Really? Because I'll argue the former all day. Smoke needs boofs.
I'll be honest, having 3 top Smokes is kinda bad. For a character to have as many tools as he does, we should be at least making heads turn at tournies with a Smoke army. But it seems every Smoke is either going to school hardcore or dealing with family, etc. I'm happy Wafflez does as well as he does, but he's practically US's Smoke because, well, everyone else is doing something else.

EDIT: Wafflez is a top Smoke because he's a great player, he's worked hard to get as good as he is. I'm not saying otherwise. I'm just pointing out lack of character representation.

We need to hear Kitana stock. There were 6 Kit mains there (that i know of) and only 1 made top 16.

Kitana: stock neutral. Even though the other Kitana players did not do as well as they could given their skill(yes that includes you Revolver, stop being EMO) I still placed and it's likely that CD would have if he had come. Getting her back blown out by fish characters like Baraka and Mileena hurts her standings but recent beat downs of Kabal keeps her in the clear from being on the bubble.

They're probably out eating paint chips because none of them are good enough to be competitive in tournaments. Ribbz is pretty much there and I'm working on it but if nobody's been able to get it right after ~17 months who gives a damn anymore

*Sigh.* I guess so.

Jeremiah's Kabal is rock solid or red hot, depending on the day.
Actually I need to clarify the difference between my two sayings. "Red Hot" is based on how good that person is playing to their potential. So if my Kabal's potential is a 4 out of 10, me being a Red Hot Kabal would mean I'm playing at a 4 out of 10.

"Rock Solid" means based on the absolute 10. You have to average your number vs. the absolute 10 scale. So for my Kabal right now to be Rock Solid you would have to take (4+10)/2= 7. So if my Kabal were "Rock Solid" I would be playing at a 7 out of 10.

Detroit and the Terry brothers.

Detroit: Stock down. Missed defending the NEC championship and can now only be rarely seen bodying Morty with Ermac in local tournaments. Could possibly be washed up.

DJT & MIT: Stock slightly up. Did not compete but MIT is currently entertaining TYM by blowing up Curbo and being one of the top MU Police.

stock in cyrax - up down? And maybe i'm wrong but i noticed no one using reptile except chris g...is this possible?

Cyrax: Stock neutral. A pool full of Cyrax players all got their backs blown out(including Cyrax on Cyrax violence) but Maxter placed as consistent as always, actually defeated his brother, bodied the princess again and was only stopped by Kabal as usual. Still cheap and downplayed.

Not specifically calling you out subzerosmokerai, but that shouldn't be an excuse for anyone. Wafflez doesnt train with the rest of gga since going to college. I doubt he's even touched the game since season beatings (save one weekend practice session when he came home for thanksgiving). Its about priority and the willingness to learn. I'm sure tommy is frothy-ing at the mouth to be home from school for x-mas vacation to level up and train more. Smoke players just need to level up there game - ooooooooooooooooooooooo

Even if you were calling me out directly, i'd say your assessment is totally fair. I know players who go to my school who compete at Starcraft, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros. who almost exclusively play those games and (except for the Super Smash Bros. player) get paid consistently doing it as well as doing well in their classes. You have super busy people like 995 Phil and Pig with their families and lives and jobs and yet they still bend over backward for this community, all voluntarily.

I just feel if there were any good reasons for not dedicating real time to leveling up it would be schooling and family.

Haha, I can't speak for other Smoke players, but I definitely have to level up my game.

I remember at Evo, all the toadies gloating over the US vs UK battle stating that we didn't have an answer to Kabal. Well at the point REO is at with the character I would say none of you do now. Forget any other kabal mainers, they are small potatoes.

I don't think PL has fought REO since Evo, am I right? I think PL's KL vs Reo's Kabal is the big match everyone wants to see right now.

I wasn't calling anyone out specifically, but you guys have a great character to work with. I know Wafflez' situation and used it as an example, thats all.

This guy looks kind of tuff...
I have decided to do an overview of where the top players stand in a post NEC world. Note that this is only halfway serious so don't get all emo.

REO: Stock up. Has now won 3 huge majors in a row. Even though I am obviously a huge Midwest supporter and Carl acolyte I can no longer deny that REO is the #1 MK player in the world.

Maxter: Stock slightly up. Remains a consistent top 3 player but still gets his back blown out by REO. However, at NEC he finally beat his brother. Now the #1 Dominican brother.

CD Jr: Stock way up. After a disappointing 13th place at Dallas and his Kung Lao getting bodied by everyone he's back to Jax and in the top 3. Only negative was being exposed as a Jax downplayer with all this Jax in the top 16. Somehow is still allowed to compete despite promising to retire if Soup beat Riu. I guess retirement stipulations in MK are like pro wrestling.

