Should HitBox be banned?

Why should my statements be redacted or censored exactly? I don't tread on your free speach so guess what you can do too mine.

Hitbox's ARE CHEAP.

Get over it. I love mine I OWN TWO ffs, but its cheap. lol Why would I lie to you -_-

Its just an opinion.

I def have mixed feelings on the hitbox for 90% of fighting games. With MK I think... theres too much sketchyness as it is.

Because its absurd. There cheap because some people find execution on them easier? People have been using keyboards for fight games for a while that hasn't broken anything.

You'd really rather win from an execution error than because you were outplayed? Isn't labeling something cheap the war cry of scrubs?

Carefoot It may interest you to know play pal wants me to get my custom all button controller completed so I'm more consistent with myiafs so that is more challenging for him to get past them. And I know others do them well with pad or stick, why shouldn't I be able to use a controller that might be my best option?

Pad players cannot do iaf fireballs nearly as easy as it is on hitbox its 2 buttons. THAT shortcut you brought it up is one that is not up for debate. Def cheap. Also looks fucking terrible on stream and its boring too watch. I play Stryker so I can just roll toss it but not every player plays the sonic cop.

edit: its up for debate they won't ban it but it needs to be considered that some controllers must be banned. Turbo, AI and other functions are unacceptable but if something over-simplifies mechanics than it gets goofy for competitive play. Period.

LOL. Go tell Reo he can't do IAFs as well on pad. If it bores you then don't watch, but I found matches like 16-bit vs Reo pretty entertaining myself. I didn't watch the video you posted, but if its refering to SOCD being allowed, that's been corrected in hitboxes, and the MC Cthulhu I'm going to use for mine has SOCD cleaning built in. So if SOCD isn't being cleaned is the crux of your argument, you might want to rethink. Even still, keyboards have no concept of SOCD so those can't be cleaned, and again keyboards are still allowed as controllers.

If thats not it, I have no idea what your talking about. No controller can take what is a three button move and turn it into a two button move; you'd have to mod the game executable to pull that off.

Sorry about reviving this thread but seeing that the last post was sunday, I can make my point without feeling weird about posting lol.

I've been playing since late december and picked up kabal 6-7 weeks ago. Only 3 of those weeks were with the hitbox. I've been playing on a madcatz fightpad for the rest of the time.

First two clips is me using the hitbox
Last two clips is me using the ps3 pad

I never used the ps2/3 pad for kabal or any character since jan. After 10minutes of practicing with the ps3 pad and kabal that is what I'm able to do. Sorry the execution is a bit off. Its 5am and I need sleep so I didn't do anything fancy. Wanted to post this before I went to bed.

I've ran into so many people saying kabal and the hitbox is hard. It isn't hard at all. Just because you have to put more time in something than the rest of the cast doesn't make it hard. If you can't afford it or can't get used to it, don't complain about it.

I put kabal as the example because he is the most targeted character with the hitbox. You'll have to take my word for it or go to Flawless Victory on april 14th. I'll show you in person that I can do it on any pad and hitbox.

Its not broken or cheap.

I use one. Why should they be banned? It's not like that one that you can record certain button combinations and execute them with a push of a button. It may make IAFB's faster, but the inputs are just as difficult

This has got to be the most inane thing I've ever heard of. Banning a controller for no other reason, than it being more precise than another controller. Nobody buy a good guitar cause it's better than other guitars. Hey, are you using an iphone?! GET OFF THAT SHIT! Gotta stick to my circa. 1997 samsung flip phone.

Are you joking me? It doesn't have a turbo button, doesn't support macros, doesn't do A SINGLE THING that another controller cannot do. Stop complaining, about this stuff. It's petty and pathetic, if a slightly shorter instant air fan is going to be the difference between winning and losing for you, than you didn't deserve the victory anyway.
Exactly...i think it's just a tool that should be accepted as an evolution.I know people who have them, it doesn't make them S+ tier.

Hmm.

Does anyone play RTS games? If they do, you know having things like shortcuts on the keyboard go a long way to improving your game. You can play with just the mouse and on screen actions, but using shortcuts on the keyboards goes a long way to improving your game.

I much prefer the buttons on a stick compared to a pad.

I'm kinda on the fence with hitboxes, but hey, they are accessible to everyone you know...

I just played Cossner who was using a hitbox, and, granted it was online, but I didn't feel like he had an unfair advantage at all. He still had to make smart decisions, he still had to time things right, etc. Any matches I lost were because I was outplayed / made dumb decisions, not because a hitbox is a win button.

If we were to draw the line it would be when they come out with a touch screen pad or a power glove like you said. The hitbox is built with the same parts arcade sticks are build with, Is not something that is completely different or unrelated to other controllers.

You said you double tap two buttons then press another one. Isn't that the same thing as pad? Is easier to do in the hitbox because is more responsive but its the same thing. Hitboxes are small and frankly i found them to be uncomfortable. My friend brought one and he found it was difficult to play. he tried to sell it to me and told me to try it out and i jumped at the opportunity because my main is kabal. i tried it out and i too did not like it.

