Quitting in MKAK and MK9 does not let you get away without a loss this is a myth. I simply quit matches in MK9 so I don't have too sit through fatalities all day on the ladder and I get all my losses. Disconnecting will net you a disconnect but won't net you a loss or the opponent a win.

This game session is no longer availble vs your opponent has left the game.

Also the ending of the game session can occur from true unfortunate situations where you get disconnected legitimately.

And for god sakes everyone switch to Ethernet cat-5 wifi is awful for competition!

To some people an online record is important. Everyone wants to feel accomplished in some way, if an online record makes people feel good than it has meaning.

Not everyone has access to a healthy offline scene, but they're still a part of our community.

seeing as a online record is the only thing ive got(none of my friends play mk) then yeah it is kinda important to me,not that its very good (about 500 wins-400 losses) id love to get together with some people off line and play mk like its supposed to be played.

Every time I've tried to go online, I've received a message saying "The network connection to your system has been lost. Make sure your Ethernet cables and router are connected properly." Whenever it does work (which seems to be rare), I get disconnected after one match. I'm signed into PSN and all of my other games work online. Any suggestions? :)

I haven't played MK9 in some time but your simply wrong about MKAK. If you exit out using the select button you get a loss but if you unplug your ethernet wire you are dropped from the game without a loss or loss of rating.

It does matter, but not a whole lot. To me it just shows the work your putting in in the game. My record is bad lol. Im like 650/1120. None of my friends really play Mk9 though and I don't have an offline scene where I am so I can only play people online. I guess its a gift and a curse.

No way important .... I sandbag and screw up all the time while online, due the fact I don't give a shit, and is boring as hell take this shit serious, while playing against noobs, scrubs, and assholes that throw up shit in the public chat .... so, online is for fun only and stress relief time

I think some players think its very important , myself being one :). I have no problem losing to good players its when I lose to random noobs just doing random stuff.

Player match is meaningless because there is not point of reference. You can play the same person 5,000 times and win every single game, but lose to anyone else you play.
Ranked match records carry a lot more meaning as almost every win is against a different opponent.

But I still wouldn't say online records are important in determining a player's skill level. Someone can spam Sheeva stomp every match, and probably end up with a positive record. I'd say online records simply show how much that person plays, which may or may not mean they are skilled.

Well, i like to keep the record for personal challenge, so i kinda do care about it, but on the other hand i really like playing against better players, and i dont quit if lose many times. And what comes to local tournaments, theres None here in finland.

Ranked matches are full of scrubs. I'd much rather play a long session with one really good player in which I either trade wins or lose mostly.

Online MK should be taken casually, there's no reason to take it so seriously. I look at a guy with a really good record and I think he's a noob hunter. Whenever you play MK and it's not a money match or a tourney match, you should play the game with the intention to improve. Losses happen and if they don't you're playing the game wrong. Online has the random variable of lag anyways which fucks up everything; oh how people love to jump and there's nothing I can do about it cuz I can't anti-air. Care about the games you're going to play and not the games you've already played, stop it with this "my e-peen is huge" shit.

These people always decline my challenges, and every time i see them in chat rooms, theyre always in (VS)

I've played a shit ton of players in the top 100 and I can say 90% of them are pretty legit. A lot of them tier whore, rage quit on fatality screen and/or abuse lag tactics. But overall they're still good and they know how to play. Some are just poor sport / sore losers because they take their record too seriously.

Number of wins and number of loses don't count. I look at the true skill rank, that's what matters. Someone with 8x times more wins than losses but with true skill rank of only 26 is likely a very bad or average player that rage quits a lot. I only have 2x times more wins than loses but I have 37 true skill rank so people know I'm legit and rape a lot of top player asses. :)

You lag pretty badly, that's probably why.
