Can you fill up the Arcane Sentinel Beam at Hardlight Ammo Caches?
Yes!! You can’t drop it at all once you do that part when you fight the phantoms. Be sure not to drop it even if you have to use a weird primary weapon it is well worth it to have for Escharum, Jega, Harbinger, and the hunters.

Neat. I actually find Escharum one of the game's best done boss fights, very well balanced. Jega isn't that hard once you figure out he's very vulnerable to Grapple Stun, but he's annoying (especially because he can scripted despawn early on negating any damage you do to him).

I think they’re both pretty good. I didn’t die to Escharum on legendary because the shock rifles they have there make it easy if you work the angles. Jega killed me once because you basically just have to make one real mistake. Hardest is probably Harbinger as it should be.

While I'm also enjoying the show, I gotta say that I'm so far not very interested in Kwan or the Madrigal storyline. Spending the entire last episode on her made it hard to ignore how much more I enjoyed the previous episode that only featured John by comparison.

It's hard to call it Halo even considering its not canon.

Even on its own the writting is just sooooo bad, almost like Picard levels bad (althou not quite as bad). That love scene with Makee in the latest episode was so cringe.... but that's just a top of the iceberg. Kwan storyline is like the most pointless (filer) thing i ever seen in a tv series and at this point i even forgot how Chief looks like with the helmet on since he pretty much runs around without it (or suit) 99% of the screen time.

Everything added to the series by tv writers is just subpar and sadly thats like half of the show if not more. At the very least the final episode looks like it gonna be pretty decent so im kinda looking forward to it. So much wasted potential thou, i hope that season 2 (which is confirmed) will be much better.

Star Trek: Picard has been very disappointing. Each season starts out with potential, and then devolves into a train wreck I can't look away from.

The only parts I’m enjoying are the parts that have to do with Halo. I would have been ok with different if different was as good as them just doing Halo CE as the first season. Halo CE with flashbacks to flesh out MC would have been the perfect first season. Also they’re fucking snakes for censoring people like Angry Joe for reviewing the show negatively. I’m not a fan of him really but anyone should get to say whatever they want about this or any show / movie.

Picard is like 1/10 at best. No idea how this even made it to season 2. It's a total dumpster fire. I mean if their goal was to destroy Star Trek franchise then yeah mission accomplished.

Halo is not that bad, althou Kwan storyline is pretty much on par with Picard, the only redeeming quality in it is.... Soren. Action when we get it... is pretty decent, same with everything regarding the actual Halo (althou Chief running all the time without helmet kinda bothers me) but thats like half of the show time at best. I really do hope they gonna cut Kwan and all that unnecessary BS from season 2.

Halo definitely has the echos of something good, the action is pretty good for sure. Picard is unbelievably bad.

Only reason I'm watching Picard is to hear John de Lancie talk, which isn't many scenes...
I'm watching it strictly for character nostalgia, even though the character's aren't properly portrayed as themselves most of the time. It boggles my mind as to how many characters they're having Brent Spiner play. Character development is so poor in the show, I can't remember most of the new characters names, and I've watched all two seasons...

I'm also quite confident the writers and show runners don't understand how the Borg function at all.

(althou Chief running all the time without helmet kinda bothers me)
Keep in mind in-game, we're almost always seeing John in combat zones, hostile environments, etc. where he's immediately springing into action and thus gameplay. Halo: The Flood, the novelization for Halo: Combat Evolved, had him out of armour constantly while he was at Alpha Base and therefore out of live combat areas. It's the same concept in the show; we're constantly seeing John at Fleetcom, and other non-combat areas, so him being out-of-armour or with his helmet off makes sense. The only part where I felt it made sense for him to keep his helmet on was when he was walking around the Rubble outside of Soren's personal asteroid.

On a positive note, Halo Infinite is just as fun on my 4th playthrough. Excited to get back to it in season 2. Maybe my favorite FPS mechanically, just wish there was more content. Shoulda delayed it a year.
I'm looking forward to doing my 4th playthrough sometime this summer!

I'm well aware, that's just my personal preference not something i really hold over the showrunner vision. If that would be the only thing that bothers me with Halo tv series i wouldn't even bother writing about it, sadly it isn't. Lets hope they will finish strong with the last episode of this season.

Season finale was fine for the most part.

Few dumb moments (like why didn't John just kill Covenant leaders while being 10ft away from them) but i guess it was inevitable. Action scenes looked good, finaly some more fpp "from the game" scenes. Makee death (if she's really dead) was pointless and dumb, her whole plotline was rushed and ended poorly. Thank GOD for no more Kwan. Halsey plotline was actualy handled pretty well. Decent, final cliffhanger.

This gives me hope for a better season 2.

The show really does go from good action scenes to some of the worst bastardization of an established character I have ever seen. Near the level of Luke Skywalker in TLJ or Joel and Ellie in TLOU2 or Captain America in Endgame. I like the actor a lot though!

Finale was a lot more acceptable. There are glimpses of a great show every now and then, they just emphasize all the wrong things. I hate Kwan and Makee so much. I wish John being an emotional wreck was at least eased into, wasn't earned at all.

