Khaos Reigns Patch Notes 9/24/2024 (via MK's Discord)

Patch notes being posted in MK's official Discord:

• Various fixes to improve game stability
• Added a new [High] value for the existing Motion Blur setting, with the previous [ON] setting now being noted as [Medium]
• Added AMD FSR 3 Image Reconstruction as an additional Upscaling option available
• Added a new graphical setting to disable the Film Grain effect
• Updated Nvidia DLSS Image Reconstruction plugin to version 3.7.1 and changed the Upscaling Preset used to C
• Implemented first pass of Razer RGB peripheral support for certain in-game sequences
• Reworked file structure to optimize future Patch download & install sizes (Note that additional optimization to reduce Patch install & download size is unlikely to be possible)
• Various UI fixes and improvements
• Various Mouse & Keyboard input device related fixes
• Resolved issues that occurred when using Low graphics settings
• Further optimized the PSO Shader Cache boot flow for certain hardware set-ups

Scorpion
• Blazing Charge hit animation adjusted, now has 19 more frames of advantage on hit

Smoke
• Increased hit region on Smoked Out (Up + Front Punch, Front Punch, Back Punch)

• Invisibility now goes away when hit by a parry attack

• Divine Protection now parries projectiles and allows for follow-ups with max charge
• Deity Push now has a different hit reaction with increased damage scaling
• Seeking Guidance now takes 5 frames longer to charge each Guidance level (Enhanced Seeking Guidance is unchanged)
• During Heavenly Hand, holding Front Punch allows you to spend Guidance charge to increase projectile speed and damage
• During Spinning Split Kicks, holding Back Kick allows you to spend Guidance charge to become projectile invulnerable and perform all attacks on block
• During Drill Kick hit reaction, holding Away + Back Kick allows you to spend Guidance charge to perform Deity Push
• During Drill Kick hit reaction, holding Towards + Back Kick allows you to spend Guidance charge to perform Umgadi Evade
• Fixed issues with Guidance lingering in certain situations

Omni-Man
• Around The World (Towards + Back Punch) now causes a bounce hit reaction instead of a splat knockdown

Homelander
• Fixed Diabolical Dash > The Seven Slam damage scaling when interrupted using default interrupted damage scaling instead of command grab damage scaling
• Fixed Diabolical Dash > The Seven Slam not doing additional damage against an opponent performing Up Block
• Fixed being able to move outside of the arena constraints briefly after hitting with (Air) Diabolical Dash > Vought Drop
• Fixed (Air) Delay God Complex not being possible when (Air) God Complex is performed at the lowest possible height
• Fixed issue with Flight speed being reduced after performing (Air) God Complex
• Fixed issue with endurance fights being delayed if (Air) Diabolical Dash > Vought Drop is used as the final hit on an opponent

• Twisting Blades (Front Punch, Back Punch) first & second hit do 10 more damage

• Rising Suns (Towards + Front Punch, Back Punch) first hit does 10 more damage

• Gate Splitter (Away + Back Punch) has 1 more active frame and had its hitbox adjusted

• If an allied Kameo interrupts Takeda after Smart Shuriken has touched the ground, the Shuriken will no longer disappear
• Fixed clipping issues when Enhanced Rushing Nimbus Attack is performed near Frost (Kameo) Ice Wall
• Fixed missing visual effects when more than six Smart Shurikens are used in rapid succession
Cyrax (Kameo)
• Self-Destruct no longer lingers when the round ends
• Fixed Horizontal Kopter Chopper chosen hit direction not working in certain circumstances during juggles

Darrius (Kameo)
• Ground Invitational and Army of Two can now be performed after Volleyballistic
• Fixed Army of Two attack going in the wrong direction under certain circumstances
• Fixed Heelturn being possible for an extended period of time if the opponent remains idle after being knocked down
• Fixed several situations where Darrius would not take damage or cause recharge delay when he is interrupted
• Fixed situation that could cause Volleyballistic to be possible from very far distance from his partner

