How worried are you that the Injustice netcode will be a letdown?

Are we sure it is the net code that is the problem?

I don't care how good they make it, it will always have some input latency. Your inputs have to be sent to a server and then get a response back before anything can happen on screen. I'm amazed it works as fast as it does honestly.
No server involved in game play for Mk... its peer to peer.

I think it all depends if they used some of that money from MK to set up a dedicated server farm for the game instead of using peer to peer.

However, I'm not relying on the netcode nor am I expecting it to be any good.. would just ,be nice if it was.
:facepalm: why would they route inputs thru a server then to the other player... that could only make things worse.

Good netcode can definitely make a difference, but anyone with a shitty connection needs to understand that there's only so much the netcode can do.
We're not talking about players conexion here, but about the netcode.

SF4 netcode => great
mk9 netcode => broken.
injustice netcode => ?????

That's what he meant. No more no less.

I'm not expecting anything from NRS, I'm just waiting to see it. I remember Ed Boon saying before mk9 release : "the online is better than SF4". lolz.
Now they are saying "the online is better than mk9" omfg... and even if it's true, it doesn't mean the online is good (it couldn't be worse than mk9 anyway..).

Btw, the stage transition, budokai style specials will make it lag as fuck imo. Just watch what's happening with somes stages animations on mk9. I'm godamn scared Y_Y

I can't think of one real-world example where that has proven to be the case. Peer-to-peer is the console standard because it's cheaper for publishers.

People also need to understand that netcode is a gigantic beast. As a programmer I can tell you that Socket programming is one of the worst things to write when performance isn't a critical aspect.. let alone when it is.

I know the Gaming industry is competitive and all but it's hard for me to understand how in 2013 companies can't share ideas/tricks/tactics amongst each other about this kind of stuff.
What if Capcom, Namco, ArcSysWork and NRS got together and brainstormed about how to develop the "Ultimate" netcode?
I know it's farfetched but....

When it comes to GGPO there's A LOT a good netcode can do, GGPO expands the playable ping range so much. Of course it can't fix bad connections but it can definitely help.

There is no legit excuse for a fighting game not to have a good netcode nowadays, especially when it's proven possible with games like TTT2, Persona 4 arena or anything with GGPO.

I mean i really hope online is good, because it will help us all be better players, but I won't personally be upset if it isn't great, since I have an offline scene. It would only upset me because the worse online is, the smaller the community most likely will be. And i want this game to be huge, just like everybody else.

P4A and all the BlazBlue titles have had immaculate online components!

While taking a small break from the Injustice GAU IOS game on my phone.

In a chat NRS guys were saying how MK9 is a zero input lag game whereas most fighters have a window of built in input lag. This alone explains why you feel online delay more in MK than other fighters. So assuming Injustice has built in delay, I fully expect Injustice to be improved, BUT people will still bitch because its not perfect.

BTW MK9 online is NOT horrible. On 360 at least, just find someone you have a good connection with and if you're in lobbies never play someone under 3 dots. If there's hella lag then that means the other persons upload speed sucks, OR the distance is too great. Quit and find someone else. I think too many people use "online bro" as a scapegoat to cover there losses.
