The training mode in this game is such a God send, if only MK 9 had a record move feature.

How do guys punish in this game? I find the windows in this are small, and you have to almost enter the command a fraction earlier, so if Heihachi hits me with a EWGF and I block, a simple punish with King or Armor King is 21, but you cant just wait for you to come out of block animation, you have to almost enter the command just as Heihachi is finishing his animation.

I've noticed you can punish Heihachi's EWGF with A. Kings Dark Uppercut but you have to be fast. It's not just having good execution in this game, it's having fast execution.

Tekken is a lot deeper than I realised and it's quite fascinating. I've been trying to find frame data for King and Armor King but its like that american player, "Bob", he doesnt bother with it, and he just looks for what works and what doesnt, which I kinda admire, cause it was like this back in the 90's arcades when you didnt have the internet and frame data to fall back on.

It sounds weird but you eventually develop a feel for what's unsafe. I can jab punish if I have to but I prefer to condition them so that they respect your advantage the next time they something that's dubious on block. That said, are you playing on your stick? You should have giant swing down easier than most, just sayin :p

Btw, what's this punishing EWGF shitznit, it's plus on block lol, if you're "punishing" it it's either just a regular rising uppercut (-11 I believe) or they're trying to EWGF again (sounds kinda familiar doesn't it....). Best option if you read it would probably be duck and WR1 with A.King

Unfortunately frame data for TT2 has been pretty scattered so far, I don't know much outside of the universal stuff. Not to mention there's potentially 50+ matchups you have to learn in this game..

You can use Lars to test punishment because he covers all the bases fairly well.

Standing:

10F - 1,2 or 2,1
12F - f+2,4
13F - f+1+4
14F - b,f+2,1
15F - f+1+2
16F - u/f+3

Crouching:

11F - WS+4
13F - 2,1
15F - WS+1

Miscellaneous information:

- most hopkicks (u/f+4) are 15F

- few characters have standing 14F launchers

- few characters have crouching 14F launchers

- Kazuya is the only character in the game who has a 13F standing launcher (perfect mist step EWGF) and a mid-hitting 13F crouching launcher (WS+1,2)

- take push back into consideration when punishing

Punishment is braindead easy in this game. The windows are actually huge. This game has a very generous buffer and you can literally mash out your punishment and it will come out frame-perfect.

Do it just like you said: input your punishment a tiny bit early. It'll come out perfect. You'll get the feel down from playing.

who here uses sebastian or lili, i need more practice for them cause im tired of gettin scrubbed out by those chars
Lili has been my main since she came out in DR. I know A LOT about her.

She is really not that great in TTT2. She was infinitely better in T6 (which was a shitty game that I didn't play). If you need to grind out that match, not only can I help you do it, but I can explain all of her weaknesses, and how to deal with her bullshit.

I think the problem is that Sebastian is T6 Lili and they look so similar ... that you can't really "gameplan" until you just make seeing their stuff habit.

Their bullshit makes me rage though. These two and that Eddy crew.... their evasiveness is just too much for me at times.

So I finally picked up the game...really diggin the Capos(big surprise) But I don't think I want to Run eddy/christy or eddy/tiger. Any suggestions for a decent compliment to a Capo in this game? Keep in mind...I'm hella green in Tekken....like hella.

This might get me some stick, but I personally find Paul, Law, Hoowrang and Baek pretty noob friendly. The taekwondo guys are pretty good at high level, but they are also mash friendly.

And of course, Paul Phoenix has death fist which does retarded damage, especially against someone running in. I think he's the easiest character in the game to pick up.

Jack-6/P. Jack are fairly braindead, but they can't handle sidestepping opponents that well... But Lars, that damn DBZ reject has got to be the most braindead character in the game. I tried him out in training and all I can say is that his level of retardedness is way over 9000. Lars is the Kenshi of Tekken and worse.

And no I don't think the Jack characters are BS, Lars is.

This is true of any character in any fighting game. And you are correct. The first 100 times you fight a character that you are unfamiliar with, you're going to be getting your ass kicked while you learn to recognize their animations.

For anyone who is interested in learning to fight against Lili/Sebastian (Sebastian sucks by the way!), go into practice mode and check out these moves with Lili. These are the moves you should learn to recognize. Here are some notes about each.
1. d/f+3+4
Great punisher, juggle on hit, she's backturned and -6 on block. YOU CAN SIDESTEP BASICALLY EVERY FOLLOWUP LILI HAS WHILE BACKTURNED. DONT STAND THERE AND LET LILI GET A BACKTURN MIXUP. WHEN YOU BLOCK THIS, IMMEDIATELY SIDESTEP/SIDEWALK.

2. u/f+3
Her main launcher, -13 on block. 1,2 jabs work as basic punishment with every character in the game. Don't let her do this free, you have to punish.

3. ff+4
Hard to see low. You'll probably never block this on reaction, but be aware she has it.

4. f+2,3
Natural combo, so if the first hit lands the whole string is gauranteed. Great range, great juggle filler, great wall carry.

5. 1,2,3 or 1,2,4
Jabs into either a low or a mid. Lili is -6 on HIT with the low, but she has enough time to sidestep afterwards if you try and attack.

6. 2,4
One of her most important moves. Natural combo, 10 frame startup, -4 on block, wall splats. Both hits are high.

7. Crouchdash 1,2
Natural combo on hit. Delayable. Covers a TON of ground. She can cancel the 2nd hit into backturned stance.

8. Crouchdash 3+4
A fast good-tracking high attack. Knocks down on hit, +6 on block. If you block this, KEEP BLOCKING OR SIDESTEP. Please god don't try to attack because you're eating a counterhit. It doesn't look +6 on block, very deceptive.

9. d/f+1
Her standard quick mid poke. Doesn't track that well.

10. d/f+3
Mid heel. Bounds. +3 on block, don't try to attack after blocking this.

There. That's not all you'll see, but if you know the above info, that's more than enough to get you started. 10 little moves, learn em. And remember, because I'd like to say this again... IF YOU BLOCK d/f+3+4 JUST SIDEWALK EVERY FOLLOWUP. In the advanced class, I'll teach you all how to blow up people who try and sidewalk you in backturn, but against the average online players you're likely to face, sidewalking her in backturn will give you a massive advantage.

Enjoy. I'll be on tonight if anyone wants some practice.

Lars makes me hurt.
But at least I can hit his stupid ass.

Lars is way more mash friendly than the Capos or Koreans. He's just easier to get a read on and hella more punishable.

While I would say people need to stop judging Lars based on that, this is the same website that thinks Kenshi is 2nd in MK9 so I'll just shut up. :p

Smoke_Of_Finland

Believe in the hop kick
Given Lars' ridiculous speed and range he completely deserves to get hop kicked for his anal/oral entry mix-ups. Most of his moves give a knockdown on hit. Jinpachis 1,2 is -17 on block so fair is fair imo.

Seconded.

But serious beefsupreme, back when my brother could play, he ran an Eddy/Feng team,

Thanks guys, I will definitely check out these characters. Lars seems pretty crazy. Its crazy that you bring him up as he was already kinda getting some consideration for my second char. Thx again, I'll probably be on PSN in the next week or so after I learn to.....you know....move in this game lol.
