Last roster slot theory

I have a theory, and y'all gonna hate it.

I believe that the last slot on the roster, is a character you can create for story mode and for whatever the map/konquest mode will be, which would coincide with
what was in r0000r's script leak

Not only that, but this character we'll be able to create will also be on the Kameo roster. Here's my evidence.

1 Kameo out of ALL of them is greyed out, same with the base roster. Why? The game is coming out in 5 weeks, there's no way they still haven't finished the last character, or haven't decided who to put in. The only plausible and logical answer, is that it's a character we'll be able to create.

I really think this is the most likely outcome. The only other things that would make sense IMO are:

1. A character they started developing really late, doesn't show up on story mode (isn't story mode the main source for the legit leakers?) and has a role in a future story expansion

or

2. The old theory of a character that was supposed to be DLC but got moved to main roster for... reasons, so that's why they don't show on story mode.

But the "protagonist" thing really makes me think it might be a character creation thing, which I do hate, but since the roster is so good I could let it slide.

Could be cool, especially if you can design it and unlock cosmetic items and special moves, could kind of create any characters that people want but are missing from the roster

Yep! There's a lot of evidence and it's not like it's the first time MK games gave us the freedom to make a character so it wouldn't be completely out of left field.

I think is not related to Kreate a fighter stuff, since, would be a nightmare to balance that inside a game with well defined characters in the roster, so, nope, is not a kustom kreation stuff ....

IMO, it seems that is a new character, so, that is the reason that noboy know about it, and probably will be the very last one to be revealed, that is the reason that noboy know nothing about, or, if knows, don't want to spoil the surprise, hehe :D

In the modern games, MK9, MKX and MK11, all of them just introduce new characters, so, I think MK1 will do the same, but, in a very humble way this time, just putting only one new character, because the game intention is bring back the 3D characters and valorize the classic ones, so, one new among the veterans seems fair .... ;)

I think this is more likely. Not a new new character but a “new” reimagined character like cyber sun zero in MK9

If there was a Kreate a fighter, why not talking about it with the reveal of the game ?
It's a big feature in a fighting game, it would be strange to promote it only few weeks before the launch, in my opinion.

I don't lean in either direction regarding the KaF, but NRS has been deathly silent regarding just about EVERYTHING in this game so far. We really don't know anything about the game other than it's a 1v1 fighting game with kameos. So them being quiet about a KaF character is consistent with their lack of info so far.

I don't blame them lol. The entire roster has been leaked. The KP got leaked way before the announcement. Let them save some surprises for release. I'm not even mad if we don't know what the game modes are until release.

Do you know much about the gear system and alternate costumes? Do you know what mode the Krypt was replaced with? Will there be crossplay in the game? I'm just saying...

I wonder how Protagonist fits in with the Map mode and the possibility of Shang Tsung being led around by Damashi instead of Shujinko. Shang Tsung would make for a good protagonist since he can shapeshift. In fact, it would be interesting if he got his shapeshifting powers from Damashi in this story. In fact, I think it would be cool if Shang Tsung WAS the protagonist and we had two versions of him: a young one as he starts his journey and an older one after he's mastered his shapeshifting, soul-stealing sorcerer abilities.

I'm thinking Damashi is Shang from another timeline this time around, trying to mess with Liu's universe. I think it could be interesting if the protagonist is a young, naive Shang from LK's timeline, but maybe it's really just a new character.

I think that’d be dope if they brought KAK (KAF) back, lol. I think it was officially called “Kreate a Fighter” but I always called it “KAK”, aka Kreate a Kharacter. That shit was mad fun in MKA. It was completely broken, but so was that entire game as they didn’t really care about balance in the 3D era. I remember all the infinites and spamming the unblockable back breaker ground pound move (I believe that was Dairou’s move). That move was so fast and super safe. And you could also do some glitches when kreating your fighter to give them moves they weren’t supposed to have, or give them moves that weren’t actually even in the game. Aka giving air properties to a move that should’ve only been able to be used on the ground using the dive kick menu glitch.

Anyway, back to MK1. What if you’re right, and that character is the only character in the game that can use variations? That way you can Kreate a Fighter that has different fighting styles to choose from. Obviously this character would be barred from ranked and tournament play, but would be fun to mess around with.

I mean, they brought back air kombos, AND they have a lot of 3D era characters. It’d only be fitting to also bring KAF back! lol
