Uhhhhhh no. Every game has the full revealed roster before release(sans secret characters) and that is done for a reason. Every character revealed is another possible large number of consumers. Every gameplay reveal is going to net them a lot less consumers. From a business standpoint characters would definitely be more beneficial.

By secret characters do you mean "character you have to unlock"?

Then couldn't it be argued that the ones they're not announcing are gonna be secret characters that are unlocked through story mode, like Cyber and Quan?
There is a big difference between keeping some MK characters secret and keeping DC characters secret. MK fans will buy the new MK regardless of characters because they like the series, but for Injustice they need to show all the characters to bring in as many comic/movie/cartoon fans as possible. Someone who might not buy the game right now could be convinced by the reveal of a new character that they know and love.

Most people will buy for the big six, there may be some that will need more but most will be fine with that. Beyond that, they can buy the game at any point in it's lifespan so if they need to know the full roster they can wait a week or so. Heck, they may not even have to wait that as some stores sell games early and the entire roster will be leaked before the game comes out.

Quoting for truth. As soon as I saw the first trailer, I was hooked and wanted this game. Every reveal has been icing on the cake to me.

Not true. Many people are still waiting for: MMH, Lobo, Swamp Thing, Darkseid, etc. These people would seriously pick up the game for these characters. Compare that to the number of people who will pick it up for seeing how the clash system works, it isn't even a contest. People don't want to wait a week, because they are impatient. They have to reel people in while the game is getting hyped up.

Not saying I wouldnt mind some gameplay, but as a business decision it wouldnt be smart.

Yeah its mostly true as soon as Bats, Sups, WW, and Flash were up more than "many" ppl decided to buy at that time.

Just show reveal trailers, I don't care about game play.

I want Raven bitch slapping people in 40 different angles

I'm struggling to see what you mean by that. How is showing gameplay footage a bad business decision?
Showing gameplay of an already existing character over confirming another character, that is the argument.

LBSH, Do you think they would have more potential buyers by releasing a doomsday video, or announcing Raven as playable?

"Many people", let's say a total of 40,000 would pick up the game for any or all the characters you mentioned, they don't care about mechanics or anything, just their character and the story mode. Now compare to the 15,000 on the fence because either they didn't like MK or don't like the way this looks but really like fighting games. Do you try to reel in those 40,000 that will play their favorite characters for a week or two, play the story mode and then trade it in (some will stick with it, many won't) or do you you try to reel in those 15,000 that will keep the game for months on end (many will, some won't) and possibly buy the DLC as they like the mechanics of the game?

Completely out-of-my-ass numbers but this scenario can easily play itself out and has with other genres before. If one character is truly all you need to purchase this game then you don't care about the game as a whole more than likely. Whereas the people that want to know about the mechanics care about the game beyond the characters and will continue to support it.

Edit:

Yeah its mostly true as soon as Bats, Sups, WW, and Flash were up more than "many" ppl decided to buy at that time.

They've reeled in hundreds of thousands to millions with Supes, Bats, WW, Flash, Joker and GL alone.

Possibly. I don't see why they can't have gameplay footage of existing characters and new reveals.

Who's to say they can't do both?

There's two game related conferences or something this month, do a reveal similar to Aquaman's story trailer at each for a character and leave it at that.

The 40,000 of course. Once they get your money they give no shits what you do with the game. From a business perspective.

This worked before DLC/used sales. They have to make you want to hold on to the game and a person that's paying 60 bucks or, more than likely, borrowing/renting/buying a cheaper used copy is not very likely to hold on to it.

Edit: One of my friends love comics/comic characters (he loves Batman, Nightwing) is renting the game just to play story and play with Batman/Nightwing. He will not spend 60 bucks on the game as the mechanics don't interest him, though he's not a huge fighting game fan anyway. So, once he's had his fill, he's done and won't look back and that's who the "40,000" are with their "one/two characters and story mode".

DLC cost 20 dollars total for each person. Your either losing 20 dollars each person or 40 dollars each person.

That's if it's 4, not to mention any costume packs/skins/levels/missions, what have you. People buying used or rented is 0 dollars in their pockets and a lot of the "40,000" is like that.

Eh good point.

Let's just agree to disagree and hope they do both lol.

They should reveal the whole thing and stop this shit. I want some reveals, I want to know who's in and who's not. Now, for me, what is happening now is the anti-hype.

They drag this shit out way too long. There needs to be a point where they're not trolling and they're revealing.

I don't mind hidden characters but for fuck's sake we don't even know how many are in the game, let alone a good chunk of the cast.
