How's my volume?
Kombat Kodes don't need to be used, so I don't see a reason to turn them off but it'd be fine if it could be I suppose. Just don't press anything during the loading screen like you'd do in any other game.
As for toasty boost, yeah it could be bad if it decided a match, good thing we haven't seen any matches where it has happened (a toasty boost) yet.

In a way it leads back to making tournament mode an option instead of a KK, but with a couple of changes: No removal of first hit bonus, turning off fatalities and win poses, and no kombat kodes at the loading screen, in addition to it's usual "Foreground objects removed, Toasty Boost Disabled"

tournament mode does ALL THAT. the only thing it DOESNT do is turn off the shaking in the God of War stage for some reason.

In regards to the new one, I think there are some things that should be able to be turned off for tournaments (which would help in tourney viability):

-turn off fatalities (yea they are fun, but seeing reptiles one fatality for the thousandth time, esp if you have your son or daughter watching with you, is pretty sucky)

-Kombat Kodes (these type of variances have no place in a tourney setting)

-Toasty (yes it's a cool gimmick, but the possibilty of a match being upset because of someone getting a full meter just leaves too much to chance)

The fact that these aren't options to have the possibility of turning off make the whole thing (IMHO) a much tougher sell.

I also think that MK gets a lack of respect is because up until this game, a lot of the MK heritage has been less than stellar, at least from a tournament standpoint. While Capcom has had its flops as well (SVC Chaos, Capcom Fighting Evolution), its bread and butter games they make sure to spend the time to make them right. For a long time the MK franchise seemed more concerned with money, and less with the community. I do see this changing now though, and hope it keeps this way.

What the hell am I reading here?? Are you guys seriously trying to lay MK9 not getting as much stream time as you would have liked at the feet of Team Spooky, LI Joe, and Sweet Johnny Cage??

Let me clue you guys in on something, LI Joe and Sweet Johnny Cage are about as hardcore a pair of Mortal Kombat fans as you can get. They have broken they're asses to support UMK3 and MK9. They were having MK at they're tournaments when no one gave a shit about MK. And I first met Spooky last year at Road to EVO and he did everything he could to make sure we had the best UMK3 stream we could have, and since then hes always been a friend to the MK community.

So what happened at ECT? Bad luck, shit happens. No conspiracy, no blowing off MK,no disrespect or disregard. Just alot of incidents,craziness and even power outages that are totally beyond the control of LI Joe,Sweet Johnny Cage and Team Spooky.

These guys are our friends who bend over backwards to support our community. Dont shit on them please, I take personal offense to that.

In full agreement with you. BTW nice to meet you MK guys after a long hiatus from MK scene. Even "SUMMONING" :0 I can say this from being and real OG mk guy. I feel that a lot has changed from my days. Some good and some bad. These guys put their hearts into this tournament and sometimes that is not enough. Overall with all the set backs I thought it was great. LIJoe, SweetJohnnycage, 9.95, Shocker, and yourself put a passion into and it should be recognized. I will with a doubt be particapting in more of these as well as looking to help further in te future. With the release of old MK Komp soon, I feel that it will only grow. Now with that said keep me up to date for those Thusday nighters. We will talk again

Please don't post bullcrap yourself. Toasty does give you 1 meter bonus, IF you hit the opponent while Dan is still on screen.

@Dark_Rob: I don't think anyone here is really putting TS on blast or saying it's their fault. We just happen to be discussing a legitimate issue on the team spooky thread. :)


I agree it has very little to do with Team Spooky. But you can't deny there's a problem and we need to find a way to solve it. And we won't be able to solve anything if we don't discuss about it.

If the stream has 9k viewers on Marvel, and MK comes on and the stream drops to 5k, that makes it tough to validate more coverage to MK.

MK is ranked number 3 right now.

It's like the NHL or Soccer on TV in America, I like both sports better than the NBA, but it doesn't fucking matter because 90% of people in the country disagree with me.

I know you guys wanna see more MK, so do I. But you know how you can see 72 straight hours of MK? Go to a tournament.

Not being biased is good. Stay neutral and professional.

Other than that, it's good. The more MK-streams the better.
