Not to shit on anyone's party, but FateUnknown is saying that KP3 is cancelled. He has been very accurate in the past so I am inclined to trust this even though it is not confirmed yet.

I originally tought we would still get kp3 because it has been in the plans as the minimum of support for this game,indicated by the game files, that its a given it will release irregardless of how khaos reigns does commercially.

If they really did cancle it, and fate is very reputable su its about 90% probablity its true, that would mean that khaos reings flunked bad like really bad, and that would be kinda hilarious cause the game that was supposed to be supported for ohh so long, as Ed boon would say, would essenitally have a less then 2 year support.

Basically if true it would mean that the party that just barely got started is essentially over.
Like the moment there was an ounce of something solid the game could build on, the rug got pulled lol.

But yeah good on crimson shadow for being so good on predictions...

As far as mk1 goes he has about as close to a 100% track record as you can get.

The fact that he stated it means its very very likely to be true.

There is an odd chance he got supplied wrong info, which is very rare, or nrs is sending out false info deliberatly, also rare/unlikely.

Sadly, I don't remember him ever having said something that was later proven to be a lie. There was a big fuzz after the leaked roster that, supposedly, we were going to have 24 characters and there was just a single one missing. FateUnknown was the ONLY (IIRC) leaker that said "nope, it's 23 characters. 22 + Shang preorder bonus". People were going wild about the last character being Cyber Smoke (which we did get a leaked screenshot of from before the game launched, which ended up just being a possible story fight), or Kronika, or whatever.

I'd be happy, but very surprised, if he is actually wrong this time.

The most annoying part of NRS is we never know when the game is "final" until months later. So unless Ed directly comes out and says "nah MK1 has more content coming" then we likely won't know if MK1 is dead until like 6 months after Conan releases

It sucks, but if this is where MK1 dies I think it's ending in a much better place than MK11 did, even if 11 got more updates. I just hope Fate is right about a few more Kameos coming. I think that's all the game really needs. Just give us a few more options for our mains, and give some powercrept ones like Stryker some love

I am genuinely more concerned about the future of Mortal Kombat 1 as well as the community than personal quarrels.

I have been enjoying the game more than ever before because the game is objectively a lot better than ever before.

However, no season three likely means no pro tour. Consequently, no pro tour means that the game will remain an online fighting game.

Tournament numbers for Combo Breaker and EVO will be disastrous.

Asking $70+ for an unfinished product and another $60 for the expansion has clearly infuriated consumers.

Even if you love the game and support the community, you cannot blame people for making the decision to vote with their wallets.

I've wanted Michael Myers ever since we got Jason. Myers is easily my favorite slasher and it saddens me that we got Freddy, Jason, Ghostface and Leatherface, but no Michael Myers. What a fucking shame. It would have probably been like printing money for NRS and WB alike if it had ever been made possible.

Idk about printing money. Myers is literally just Ghostface without the personality or fun.

Did WB really think that hordes of people were going to shell out $60 for a glorified cutscene that they could watch on youtube for free before the expansion even dropped?

$60 is nearly the price of a full game, and for that price tag, any "expansion" should have nearly a full game's worth of content available to play up front. The game is NOT offline/single player friendly, and the expansion really should have focused on that (and QoL for online).

I actually think that, gameplay-wise, MK1 is really good, and it's a game that I really WANT to play, but because of life, I just don't have the time to invest in getting good to grind Kombat League. If Khaos Reigns focused on adding more GAMEplay to the Mortal Kombat 1 video GAME, I would have been champing at the bit for an excuse to hop on and play again. Unfortunately, all KR was was a 90 minute cutscene and a 1-year season pass.

I don't know if it's ignorance, corruption, or complacency, but I continue to be baffled by WB's business decisions. I know that most people here are here because they like the competitive aspect of MK, and for many, KR is exactly what they hoped for, but for me and every other MK fan in my family/friend circle, KR was an obvious pass. In the end, the news saddens me because I think MK1 is quite fun and deserving of more content, but playing it casually makes me feel like I'm playing a crappy free-to-play game instead of a $100 AAA title, and I think that's why people didn't buy into KR.

nope you can't, this can also bleed to the next game, i don't think ppl will buy into whatever they sell because someone said so, its going to be either release with a demo or bust

  • 60$ WB Greed price, very expensive expansion (most expensive, I have ever bought)
  • Story was the worst of all storys NRS has ever created, including injustice
  • Big gender swap in our heated gaming time, has a bigger impact you all here will ever admit
  • still wack online experience
  • people just can't get used to kameos, especially real casuals
  • edit: oh and the extreme backlash on microtransaction went through all media, big impact (1000 costumes so many just color swap, 1000 voice, I forget the price on fatals, but it was high ...)
I am not surprised, if it is done ...
(I had my money worth it for sure, hunting all brutals, is mad fun for me.)

3D MK lets go, I want to play one with our current technologies:D

ps: Myers is for sure a bigger icon than ghostface can ever be, but again, license is the bigger factor, NRS can't just magically remove.

I mean, he couldn't predict how bad khaos reigns is selling. This can change all, liar is a little harsh.
Especially knowing Ed is not the head, it is WB gre... games with all the orders.
Pulling the plug is more and more common these days. Saving all ideas created now, for the next game.

ps: you guys should look up the roadmap(!) for unknown 9: awakening #HAHAHA :joker:

Idk how anyone can defend it now.

First we got the reports that it was selling slower than past MK games.

Then we got word street fighter had almost caught up in sales with them which historically has not happened.

Now we find out Khaos reigns sold like shit.

Maybe don’t shit on your longtime fans next time NRS.

The kameo system was not wanted, the major changes to all of the characters we loved was not wanted, and I’m going to say it. I’m saying it. We as Mk fans may like the 3D era characters but a wide audience has proven they don’t.

i stand by saying MK1’s initial hype came off the heels of MK11 which like it or not was their best selling title ever and now one of the highest selling fighting games of all time. They are going to actually have to work on their next game to get back in fans good graces. No more going off namesake alone. They also need to finally get a new fucking writing team with at least one knowing some history of the franchise. Dom is not allowed to be let this free ever again.

MK needs a restart because this game killed the hype.
