They 100% made Havik & Dairou worse, I love MK1 & a lot of changes but let’s not cap
Its not cap. At all. Havik is way cooler both in design, his animations, his playstyle, you name it.

Also Dairou always sucked, let's be serious here.

I don't think NRS wants us to have online lobbies. Why else would they not be available yet? I can't imagine it possibly has anything to do with technological limitations.

Why wouldn't they?

Like playback mode, it was probably a feature that wasn't finished when the game was set to launch.

Beats the shit out of me. They had them in previous games and they're somehow missing in this one? What's taking them so long if it's something they'd like to do? Where's the transparency about it? I somehow doubt they're unaware of peoples' interest in them.

Maybe. I mean I'm not a coder and I have no idea as to what it takes to implement those functionalities. If we agree that the game was rushed and I think we do, I think some features were less prioritized than others in order to get the game out.

In any case, I don't think anyone at NRS is spinning in circles in their office chair and screaming, "lol, fukk online rooms!" It's probably a more complicated answer than that, like most things.

My guess is it was cut during early production. I mean it's not like it was some "new thing", they were around for like a decade across multiple games. Spent thousands of hours in lobbies all the way back in Inj1 lol. Seems like they purposely removed it during making the game, and the fact that it was never addressed as "rooms are coming" likely means they never were gonna add it back. Once they started recovering from the rough launch they probably figured working on other parts of the game was more important than adding rooms. I'd be willing to bet we never get it in MK1 which yea it's a bummer.

It seems to me that if they really didn't care to have quality of life features such as these, they would never have added them. It's possible we'll get rooms in a future update, like we got cross play.

As far as communication goes, you have to understand that NRS isn't it's own publisher. Bandai-Namco is. Capcom is. Molly Bee had a really great Twitter thread breaking down how even simple messages to the community have to go through a whole chain of command of approval first.

Trust me, I'd love for us to have Harada-tier communication from NRS. However, we have what we have an no one on this site is an expert on how the inner machinations of NRS/WB actually work when it comes to these things, so we can only speculate.

I think though - that implying that the developers simply don't care or are "too lazy" to say anything is a massive oversimplification.

That is fair and I didn't know that about the chain of command for even little tidbits of information.

The general person's lack of understanding of this, and their lack of even considering it when it's pointed out, always blows my mind.

A little more critical thinking. A consideration that things may not always be as they seem.
Critical thinking is scarce these days, and not just online.