Sonic Fox: Stock skyrocketed. Has proven to be the real deal. Has retroactively added legitimacy for his placement at Winter Brawl and sadly forced us to stop making fun of Summer Jam. Could possibly be the best Mileena in the world.

GGA 16 Bit: Stock slightly down. After beating Carl a lot of people had me in their predicted top 3. Instead I lost to a child.

Tyrant: Stock slightly up. Back in the top 8 after an outside the top 16 placing at Dallas. The loss to Zaf sent his stock plummeting and he was almost in washed up territory but he recovered. Super clutch. Made Tomlulsbrady's day.

Riu48: Stock way up. Was nearly washed up before this tournament, with his most notable appearances of late being getting his back blown out by Dizzy and his goofy entrance at that VSM Royal Rumble. Now he's back in the top 8 and has beaten Death in the Sonya mirror. Rejoins the list of like 8 guys who may be the best Sonya in the world.

Tom Brady: Stock raised to the heavens. TOM BRADY IS BACK. The biggest winner of NEC. His weaksauce Cage gets bodied in round 1 only for the Lin Kuei master to return winning bad MU left and right. Tom can now rightfully go on and on about being a top 10 player.

Big D: On the bubble. After two poor showings at MLG he is back into the top 16 but not the top 8. A top 8 showing would have brought him back to top player status but he'll have to settle for having a second chance. The character crisis he is going through is worrying though.

Death: On the bubble. After retiring to the wilderness earlier this year Death returned at that Canadian tournament and got his back blown out by CD Jr's Kung Lao(during a time period where even Tommy Wafflez could beat CD Jr). Many thought he was washed up but he saved his career by getting 9th at NEC. Needs a top 8 placing but can settle with this. His self hyped "footsies KL" that would show us all how good KL is was no where to be seen. "Footsies KL" remains a myth, the Big Foot(sies) of Kung Lao's.

Showtime: Stock neutral. Has failed to make top 8 twice in a row. However, on the plus side he did almost beat Maxter and got revenge for getting Krayzie boned at Dallas by making it through a pool of Cyrax players.

Insuperable: Stock slightly up. Has to settle for another heartbreaking 9th place but has proven to be a consistent top 16 placer and can hang with the top guys beating Riu who did go on to place. Undisputed Quan Chi of the world and randomly plays Jax.

J360: Stock up. Finally cracks the top 16 and can say he wasn't beaten by fellow VSM players this time.

Winter Warz: Stock down. Solid top 16 placing but hasn't followed up his Season's Beatings performance. Can no longer claim I only beat him because he couldn't use his keyboard. Has now stolen my Snake Strike and turned it into a meme. Needs a top 8 or he's on the bubble of being washed up.

Wafflez: Stock down. Screwed up the possible runback against CD Jr by getting his back blown out by Blackula. Only M2Dave was happy with his placement.

Curbo: Stock plummeted. Now officially washed up. His last(and only) top 8 placement was 100 years ago at MLG Columbus. Has conceded that Dizzy is the best Cage by going to Kabal and then got bodied anyway. Has gone from beating top Sub-Zero's with Cage to getting his back blown out by Sub as Kabal. Sonic Fox has replaced him as the child prodigy of MK.

Pig of the Hut: Stock neutral. Did not compete but at least has the Kenshi downplaying talking point that there was no Kenshi in the top 16.

M2Dave: Stock neutral. Did not compete but approved of there being no "Boosty" in tournament and was happy to see Dark Natas get bodied in pools.

KT Smith: Stock at rock bottom. Remains the most washed up player in the scene.

Chris G: Stock up. Had been super washed up, only being brought up to troll me, but his stock has risen slightly since he won a game on stream and actually forced Tommy to go to Cage in tournament.

Crazy Dominican: Stock neutral. Has gone home to be a family man.

These are my thoughts on the top 16 as well as a few others. Please comment or add your own players to rank.

These prop fishing threads are getting annoying. Every time I log in to tym it seems like its just someone fishing for props. Someone blowing up someone or complaining about a char/tournament. Etc.

Your good 16 bit. We all know it. Lol

I am annoyed at the amount of head that ermac player who got lucky against tyrant in that first set is getting. Fact of the matter is tyrant proved he is strong tournament player and didn't let the lost rattle him, and mashed zaf? fucking head in when they met up in losers, it wasn't even close. Tyrant went on to get 5th only losing to REO while that ermac player was found dead in pool. All his props are lost and automatically go to EGP tyrant. BTW EGP tyrant used 100 percent jax, and was the only person in the tournament to do so.
