MK9 Idea FOR US

Okay, I should be in bed right now... gotta get up in -4 hrs... fuck it. I want to propose an idea and quite possibly a crazy one....

Since most of us if not all of us will be getting MK9 when it releases I had the wild idea today that a bunch of us should set a date, time, place, etc to meet up and play this for the first time OFFLINE. This could be at someone's house or we could raise some money for some hotel rooms for a few days... whatever.

Because, I figure the same thing is going to happen... we get the game and we go online and play. Sure, awesome... I am down. But, what if, like I said... a bunch of us got together when the game drops and played it together offline?

Thoughts?

im 100% down for this :) and with a bunch of us chipping in for a room it wont be alot. or going to some ones place even cheaper :)

I absolutely love this idea and I'm down for it. Team Spooky did the same thing when the SSFIV pirate was leaked and so many top players from SFIV showed up.

It would be an amazing thing to do. If we could also get a stream going, it'd be hella sweet too. I want to see this get-together done! :)

Shock, Phil and Rob know streaming! This would be epic... :)

Shit... if we can get Check to go... and we have it in a hotel... maybe we can ask Team Spooky to be a part of it?

i like the idea and if we want mk9 to be big we most steam games as well.

i think the best time to do it would be 2 weeks to 4 weeks after the game comes out so that we have time to learn some combos and how the game really works

The chance to play many other Mortal Kombat fans in person as a celebration of the new MK's release? Sign me up!

Though if I may point out, if we expect to gather EVERYONE and play, it will be difficult to choose one specific location to accomodate everyone wishing to join. I'm sure everyone here is aware that the MK community spreads far and wide and extends practically all around the world, including the many corners of the United States. And it's not like we'll immediately have funds ready for airplane flights to this event and then back home like it's commonplace, due to our everyday lives and a declining economy...

To summarize what I'm saying, it would likely take more than just one gathering in order for everyone to be part of such an event. That requires more work and more funds, but undoubtedly it will be exhilirating, wouldn't you say? And I confess, I'm sick of having nobody to play offline with only online mode to keep me company, despite that there ARE some players I connect very well with to the point where it looks like offline matches. An experience such as what STORMS is proposing would be excellent!

I'm down 100% Lets start a thread and have "West Coast and East Coast" lists.

Not just a east coast/west coast gathering, but have a stream going for each area. :)

Phil,Shock,Summoning,AC1984,REO and myself would probably do something like this anyway. It would be cool to make it on a bigger scale and get alot of the east coast players down to put MK9 to the test. Phil has alot of connections within the tournament/offline community, so let me talk to him sometime this week and wel see what we can hash out. We have a legitimate east coast MK scene now, we should put it to work.
