My first impressions of the Injustice DEMO

About to go to sleep, but wanted to voice some of my opinions and concerns based ONLY on the demo.

The #1 potential flaw I see is mobility. The walk speed is really bad, as in super slow. And then the dashes cover a very large distance, and forward dashes are punishable. So in order to really move around, you're going to have to jump, and jump a lot. A jump for the most part covers the same ground a dash in say MK9 or AE would cover. But you can't get to that distance from walking because it's too slow, and dashing goes past that range. This is why, I think, we saw Arturo and NerdJosh jumping a lot at PAXEast, because it's the best option.

This is also why I think zoning will be really good. Because you can't just walk up and block, you'll get nowhere. You can't dash because it's too long so you get hit while dashing. Only option other than the character specific stuff is jumping.

So against zoning, you have to jump, for basic mobility, you have to jump. And from what I've seen, anti airs in this game are amazing, which discourages jumping.

Conclusion: Zoning will be OP in this game.

Just my initial thoughts. And this is just based on the demo keep that in mind. Feel free to blow me up while I am sleeping.
 
Maybe, but look at Lex and Doomsday. They seem to have ZERO problems getting in with their RIDICULOUS dashes.

zoning is retarded right now from what very little ive seen of this non-final build of the game (can you tell i'm covering my ass before somebody blows me up for this?????)

Yeah but if you're using WW in lasso stance and getting butt raped in a corner by a massive block of armor , 6 frame dashes and unblockable shit you'd have a different opinion.

Wow great post thats exactly what I thought when I played the game. Mobility seems like is going to be a big issue, one of the things I didn't like about this game. I can see a character like Grundy getting raped by a charcter like deathstroke. I think Grundy has armor but how many hits can it take? Not only do the dashes cover a long distance theres the recovery issue too. You can't cancel a dash into anything, so you're vulnerable while recovering. And as you mentioned the walk speeds are sloooooow.

why cant dashs be cancelled into moves or cancelled in general, so weird, my 15 yearold sister beats me being dash happy

Batman has a fast ground dash, a double jump, a dive kick, and a full screen EX grapple that leads to combos. Wonder Woman has a fast ground dash and an aerial dash. I think these two characters are fine.

Lex Luthor's mobility, on the other hand, is atrocious. He moves like Zangief in AE. Master D. was zoning me with Batman who is not even a zoning character. I can only imagine what someone like the Green Arrow will do to Luthor.

One thing I find a bit difficult is whiff punishing. Without dash cancels its a lot tougher to punish things but hey I guess it balances everything out. The dashing is a bit of a problem with zoning though

I agree wholeheartedly with this so far. I feel like Doomsday is a necessity to deal with zoners, he seems like the only one tough enough to say YOLO and rush shit down effectively with that trait of his. I really hope that we're wrong.

Mobility is strange for sure. Walk speed feels slow except for batman's forward walk. Forward dashes cover a lot of distance, to the point where that might not be a good thing most of the time. I feel like this is just something that requires adjustment though.

There's a lot of crazy shit in this demo. WW has a 17f overhead that launches. She also has a 14f low that launches. She can combo off her d1 without meter. Her b113 string is amazing. She can cancel air normals into her dive kick, which has huge mix up potential (if you don't get anti-aired i guess). I'm probably missing other shit. Her sword stance is pretty useless I find.

Lex is a zoner with an elbow dash. Dunno what this means yet but it could be stupid. Ending combos with his trait can be real problematic for the other guy.

No real comment on Batman. I had a tough time with the AI cuz of stupid inhuman reflex parry and that god damn dumpster.

Speaking of the dumpster, what is up with the environmental interactions? Why are they unblockable? That shit is frustrating and not fun.

Tech rolling feels more difficult to do this game and I know nothing about wake up attacks.

I dunno if the frame data is 100% accurate either. Will have to wait til release I guess.
 
the blocking is bad , dashing trying to combo your opponent doesn't work, lex does that purple shit all fucking day , batman is to godlike on very hard , i thought jumping couldn't get any worst , my thumbs hurt trying to pull off wall combos thats gets drop all the time , darksied is not playable , but i still love injustices ......

Dashing in this game sucks big time....whats the point of having a dash when you cant cancel it to a normal or special....

Untrue, it feels like that at first. It takes time, but the game will evolve into fast gameplay.
explain your statement...With such a shitty dash, an good antiair tools how are rush down characters gonna close space....armor???
