Question Top 10 players. where do we stand post Dallas?

I will say I base my opinion on the "big" majors and tournaments like Evo and Mlg. Brady would most certainly be in my top 20 now and if you asked me last year who would be in my top ten, brady would be in there. There's so many good players now that it's really hard to make a top ten list.

It is one of the biggest factors in my decision to not compete again. Sadly, i was not allowed to compete at MLG, and it will eternally be held against me. Play at NEC? why? get top 5.. top 8? why? nothing changes, and this kills the drive to compete. I have gone to tourneys in the last 3 months and been in the top 2-3 in all of them, even having some very good quality wins vs top players. as i said, nothing changed then, and after Absolute Battle and NEC things still wont change hence there is no drive or reason to compete.

For newer players coming in or finally breaking out, no tourney they attend or do well in will ever break them into the top 10 spot. This can also be discouraging.

I'm not on the list because I didnt compete in MLG due to not allowed to as the commentator, not because I actually dont belong on it.

Exactly, isn't commentating and getting paid for it worth not being on peoples top 10 list? You're hands down one of the best commentators there is you should take pride in that, it's not an easy thing to be good at.

Dude, most people acknowledge that. For fuck's sake, we just want to see you compete. Go check Pig's thread where he announced that you'd be coming out of retirement and I dare you to find one single negative post. People lost their shit. Just go play at NEC dude. Please.

Tom Brady, I wouldn't doubt that you're a top 10 player. You play all sub and do amazing things, there is no telling how well you'd do if you used all the chars in the cast to your disposal. Go to NEC and prove just how great of a player you are.

although, i do have to say that I have delivered when the community demands I play certain matches at the events i cannot compete in, only to hear "it wasnt tourney" which actually means that the match only meant something if I lost which is why the community demanded it in the first place.

I have attended 4 tourneys in the time that I could not play in MLG and been in the grand finals in 3 of them and got 3rd in another. This includes wins over top player(s) that are on this top 10 list. most of these werent even streamed or recorded. so, its not like I dont deliver, its that the community doesnt like to acknowledge results in matches that THEY DEMAND AND SCREAM FOR at the events I cant compete in, because they thought I would lose and be blown up only.. OOPS, I won. That and other times when i deliver, there is no stream or vid of it so no one sees it.

So, its not that I dont deliver, its just that people deny it in some instances and others dont see it in other instances.

You're one of the only players who gets major attention when you LOSE! The only other person who gets that kind of attention is probably PL, the 2x EVO champ. I wish people gave a shit when I lost in something, means they care lol.

Bill, weve had this conversation on the phone before. You had a choice. And I still believe you made the right choice, both for you and for the community. The community needs a face, a figurehead. You brought a sense of professionalism and sophisticated commentary in your position at MLG. You made the game look good, you made the community look good. By the power of your voice alone you had the ultimate power to shape the way this game and this community were portrayed at MLG. And long after MK9 has gone the way of the dinosaur this position will likely continue to present you with new opportunities.
Did it come with a sacrifice? Yes. You had to decide between working for MLG and being a competitor. I know you live to compete, but there will always be other tournaments, and other games.
People serve the community in different ways. We have our top players who get the limelight like REO,CD jr,Pig etc etc. But there are many other people who serve the community in many different ways.
We are speaking on this forum right now because of Storms and Krayzie Bone. They brought us all together and united the various factions within the MK community(UMK, CMK, MKE)
We have guys who allow people to be heard in the community by hosting various podcasts, KTP, D4cast, On Blast show, Woolay show.
Guys like 9.95 and Shock who barely play MK9. But when they come calling the whole northeast comes charging to them.
The top players are just one link in the chain that makes this community gold. And many people have taken different paths to becoming well known in this community.
You shouldnt regret your path Bill. And you should accept the sacrifices that went with it. Realize the MLG events were/are the biggest MK extravaganza's this community has ever had. And you were the face, the voice, and the ultimate power behind how we looked to the world behind it all. Be happy with that brother, its way more than most of us will ever get to do.

I agree, I was just stating other reasons why I'm not on that list. Its a ridiculous double standard that no one else has. Only PL comes close. I have no issue with it. if the community REALLY thought I wasnt top then no one would care when I win or lose. I know for a fact I belong in the top 10 and thats enough for me. I actually love this community and consider myself blessed to even get this much attention.

haha i still remember that match, we were both hella salty we got eliminated from evo. That very demoralizing loss at evo vs detroit has actually fueled me to just keep getting better and better and is one of the main reasons I'm as good as I am now.

Thanks for all the props guys, the vegas crew is always ready to bring greatness and hype to tournaments. We will be trying to get to NEC, SCR, and FInal Round, and of course the mlg's next yr and the arena if they have it this year. The bernie shall strike fear into all aha.
