You picked the two fastest characters in the game to equal the speed shown in that Geras video.

Now do E Honda vs Gief
Or Manon vs Guile
Or Ryu vs Ken
Or Lily vs JP

And compare it to the "speed", not gameplay or "omg it's epic", the actual SPEED of the animations, seeing the combos hit, and tell me SF6 is "faster".
grapplers are slower
ryu ken and guile are midweight if that's a thing
Yeah Cammy and Kim are faster, they are also lighter.

MK used to have this, KL and LK used to represent this category, but even today they're as slow as geras when they do strings, that's my issue.

I like that the argument went from, "SF6 is faster than MK1" to, "Okay well these two characters move faster than anyone in MK1" to, "Okay well some characters are slow but idc because vibes."

Beautiful stuff, really.

I mean you can say SF6 looks better, plays better, is more artistic, more impactful, whatever, you can say it all. Those are all different conversations.

You can't say it's "faster", as it is literally, in the most literal sense of the word literal, slower.
it isn't though. it's visually faster both in the cherry picked Ken video (which is demonstrating a new hit confirm from cr mk? great example) and by the actual numbers themselves. There's 0 debate. It's case closed.

What do you mean cherry picked? I just put in search "SF6 Combos" and Ken came up. Is Ken not a 30+ years staple character??? If you do any "Ken or Ryu or Guile" or any staple character I can think of this is literally what their combos look like. Lolol what is this??

Also these are Ken combos with the recent patch. If you look at the Drive Impact combos, from impact to the next link to the next, they're especially slower than anything in that Geras video (a big character). In fact, after the sand clone comes out there are like 12-15 hits that the PLAYER is inputting within a couple of seconds. Ken or Ryu or whoever literally do not have any sequences that fast with inputs. By DEFINITION of the word "faster", the Geras clip is faster, as there are, literally, more actions being done in less time.

Edit: bro in that Geras clip there's like 15 inputs in like 7 seconds at one point lol which can be an often sequence for MK1 characters. Now show me Ken or Ryu or Guile or Blanka or Honda or Bison or whoever else I'm not thinking of playing "that fast".

I don't play SF as well and have no beef with the franchise, but it also looks slower to me than MK - perhaps due to seemingly every hit having a "hit stop" animation for impact. Maybe it feels more fluid to play than it actually looks, as I have heard from multiple (casual, mind you) friends that MK feels very stiff to play in comparison to SF.

YES!
It isn't often that a fighting game "feels stiff" once you actually know how to play it.

A game feeling stiff is almost always a casual level complaint (wiffing, mashing the wrong buttons, don't know how to move). Which I'll grant is an odd thing for NRS games considering their massive casual playerbase. They should probably work on that.

As someone who plays Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct and doesn't touch Street Fighter, the Street Fighter stuff certainly looks slow to me.
The new mechanics in SF6 definitely feel prescriptive and force an extra layer of decision making. There’s a really strong focus on drive meter economy and the games pace is already pretty fast with all the decisions you have to make moment to moment. The game feels like it has more active defense and offense than MK does.

Revisiting the chaos of the old fighting games is bittersweet, in general.
Here’s me, a bronze Wolverine eating a 60 +hit infinite from a grandmaster Spider-Man in Marvel Super Heroes, one of the few 1v1 games that were part of the most recent collection.

These games are pretty janky but they’re also pretty fast paced and fun. SF6 is definitely more considered than any of these old arcade games but a dash of chaos can be fun, and there’s a reason that marvel vs capcom collection is doing so well - it’s not just MVC die hards.

but there’s a balance to be achieved between a loose game and a tight game using maxes categorizing system.

Bro its been days since the discussion and you are still not over it lmao, got you out here arguing with yourself... absolutely rent free.
Yeah it sucks, especially for us other pc players, smaller pool of players means we run into cheaters more often, krossplay opens things up and makes it less likey to do so.

I know its hard to automate security, but when fsced with a video such as this with a crystal clear situation they should issue permanent bans. Should help discouraging morons and edgey kids from cheating.

This is the main reason I am not the biggest crossplay fan. There are a lot more cheaters on PC than people care to admit. It's in every FG too.
This came up earlier in a status post too,

one thing that I forgot to bring up is the insufficient hardware issue. PC players can be operating on all kinds of hardware that are barely capable of running the game which can lag up the match for both players. The standardized hardware of a console brings so many benefits.

Yes, but you cannot use krossplay (in ranked, at least) if your pc doesnt have an SSD or if it doesnt reach a certain FPS average mark. This is said so in-game. Furthermore, a good PC (or even an average one by 2024 standards) is enough to run this game better than on consoles.