Frost (Kameo)
• Fixed Ice Krash & Frosty's Revenge not being possible as a reversal
• Fixed visual issues that could occur with Ice Krash when performed on The Pyramid Arena Top Variant

Goro (Kameo)
• Fixed Punch Walk cancelled into Shokan Stomp causing slight damage to Goro's Partner
• Punch Walk can no longer be cancelled into other Kameo moves while Kameos are disabled

Jax (Kameo)
• Added new move Gotcha Grab

Kano (Kameo)
• Eye Laser now has multiple hits when blocked & has a longer recharge delay

Kung Lao (Kameo)
• Added new moves Orbiting Hat & Wobbly Hat
• Spin can no longer sometimes auto face during the first few frames
• Buzz Saw can no longer sometimes auto face during the first few frames

Motaro (Kameo)
• Fixed issue when Reflect parries a non-reflectable projectile that allowed the opponent to block punishes during their recovery
• Fixed rare instances of missing visual & sound effects when Motaro is hit by certain attacks

Sektor (Kameo)
• Added alternate Fatal Blow attack by pressing R1 during startup
• Activate Homing is now performed by holding R1
• Tele-Punch starts up 2 frames faster
• Fixed visual issue with Up Rocket causing ground impact effects after it has been parried

Shujinko (Kameo)
• Added new move Kingdoms Krumble
• Added new move Waterfall Chop
• Fixed interrupting Shujinko during Death's Embrace (Ermac) causing an excessively long recovery for his partner

Sonya (Kameo)
• Added new moves (Air) Ricochet Dive Kick & (Air) Bicycle Kick follow-up attack
• Sonya is now vulnerable for 17 more frames after Leg Grab misses

Sub-Zero (Kameo)

• Crystal Wall Punch is now mid (was high)

• If either of the first two hits during Roll are Up Blocked, the final hit will not come out
• Fan Toss can no longer sometimes auto face during the first few frames
• Fixed issue with Glaive return attack not using correct hit reaction facing if the opponent jumped over

• Fixed animation issue with Nomad's Touch when performed near corner while roster fighter has their back to the screen

• Torr Stance: Slide! has 2 more recovery frames on block
• Ferra is now considered airborne during Yo-Yo Throw, Swings!, & Potato Sack Toss

I was pointing out was that third strike had 10 times the excitement and noise as Mortal Kombat 1 and that was just for third strike pools not grand finals like it was for MK1. I was not blown up, people were trying to say that the noise was somehow suppressed for Mortal Kombat, but then amplified for every other game. Just more excuses. This is the same community who says there is a worldwide conspiracy on the part of the entire planet to keep Mortal Kombat down. And you think I’m the one that’s stupid…

That’s right, people like you always gloss over the fact that the community could not handle their numbers being in the gutter compared to every other fighting game in existence and because they couldn’t handle the truth of why their numbers are so bad they came up with a conspiracy theory that says the entire planet just has it in for Mortal Kombat and has hatched a diabolical plan to keep Mortal Kombat down. And don’t make me pull all the videos from all the content creators who address the point of the Mortal Kombat community was trying to make about this heinous plan at the entire planet has to keep them down.

i think of the "Big 3" as Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat. That's the Big 3. Don't minimize MK with some "it's actually good some no name game half the people haven't even heard of got more entrants".
The “big three” thing clearly comes from that astronaut tweet asserting GG sf and Tekken are the big three, right? I get it, MK sells like gang busters. But as far as the FGC is currently constituted it’s not on the line up at weeklies. It is advertised as a game at Boston’s big weekly but they rarely manage to get enough entrants to run a bracket,if it gets run it’s round robin style because there is a lack of interest.

edit: I’m sticking by the premise that it’s good a smaller dev team can outperform a AAA team in tournament entrants if their game is good

Yes, but Capcom ended up overhauling the game and earned back a lot of goodwill from the community and they knocked out out of the park with the launch of Street fighter 6. MK11 had people supporting the game, it had 1500+ people at EVO. But NRS ignored what people wanted, and they lost a lot of their goodwill, and they have continued on a downward note ever since. People did show up, but nothing got better and that’s why people are so upset now.
I mean, it took multiple years to get SF5 to a respectable place, and the community criticized both the game and Capcom the entire time. There was no goodwill. But they recognized that the community is not the game, and they still supported their competitive players and scene.

