When you open MK11 on PC you get a MK1 poster which says "pre-order for Shang and beta access". This must be a mistake right? They said no beta for PC...

Know some of you hated MK21, but there was a lot I loved about it (I'm not blind to its flaws, but compared to Annihilation it was a masterpiece). And in the new MK1 trailer, I absolutely loved this homage (looking forward to a young thirsty Shang again, it's been a long time since Conquest):

I love this. Love to see the movie getting acknowledged in any way tbh. I rewatched it recently with my nephew & had so much fun. (He's a little MK fan in the making. I had never seen the kid get more hype than when he watched Cole fight Goro & the Scorpion & Sub-Zero fight at the end had him geeking cuz he plays as Scorpion in MK11)

Also, I got a lot of MK21 vibes from the trailer in general, especially with Shang Tsung & Raiden.

Hope this leads to MK21 skins (maybe even with the actor's likenesses / voices?)

No Cary Tagawa makes me sad, but MK21 Shang makes me less sad.

Is MK21 a masterpiece in any way? Nope. But what I do see it as is mostly a remake of MK Annihilation. You have the heroes wandering a desert wasteland to meet the mystical character(s) who'll help them on their journey. The villains have tattooes that leave their body upon defeat and are defying the elder gods to cheat the tournament rules. And compared to MKA, its version of basically the same story belongs in the Smithsonian.

That's awesome, love it! :) Totally agree. It was a ridiculously wasted opportunity with MK11 to not have MK21 movie skins in the game, but if the new game has references/movies/skins I'll totally forgive them, especially if the sequel is on the horizon. Loved Kano, Shang brought the Shaw Brothers vibes, Mileena was absolutely (disturbingly) gorgeous, Sub Zero looked amazing, Sonya was everything MK11's flat rendition wasn't, and sure Cole was meh, Goro was a jobber, Scorpion was under utilised and Raiden was a bit flat, but for me the good moments outweighed the bad and it was a million times the movie Annihilation wasn't. The beautiful Nitara having her head sawed in half followed by Kung Lao having his soul sucked was devilishly fun Mortal Kombat monstrous nonsense (in the best possible way) and am thoroughly looking forward to the sequel and hope the next game capitalises on cross-media marketting. Hopefully even some animated WB movie skins added to the selection too. I just love the franchise existing in one big messy universe, warts and all, I don't like things that certain fans may love being discarded and relegated to the 'non-canon' bin, like Conquest, Legacy, Defenders of the Realm, Annihilation, Defenders of the Realm, Federation of Martial Arts, MK21, the WB animated movies, The Journey Begins etc. etc.

All offer something to the narrative, especially when the games aren't even remotely consistent themselves, so I just want them to embrace all the wacky and wonderful moments the series has given us over the years and not treat some instalments like they don't exist. Some fans love Annihilation, some love the MKM FMV, MK11 acknowledges MK95 and The Journey Begins, Conquest created the Lin Kuei logo and Zaterra, etc. etc., so let's just embrace the fanbase for all the things the different media instalments have brought to the franchise, because Mortal Kombat has never been consistent, so I just love it when it embraces all aspects of the fanbase, so that we can all be united in our love of the franchise.

We need more cross-media promotion like that to really tie everything together. We got Justice League skins in Injustice 2 for crying out loud...give me this!

MK21 Shang Tsung, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Mileena, Kano, & Kung Lao skins are a must imo. ESPECIALLY with all of these characters being on the base roster in MK1.

This probably hasn't been mention, but calling the game "Mortal Kombat 1" is stupid. Doesn't matter if time has been reset. There wouldn't be a Fire God Liu Kang if it weren't for MK11. Hence the continuation here.

It's a new timeline. Yes, he is a Fire God because of MK11. But that simply carried over into the reset because he was the one controlling the hourglass. It's not a continuation of MK11's story beyond Liu Kang being a Fire God. It's a full reset. Entering a fresh era. Hence the 1.

What's interesting to me is that it was explicitly called "Mortal Kombat 12" during the investor call. I wonder if the title MK1 is something that was just settled recently or if it's referred to as MK12 internally.

There's a guy over at gamefaqs who claims you have a limited form of control over the Kameo fighters and you can control them for a small period of time, but they are not as fleshed out moveset wise as the 'normal' characters.

For all I know, this is bullshit from a fake 'insider'.

However, like I said before, having the Kameo fighters possess a generic old school MK1-4 moveset plus special moves would be MUCH better choice than a simple assist button.

We'll see.

I believe it. Considering that's the main gimmick of the game, I'd be surprised if they just popped in for an attack and left. That being said, there better be some cool Kameo Brutalities.

Why not both? Perhaps using your character has the three offensive bars, and by using one bar, your Kameo does the jump in, attack, jump out. The classic.

But what if...

By using all three bars ...

Your character jumps out and their health starts to regenerate, while your kameo jumps in and fights normally in your character's stead (with a generic/limited moveset) in order to give you time to recover some health. But during that time, the opponent attacks your Kameo directly and if they drop the Kameo's health to zero, your Kameo is taken out of the match.

That way, Kameos feel like actual characters ('I get to play as Khameleon, YAY!!') and you feel better than not having them in the roster at ALL, or just as an assist.

But to be honest, who the f even wanted Khameleon to come back? xD she is in Mokap tier.

Moveset thiefs and Joke characters are the most uninspired ones out of the whole MK series.

That's why probably I never liked Shujinko and had some issues with Shinnok and Shang in the past.

If she is back - she needs to have her own moveset. Not Scorp's spear and Reptile's acid.

Having said that, I'm taking them all with my arms wide open over ANY guests.
