My job is anal about my weekends so that Wednesday doesnt sound too bad.
Definitely gonna try and make it out. How late does 8bit close? Was thinking of checking it out too.
Thanx for the heads up Turo.
So I made a stop at 8-Bit and Up and found out who I need to reach out to regarding these MK 9 casuals.

Supposedly it ISNT always Fridays according to the guy at the store. Also, they play other games, not just MK. MvC3 and some others. Mostly Xbox and you must bring your own stick or controller.
I'm pretty close with Phire. I'm currently talking to him and telling him where to go to in Japan lol. I'll have him swing by the thread from time to time. St Mark's is GODLIKEEEEEEE cause of cheap eats and hot girls everywhere since its by NYU but its gonna be tough in the summer cause of heat/space issues lol.

Pretty much THE spot for hardcore fighting players in NYC is in Brooklyn @ The Next Level. I posted Guard Crush 17 in this thread. It will be the first Guard Crush that has MK9 (next wednesday.) Hope you can make it. Though from what I've seen on these forums I've heard from multiple people that you're a legendary ducker/don't like to go to tournaments.........................

:(

I hope you actually show up to one/offline gathering.

I will gladly donate a box fan for this cause. ;-) And a pie of 2 Brothers shitty pizza.

Is this the spot run by the dudes that used to own Chinatown Fair over on Mott St.?

Cool. I'll try to set something up that is convenient for everyone so let me know whats good.
The spot is run by the dude that has managed Chinatown Fair. Not the person that owns it. IE Henry Cen. He's a tournament player that's been in the scene for years and I know him personally so he pretty much knows what hardcore players want.

Phil, it also sucked that your event was at the same time as the 8bit one, hopefully we can avoid those kinda conflicts int he future at least for local events. I saw the results and I saw that Joe was there as well..if we were actually all in the same place at the same time we woulda had a 20-30 man tourney easyyyyyyyyyyyy i think. and plus i love playing joe i learn so much playing him for just a hour lol.

But yeah, hope this thread starts to pick up a bit more when things get more established. Been talking to Haunts/iplaywinner a lot after he left NY and norcal is taking MK9 somewhat seriously with weekly offline events which is good to see. I mean Michelangelo is from there and we've been seeing him top 8 every major basically lol
Yeah, I just saw that too... wow... that would have been one insane MK9 tournament with huge numbers.

BTW, check your PM's...

Sweet. Keep me posted as to what ever I can do to help. I live close by 8Bit so travel is no issue. Ill be happy to bring whatever I can. I recall Phire mentioning Fridays and Sundays are the usual throwdowns, both days work well for myself.

So after checking out the facebook page it appears they will be open Friday, Im gonna make a trip out there and get my first taste of offline play. If anyone reading this thread and is also gonna be there, just scream out "Langdon!" or look for the guy using the joystick styled after the ol NES Advantage. That'll be me.

Not a ducker, I just have no money or time to go to these things(currently seeking work) which I'm sure these "people" failed to mention, can't believe everything you hear.

Where is this place in Brooklyn so that next time there's an event I can make plans in advance. BK is a great option for me. I just read of this now, I have an interview at 5 so today is out :( I used to live in BK, but now SI. So wait, Guard Crush is Next Level same place? I'm new to this lol so don't mind me. Do you know which neighborhood it's in in BK, by any chance? I used to live in Bayridge but don't know every place out there, but I can find a way if I get a friend in advance for future casuals, tourneys etc

But seriously dude any future events in BK, SI, NYC area definitely send me an im man if you remember in advance, right now I'm trying to balance seeking work, MK and hanging with friends more or less :)

yea i went to GC yesterday. Its 4013 on 8th ave. And I'm from jersey lol. Its a great venue. I have no idea if they will have MK9 at future Guard Crushes because the MK turnout wasn't the best. Its AE turnout was pretty great though. Either way, they run an unpatched version of the game and I got beat out by the bomb trap T_T. But either way it was a good experience. I would like to get more offline games before ETC3 though.
