The point is that top players are picking up Kabal only and soley because he is the best character in the game and they do use him for alot of matchups that are hard for their main

How many players in top8 at Dallas or EVO other than REO succesfully used Kabal to win specific matchups?

It's happened occasionally, but it doesn't seem to be a very consistent thing any longer, and multiple people that have tried it have been blown up in recent tournaments.

This shit again? Exactly how long do you expect developers to put out patches? They did so over a year, and almost everything they changed was criticised.

just to add to this... I think sometimes they use him so they don't have to deal with other characters bullshit. Kabals bullshit blows up other characters bullshit. No setup needed.

I don't understand the xsmokex part of this article.... What would it take to beat Kabal? 16bit's beaten it twice in tournament.

Carl and Tyrant have too.

With examples being Winter Brawl, a set where REO almost lost from Toryuken, and talk of CD Jr and Carl maining Kabal this article seems like it was written 6 months ago.

The reason a character like Kabal is a better player than Kung Lao, is that for all of Kung Lao's amazing stuff, nearly all his specials are punishable on block. Nearly all of Kabals are safe on block.

Kabals projectiles are too good in this game. I could accept if Kabal is a jack of all trades, but not when he has, hands down, the best zoning in the game and arguably the best upclose pressure in the game.

A lot of Kenshi's crap is safe on block as well.

I mean take Cyrax, a lot of people say "net and a dream" but a blocked net up close is full combo punishable, a LOT of characters can punish Cyrax on reaction if he throws naked bombs.

Below Kenshi and Kabal, a lot of characters aren't nearly completely safe on stuff they can do.

"Hey man, you gotta check out this awesome game! It's got a big, classic, varied cast, tight gameplay with a slick system, and it's just straight up insanely fun.

The only caveat is that there's one character who's kinda head and shoulders above everyone else. It's pretty annoying. For some reason they gave him the best zoning in the game AND the best rushdown. It's like someone crossed Guile with Rufus in SF4.

What? No, the game is absolutely incredible to watch. Well, except you WILL see that one character a lot. Like, a LOT. And a ton of the top players have all picked him up as a backup just because he's so friggin' good that there's no reason not to. And he kinda blows up half the cast completely for free simply due to his godlike tools."
If someone gave you that pitch and told you to check out the tournaments, you would not be interested in watching it. Anyone who says otherwise is full of it.

A ton of characters not having armor has been awful for the competitive scene, because you have to play godlike to be competitively viable with the majority of them. One bad airfan from 16bit, he could eat a gasblast and then a spin from across the entire screen.

MK9 is so damn good, but Kabal really makes most tournaments a snore to spectate.

I don't really agree with this at all... I think there is TOO much armor which creates stupid situations in the neutral game.

Right now the game is heavily focused on just pouring on offense.... and knowing when you can let go of block. Armor punishes you for letting go of block.

If Kabal is banned, I will lose all motivation to play this game. My dream is to be able to take out a Kabal player in tournament. If you take away the ultimate goal, what else is there? Yes, Kabal is a tough character to beat in the right hands. But he ISNT unstoppable. There have been the select few who managed to take down Kabal players.

I think we all just need to level up to be honest. Pig Of The Hut manned up and studied the matchup. Now look at him. He goes even (almost) with REO who is undoubtedly one of the best Kabals in the world. If we all decide to stop complaining and just learn, there wont be a need to ban him.

So please, enough with this "ban" talk. And instead, lets figure out how to consistently beat this bastard in to the ground...

If Ermac had armor, you would be winning a lot more. Instead you're forced to make consistently godlike reads in order to stand a chance. What you (and a lot of other people who main characters without armor) manage to do is insanely impressive.

For example, first you have to beat REO, who is already an incredible player, but now you ALSO have to beat Kabal. At lower levels, for nobody's like me, its all about the player. But at the highest level, where you all play, godtier players using godtier characters is pretty godly.

Selective handing out of armor has been the worst part of the balance for MK9. If all characters had an armored move, I don't think Kabal would be as much of a plague due to the fact that you could blast through his pressure.

Characters who can deal with NDC are rapped by iaGBs, and characters who can deal with iaGBs are rapped by NDC.

I think we made our own bed when skarlet PP daggers where nerfed, she was just possibly the best character in the game, who could spam dagger do deal with iaGBs, small hitbox to dealth NDCs, and she had low starter and overhead starter, but her best tools where nerfed, besides of not dealing damage, now she is reduced to shit.
