It says 2ms, is that good?
2 ms is the best for (fighting) games.

Ideally, the VH236H is the monitor you want to go for (as Jer mentioned).

It's the tournament standard for EVO and regarded as one of the best / fastest monitor on the market for gaming (if not the best).

This monitor is priced fairly at Newegg.ca:

A little more expensive at Microbytes located in Montreal (you get a $20.00 American Express Gift card rebate):

Sometimes I fucking hate this game. I have no funny analogy to depict how shitly inconsistent I am, but let me just tell you that I seriously hate myself some times due to it. And I want to get a new stick, as now I'm comfortable enough to know that it's really what I want to play with...

Do you really notice a big difference when playing on this instead of a TV?
You do notice a difference.

When Charlie and I practice together, we usually play on my 42" Hitachi LCD Television. When I got my ASUS monitor, we hooked it up to my Playstation 3 and noticed a difference immediately. Footsies, reads and counterpoke are easier to perform on an ASUS and you can react to your opponent at a faster pace thus enhancing your ability to play.

The last time we all got together at Foonzo, Charlie and I secured a spot with two ASUS monitors to ensure the best quality of play. You can still have some good games on the standard DYNEX televisions that are also provided but the 2 ms quick response time will give to the most accurate "version" of the game.

Ultimately it comes down to your needs; If you're playing on a CRT television, that's actually very good. If you have a newer model LCD / LED television, chances are the response time could be around 8 ms (some older models are over 10) and noticeable especially in fighting games where the pace is fast and you need to take advantage of every frame in every second.

Thanks for the info KRYS9984

I'll get it next thursday when I get my next paycheck lol. Hopefully, they have it in stock at futureshop, I don't like buying online for this kind of stuff.

If it's sold-out there you can go to the microbytes on rene-levesque, they'll order it for you I believe

Once my internet is hooked it is my next purchase as well :). Take into consideration the audio output on these is... almost lacking. So find a good pair of speakers to boost the sound!

I can see 2ms being beneficial for FPSs, but I doubt it's substantial enough to go from 5ms to 2ms. I should try playing MK on my 2ms PC BenQs before I comment though...

I'm certain Futureshop and BestBuy do not carry the VH236H monitor and you would have to opt for a different model if purchasing from them.

LolingOctopus is correct; Microbytes does in fact still sell them and if they don't have it in stock, they will have one shipped from the supplier or transferred from another store.

They unfortunately jacked up the price ($12.00) from when I purchased mine in August but it still comes out cheaper than buying a different and perhaps inferior model from a bigger chain store. You also get the $20.00 rebate gift card so it's a pretty good deal.

You're not alone man, I would often input way too fast and drop my combos as well.

On a fast monitor you can actually stop, think and react; All the muscle memory from playing on a regular TV / online just goes out the window.

I'm certain high level players can see a difference from 5 ms to 2 ms response time. I remember at one of the first MLG tournament, players were complaining that the BENQ monitors were lagging even though they were also 2 ms (like ASUS). However, even though certain brands advertise a monitor as 2 ms, there could be a difference in speed compared to others. I'm sure BENQ, ACER, etc..... 2 ms monitors are not as fast as the ASUS VH236H which is the EVO tournament standard for a reason. However, for practice, the BENQ you mentioned should be just fine.

Yeah for sure

My mapping

Triangle = fp
R1 (face) = bp
O = fk
R2 (face) = bk
Square = Tag
X= Grab
R1 (top) = stance
R2 (top) = block

Works well with Ermac, been doing a 45% meterless combo with him, I don't even know how to use him