This is salvageable though, I have hope. I've acted like a lunatic hating on the show, mostly for fun, but I think it has a chance to be good.

4/10 for season 1 on it's own, below average TV.

2/10 as an adaptation for Halo. I'm ok with it being it's own thing, but it needs to at least be recognizable to Halo fans beyond just paying lip service to things we know about. Devoid of all of the themes, sense of wonder of whats to come, the equal parts dread and excitement of discovery, or human perseverance against dismal odds. They can STILL do the fall of reach and more or less transition into the Halo we know. Halo fans have roasted this show but they are forgiving - see the reception of Halo Infinite campaign vs the reception of 5.

I guess i should add my summary for the first season as well. I'm gonna go with plotlines since its the best way imo and lets start from the worst:

- Kwan, i mean Kwan ffs.... the most pointless of all, pure filler which lead to.... nothing. Taking like 1/3rd of the show time. On the other hand thank GOD for that, coz it gives me hope that we will never hear about her again... or at worst she's gonna be in 1 episode of season 2 as a guest character, shows them where the Halo is and be gone for good. I know, i'm a crazy optimist.

- Makee (if she's dead, thou i got a feeling she's not) - her character development was rushed, inconsistent, her motivation changed like from one end of the spectrum to the other in a blink of the eye. She was loyal to the covenent then in like 1 episode she switched sides and was loyal to John then again in the last episode she's back on the covenent side. Like WTF? Also her death (again if she's dead) was one of the most anticlimactic moment i've seen in recent years in any tv series. Which is a shame coz she could've been a cool antagonist character if only the writing team for the show had more creativity than a monkey in a zoo. Also why would the Covenent want to kill her? She brought them everything they wanted and was practically raised by them. Made 0 sense.

- Soren was a pretty cool character but he was very underused and brought down by Kwan awful storyline. There was like 0 reasons for Soren to do the things he did for Kwan and on top of that his storyline lead... to.... again - nothing in the end. They almost made me dislike him.

- USNC is the dumbest military force i've ever seen in a tv series. Like seriously some of the decisions they made was cringe worthy. "Oh hey Makee, we just gonna keep the ONLY Covenant ship we have in an open hangar with no security what so ever and don't you worry we gonna refill it for you, so when you decide to take the artifact and escape - its gonna be ready for you. You're welcome.".

- Master Chief / John, fuck me i don't even know where to start. He is all over the place, mostly as John but even as Master Chief he made a lot of poor decisions which made no sense. The idea that Master Chief would just go to bed with somebody like Makee after like 15 minutes of dialogue was like the most cringe worthy scene in the whole series... i was rolling my eyes for the whole lenght of it.

- Halsey, i kinda liked her storyline it was pretty decent althou there was little to no exaplantion behind her motives or why she is the way she is. Her ending was also pretty decent given how dumb the whole UNSC was.

- Silver team for the little screen time they had - did the most out of it but thats probably coz of the scenes they were in - which for the most part were fighting scenes.

- Cortana, i liked everything about her, she was pretty much spot on for me with one exception - in the season finale where she could've help silver team / John multiple times by controling the ship but she only did that after Chief "died" and the rest of the team was pretty much down - which i thought was pretty dumb for the most inteligent AI ever created.

All in all, it's a mediocre show. It could've been much, MUCH better. There were like 3 decent / good episodes in total, the rest was thrash, so for me it's a 4.5/10 and im being generous here.

I really hope that the second season gonna be much better... just please FIRE those lazy bums.. i mean season 1 writers and hire someone at least semi competent at his job and all will be just fine.

Good breakdown, I agree completely, I was too exhausted to write all that out and think about the show that much. Master Chief was terrible in this show, not just with his stupid decisions, but overall poor characterization, the character was assassinated before he even got to be established. Aside from laying pipe with probably the worst possible choice he could have made, he attacked Dr Halsey (BIG problem), befriends Kwan immediately, and is constantly throwing emotional rage fits.

When he starts breaking out and getting more emotional in the games (Halo 4), it works narratively because of how he was established in 1-3. Halo 4's narrative would have felt melodramatic (still kinda does) and forced (like the show) if the player didn't already at least understand the "machine" part of him from the previous games before meeting the "human" side. Then full circle to Infinite where he is a good mesh between his human emotions - mainly his immense guilt and shame from his failure, and his "machine" side being badass Master Chief doing his job. His helmet and armor are off way way way too much. Every other Spartan in the show were a million times cooler than Chief. It is okay for him to be different from the games, but not TOO different, like it may as well have been some generic sci fi channel shit instead of wasting the Halo IP. It has set us back years now at another chance at faithful Halo content.

The show has a lot to make up for now, and the stupid ass writers made it so much harder on themselves to make him compelling in the future.

Digital Foundry has done a video commenting on many of the bug fixes from the Season 2 patch. Looks like some good, long awaited stuff:

Interesting comment made later in the video about the original version of Halo 3 as well.
