Was the "Demo" a bad move?

TBH at first i slighty disappointed by the demo, because it was not how i anticapte to play like?
Now i fucking love it, it shits all over MK and MK is a great game.
But heres the thing from what im reading all over the internet the negative talk on it, seems to be over taken the positive talk. (that may be due to people speak louder when their unhappy)
im glad we have a fully solid Fighter but i also want NRS to do really well for all the hard work and dedication to the fans.

but what pisses me off is in the arguments on sites such as Neogaf, Eventhubs, Destructoid, IGN and Gamefags to name some are contradictions.
other than "uhhhhh,im not getting this game cause WW looks like a man".
The most common thing i noticed is either

"Plays too much like MK, not getting a crappy clone"

"Does not play like MK at all, plays more like Marval, i hate Marvel"

or

"Games too fast paced, i hate fast paced fighters"

"This Game is way too slow for me, really disappointed"

like WTF no exaggeration these are the popular reasons why people is not getting the game!, like there opposite to each other which makes no sense!

The key is play the game for more than 5 minutes , to actually grasp it and appreciate it as a complexly new IP.

So my worry is the demo impacted badly on low intelligent Human section which is majority haha(Joking).
But do you think the Demo was a bad move in the long run, and think it will effect the sales of the game?

Yeah i know that but thats the thing the FGC is small minority, so small that ya actually learn everyone by name in a week lol, but i want to do like really, really good
Honestly if people judge a game based purely on looks, they wouldn't exactly benefit the FGC anyway

I Hope you Optimistics are right, cause NRS are really on to something here if they keep it up at this pace they will be unstoppable but massive sale drops will make them cut down on the mechanics and turn more to flash and gimmicks

OH MY GOD you guys are a bunch of fucking babies. Excuse my anger but this is absolutely ridiculous. Stop complaining about a god damn demo. That's like going to store, trying a free sample of a ham salad sandwich and being pissed that you didn't get the entire thing for free and that it wasn't the best ham salad you've ever tried because it's not EXACTLY like grandma's. COME ON.

EDIT: just realized that was a weird analogy. but it's true.

The problem is, you are taking those remarks at face value. Let's be honest, whenever a new game come sout, the overwhelming majority of talks are coming from people who will play the game for at most, 2 months, and then drop it anticipating the newest thing. It's how the gaming world works. Then you are left with the ones who actually mainly play the genre and you will start to see more talks regarding playstyles, meta games and other technical terms.

And you really have to ask yourself something. Are you really bothered by someone who is not going to buy the game because WW looks like a man? If anything, you are caring a bit too much about what others are saying. You should just concentrate on what you like and that's it.

I know some people have barked at me after I gave my constructive criticism of the demo, but at the end of the day, someone asked what I didn't like about it and I answered them. I do not care if the majority of TYM disagrees with me because it's my opinion of the demo. If people love it, kudos to them. I just wish others would understand that not everyone has to like it just because it's something everyone has been looking forward to.

Cheers!

No it wasn't, the people who whine on the forums are like 1% of the people who's buying the game, and those that are whining aren't even people who's going to take it competitively, so, most competitive players are happy and general consumers are happy it was a outstanding move.

In short, those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The people who make asinine assumptions about the full game based on a demo were going to drop the game quickly anyway. If the game isn't immediately how they expected it to be, or play like a game they like, they will just dismiss it and arbitrarily call it bad instead of having an open mind and trying to play the game on the games terms, not their own. I too didn't necessarily love the game day 1, now I'm fiending HARD for the full version because the demo doesn't offer me enough. I'm having a lot of fun with the damn DEMO, I can only imagine how the full version will be.

I think it really doesnt matter if there was a demo or not, just because some ignorant ppl didn't like the demo doesn't make me worried at all about how good and popular this game is gonna be. It actually positive for us that those people aint gonna buy the game, cause they are usually the people who send hatemail about spamming or whatever...Im gonna buy it regardless and im sure alot of ppl will do the same. ;)

gamer thought process and DNA equation:
plays like CoD, looks like CoD, happens to be CoD = never played this brand new game before!
expects similarity + finds completely new experience + (slight learning curve x american education) = I can't do it, this game is completely incorrect!

media is never in the best interests of the people and most of all they don't even like games and its industry. look how many wayward mo fo's stumbled there way here and was like " hey ... build old or somting " they aren't even properly informed on their own bent truth?
its gotten to the point that players known to test your might are like " nothing in the demo is gonna be in the final build " which is fairly stupid since all the testers have been doing the same combos for weeks, and the same shits in the trailers. our own fucking TYM falls under that curse.

just play the xbox demo. its more up to date and what you learn in it is in the final game. I promise
Ps3 version is good to! just Lex has issues!

Ignorant people gon be ignorant. Personally, I wish it was a little more of a current build used as the demo, but the demo really only helped to fuel my hype for this game.

But WW does have a manface. This is undeniable.

this is the best post I've ever seen that sums up all this demo bullshit.

I played it for a little bit and then got annoyed that there wasn't a training mode. It just made me want to play the actual game. So I guess it worked for me in that regard?

No, it wasn't a bad move. A lot of these finicky players who are making these complaints would have rented it beforehand, anyway. All the demo did, besides weed out these idiots before they could start spamming hate messages over XBL, was to get those of us who aren't emotionally stunted to get even more hype about the game and spread that hype to the uninitiated.