They have leaders who are mature enough to recognize the importance of shining a positive light on their scene even when the game isn't popular. But that takes people stepping outside of themselves and working to build others up, instead of trolling for views by trying to torch their own scene to the ground.

Right now Rewind and Sonic are playing an extended set. Instead of retweeting it or bringing positive attention to it, the same people who complain about numbers show zero support because they can't get over their own egos. It's crazily hypocritical.

In every patch people like Rewind and Sonic talk about how great the game is and how much of a better state it is and how they’re excited to play. Then one month later they talked about how they have no desire to play and they’re done. This happens every single time.

The fact that the matter is the de-powering of Mortal Kombat characters is no longer acceptable. if they severely powered up the cast to a very strong level, you would be amazed how many people start playing Mortal Kombat competitively

Sonic competed at EVO, Final Kombat, Combo Breaker, through the entire Pro Kombat, and ECT. You can look at his video uploads and they were as consistent 2-4 weeks ago as they are now postpatch. All positive content.

To claim he doesn't support the game takes some really wild mental gymnastics.

The tournament numbers speak for themselves. To claim that suddenly the game is alive and kicking or that it was ever in that state seems to be a very dubious claim.

To be blind to the obvious point that people just want a significantly higher power level. That’s all it would take and literally everything would change almost overnight

No one has any conspiracy theories, I certainly don't. Multiple people,including Molly Bee, told you that noise was made, to which you said, "Thanks, Molly!"

If you look at stuff like Geras' clone, Cyrax set ups, Havik ToD's, Sento Stance, and think "low power" you might just be retarded.

I have supported mk and the scene for FAR longer than anyone here. Do not pretend like I never supported the scene. Its a difference of opinion.. you love low power levels and find it acceptable. I cannot support (nor can many others) a game with an extremely low power level.

128 at MLG i’m that’s only because they kept it and they actually had to turn people away at the door. That would never happen in Mortal Kombat today, they’re baking people to walk in the door rather than having to turn them away because the bracket is full.

both MK9 and MKX head numbers that were very competitive with the other fighting games. Now you guys are getting beat by anime games that no one’s even heard of so how about you shut the fuck up. In 2015 at CB MKX had the same entrants as MK1 in 2024. The difference is that in 2015 those numbers were acceptable, certainly not acceptable for 2024.

No, he remembered accurately. MLG Anaheim had 84 entrants. MLG Winter 2012 in Raleigh had 62 entrants (with a $16k pot bonus). Which is why afterward, we had to do a big campaign to boost the Dallas attendance to try to keep MLG from dropping the game.

That inolved a big effort here, keeping track of signups for each scene, as well as Pig running his own tournament to try to get a winner from overseas (Madzin), and me having to front Madzin the money after it was stolen so he could fly to Dallas. We eventually capped at 96, not 128.

No, I don't know anything about a "tweet" lol. I call them the Big 3 because they clearly are, by far, the 3 biggest and well known fighting games for decades. Millions have been buying these games for decades, it's not even close. Some random new game or some old game like Killer Instinct or Samurai Showdown can't hold a candle to the Big 3 FGs. So my expectations for games that people who don't even play FGs know of and have even watched their TV shows or movies, is that they'd be the most popular. They obviously have no issues vastly outselling everyone. The Big 3 probably outsell all the other FGs combined. Which is great, that's why they're the Big 3.

However my standards are high, I expect the players to be as high as everything else too. If any of the big 3 gets outperformed by some game I don't even think people play it disappoints me. Do YOU play UNISYS? I'm sure you don't. I don't know who does. MK shouldn't get beat by games like this, ever, in any setting. They're too sold and too iconic alone.

Uniel had over 1100 entrants at EVO 2019. This year, they had 785.

