Balancing Updates Do Not Save To Hard Drive On Xbox 360!

UPDATE: It seems this is a 360 issue, as PS3 updates still work.

As you may know, one of the most promoted features of MK9 was the balancing on the fly, without patches. For the most part, this has worked, as there have been changes in the past few days such as infinite removal and some move property changes.

However, there is one kink in this, and it's not exactly a tiny one. The updates DO NOT save to your hard drive. When you are disconnected from XBL/PSN, the updates do not take effect at all. They are all just stored online. This is a problem for when these updates bring in important changes.

From what I've gathered, the update doesn't save to the hard drive when you go offline. It stays online.

This is a major problem. They need to fix it ASAP.

Wow, that fairly large issue especially in regards to tournaments that may not have network access.

Since if the game is not connected online and those updates are not in effect this could very well cause the tournament to be potentially running the game and not it's latest revision or update (meaning whatever infinites fixed, those fixes no longer apply due to the sloppy nature of this updating method)

They need to create a downloadable title update that will correct this issue.

It seems like it's a glitch, actually. Considering that a big part of MK9 is that the developers pushed for this game to be a competitive one. This goes against that, 100%.

I would assume that any smaller updates would be included in bigger patches and even DLC (I'm guessing that everyone will have to download DLC whether they buy it or not). If that's the case, this would only be an issue between bigger patches.

Wowsers! Good catch, Tay. This is an absolutely unacceptable issue that needs to be addressed. People are going to show to tournaments expecting to play a fixed game and have to deal with things like Cyrax's infinite... FIX THIS NOW!

Uhhh where do you get the info on these updates? Im all for balancing but stealth changes? They should release some info on these balance changes.

NRS has stated changelogs will be made occasionally.

One thing I've noticed is that the updates are still in effect if you become disconnected. So pretty much you can boot up and as long as you do not leave the game, the updates are there.

But regardless, it's a huge issue.

Well I can confirm for you right now, that the changes are saved on my game, and I'm using the Playstation 3 and can't get access to PSN. The combo does 44% still, the infinites that were patch before PSN went down don't work either. It's probably an Xbox 360 problem.

Yeah I have a feeling but can't confirm this maybe an XBOX online problem. Since PSN has been down and after the first patch update(Which I was doing the Cyrax infinite and it worked until after that patch) the Cyrax teleport, Net infinite no longer works online. So again I think this is Xbox only which is unfortunate for tourneys running on XBOX. Luckily EVERY EVO major seems to be running the game on PS3.

Just because PSN is down doesn't mean you don't receive the updates via your network connection. The updates are received from NRS servers, not from PSN.

Disable your wireless, or unplug your ethernet cable, then test and tell us how that goes.

i am at work so i cann't try this my self but can someone try this on the ps3 without an internet connection psn maybe down but you do not have to be connected to psn for your ps3 to be connected online try unpluging the internet cable then check that way we are 100% sure about this

EDIT: Disabled wireless and turned off my router. Combo still does 44% damage.