The hitbox Is not a fucking joke, is not easy to get use too and buying a hitbox won't make you a better player. The hitbox was design to decrease human error , make inputs easier and make a controller more suitable for fighting games which is the same reason we now have fightsticks. If the hitbox did make you so much better than your pretty dumb for returning it. REO said in the podcast only reason he stopped using it was because it would brake on him too often.

I used tons at yes, soonk proved me wrong. I even commend him. If you ban HITBOX an keyboard then, ban pad and force all to play on arcade sticks supplied by tournament people. Set a standard and format.... But, that is LA-LA land and will never ever happen. Then all will be on equal fielding

If anything pads would replace sticks considering this isn't arcade era anymore.

I'm great in my world.
A good player can counter another. Just because someone uses something they are comfortable with, doesn't mean we all should get butt hurt over it. Learn to counter it, learn to be better than it or the player. In the FGC it's all about adapting to your opponent, not saying "they are better than me with the hitbox ban it and put them at a disadvantage."

I don't get how a controller can make a move safe. And can you use a keyboard for the same effect? If not, what is it about the HB that makes it unique?

I don't really agree with it not being fair to require somone to buy a HB. Any competitive game requires an investement. In this case, a console + MK9 at the least. For stick players, it should be easy to convert their stick to something like HB, for not a lot of money. I would think if you can afford a console, plus the game plus the money needed to register and get to a tourney, a HB shouldn't be a huge deal.

This. Also, what are the rules for keyboards? Are those allowed? Because I really don't see any difference between a keyboard and hitbox.
Obviously your not in a situation where you have any sort of financial difficulties. I was looking at the prices for them and saw they are priced at $159.99 with $20.00 shipping and handling. That is QUITE expensive and IMO team Hitbox has a lot of balls charging a fighting stick that much in the economy the United States is in. Unless you are in a financial crisis, you will never understand what some people have to go through which most of the time is very negative. Back on topic, the HitBox definitely makes certain moves more safe like Scorpion air tele but not to the point where it should be banned.

Hitbox
+ Reduces Human error
+ Less enfort on performing just frame moves
+ Allow faster input
- Complicated moves like KOF Specials, and some SF moves are inscredibly hard
- Fast moves usage will drain a lot from user performance

DPad
+ Use of Directional buttons with a single finger
+ Fast moves usage do not draing a lot from user perfomance
+ Complicated Moves like KOF specials and some SF moves are much easier
+ Allow Fast inputs
- More enfort on performing just frame moves
- A lot of Human Error
---------------------------------

Overall: You can get some benefits with one or other, but still any minus value like margin of error can only be reduced by practicing.
Do not forget that most of DPad users have they more suitable way of pressing a button, and this makes diference because it depends of how much suitable a joystick ist to them.

Example:
On a Scale of 1 to 10(1/10) i can do this moves on Xbox 360 and PS3:

Kabal iaGB with slight margin of error
X360: 8/10
PS3: 9/10
Kabal iaGB with no margin of Error (on jump frame)
X360: 7/10 (When i'm spiced up, i do not miss is 10/10)
PS3: 9/10

Consecutive NDC With no margin of Error
X360: 5/10
Ps3: 10/10

Scorpion iTeleport with no Margin of error
X360: 6/10
Ps3: 7/10

Other Instant Moves
X360: 6/10
Ps3: 8/10

This is a game where 2 directions decides a move, its up to you of how fast you can input 6 frames moves twice with no margin of error ^^

But if peoples are feeling that there is a disvantage of playing against an Hitbox player, then on those tournament everyone should play equal.

Unless a controller has Turbo functions or an "easy button" that kills your opponent in one second, it should be perfectly legal in tournament play. Controllers, Sticks, Hit-boxes are all legitimate options each individual can use to cater to their specific style of play and needs.

A controller (much like a character in Mortal Kombat) does not make or break someone.; You have to know how to use it / them in order to be successful at high level play.

If something is considered "cheap" but not really breaking any rules, why ban it?

Should we just ban players like REO or CD jr because they consistently place top 5 in tournament? Seriously..........

I didn't find your "joke" quite fucking funny at all TBH. Most important, it is NONE of your damn business how I afford what I have, I recently was laid off my job and have to be very strict with how money is spent. And when did I ever say I travel to tournaments asshole?? $159.99 is an EXCESSIVE amount of money to be spent on a fucking controller, whatever excuse you give to it. You should do some proper reading before posting comments with such disgusting ignorance in them

100-160 is not expensive for a quality stick. Do you know why? Because the demographic majority is willing to pay that much for the stick. Maybe you, the individual, find it expensive in your life, but apparently not to the many others.

and no hitbox should not be banned. Its not banned in other games, what makes MK9 special?
