.

It's still great and I'm having a great time with it. But the complaints are valid, for the most part.

The only reviews I take somewhat serious is game informer, and they gave it a 9/10 which is decent. Only thing that confused me was their only real complaint was that they didn't like the wager system. That one thing completely drops the score a letter grade? Lol