The difference is, they aren't bashing their own community over it. People being deliberately toxic and then throwing their hands up and saying "But no one wants to join our community!" is strange behavior.

You want a bigger community, try building it up instead of trying to tear the competitive community down every time you post. Stop trying to discourage people from competing and encourage them to come out.

Players do not join the NRS community or play Mortal Kombat 1 because they dislike the game.

128 at MLG i’m that’s only because they kept it and they actually had to turn people away at the door. That would never happen in Mortal Kombat today, they’re baking people to walk in the door rather than having to turn them away because the bracket is full.

both MK9 and MKX head numbers that were very competitive with the other fighting games. Now you guys are getting beat by anime games that no one’s even heard of so how about you shut the fuck up. In 2015 at CB MKX had the same entrants as MK1 in 2024. The difference is that in 2015 those numbers were acceptable, certainly not acceptable for 2024.

Which top creators are bashing the game, much less the NRS community?

They are essentially expressing mild criticism while apologizing in the process.

While I personally believe that Tom speaks the truth, he has like 25K subscribers.

Players do not join the NRS community or play Mortal Kombat 1 because they dislike the game.

If they considered the game to be good, they would come out and play regardless of what anyone says.

I played MK9 and traveled to UFGT8.

Here's some FACTS for you: There were a bunch of characters that had negative ON HIT pokes.

Several characters with no armor to speak of.

There is no character in MK1 that suffers from those issues, whereas MK9 had them in abundance.

Fool.
 
Woa woa woa woa let's not go that far hahaha! MK9 was a broken mess of characters. Other than the bottom turds the top half would look like Zod vs Lex against current rosters of MK1 or MK11 lol.

Characters such as Scorpion and Rain had negative on hit downpokes, unlike their MK1 counterparts.
 
I mean, it took multiple years to get SF5 to a respectable place, and the community criticized both the game and Capcom the entire time. There was no goodwill. But they recognized that the community is not the game, and they still supported their competitive players and scene.

They have leaders who are mature enough to recognize the importance of shining a positive light on their scene even when the game isn't popular. But that takes people stepping outside of themselves and working to build others up, instead of trolling for views by trying to torch their own scene to the ground.

Right now Rewind and Sonic are playing an extended set. Instead of retweeting it or bringing positive attention to it, the same people who complain about numbers show zero support because they can't get over their own egos. It's crazily hypocritical.
SF5 Was probably the single worst modern FG the first couple of years. I believe it was that bad due to expectations vs reality. By season 4 and 5 it ended up pretty good, I played it a lot S5 and thought I'd never play SF again because of how disgusted I was at launch lol. I think MK1 could end up doing something similar. Where it had a rough launch, but as the game continues improving people who were out on it but stuck/stick around monitoring it will eventually pick it back up in a random S3 and like it, bringing back more optimistic takes like late season SF5. Feel like the SF5-SF6 arc is what we'll see for MK1-MK2.

It's been a while but I'm gonna spitball some characters off the top of my head that I think would straight up break MK11 or MK1 lol:

Kenshi
Cyrax
Johnny
Freddy
Sonya
Skarlet
Smoke
Scumbag Lao

And I feel like I'm forgetting a couple. Characters like your boy Quan were on the lower end of the meta and were capable of doing things that wouldn't even be allowed into MK1 without modern games having a nerfbat rage seizure. The MK9 characters were a group of like "the most broken guys win" with Kabal reigning supreme but Quan types still being broken just not broken enough to matter.

The game was bad, indeed, but the power levels were very high and the archetypes were equally represented in the tier list (i.e., Chun Li as the versatile character, Ryu as the footsies character, Nash as the zoning character, Rashid as the rush down character, R. Mika as the command grab character, etc.) There was a charm to the gameplay in vanilla Street Fighter 5 despite the inexcusable lack of content and the embarrassing online gameplay.

In my humble opinion, the worse modern fighting games are easily Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat 1. These games are essentially trash. I would play vanilla Street Fighter 5 over them any day of the week.

MK9 Quan is easilyyy my favorite Quan from any of the games.
