Go for it! She does have demanding execution and people are starting to study the MU a lot more. Julia being a cute nerd made me want to learn her, but I couldn’t do shit with her when I tried, lol.
I was having trouble with her not too long ago. I think I posted in this thread about it but spent a little more time in the lab and I understand her a lot more now. Just need to get the advanced stuff down with her rolling stance crap in her combos, whatever that is called. Main reason I like her is because of her Indian theme and her loving nature/earth. Adorable.

Julia is quite scary, I do not enjoy playing against her lol. If u do enjoy her, probably a good main as she is quite competitve! I’m kinda like mumu tho her inputs annoy me so I wasn't too interested.

Right now I play Master Raven, Lidia, Kunimitsu and Julia so I think those are a good four characters to dedicate my time to at the moment. Make sure I won’t get bored either because there’s a lot of options for these characters. Especially Raven and Julia. Lidia is pretty one dimensional, just hits hard. Kunimitsu I feel is around the same as Lidia for the most part.

Kuni is slipping under the radar, so i think top 15 really suits her placement, ppl overhype her a lot, but she isn't completely ass either, i mean.
  • Probably the smallest hitbox in the game
  • among the best 3D movement in the game, includes sidestep
  • great range on jabs and df2
14f bufferable launcher

the thing that really keeps kuni players in check it's her creativity barrier, you have to actually learn and be creative with her and how you setup your damage, every single tool she has can came out at anytime on a good kuni main and for that you have to learn how to play the long game with very limited pokes and mids and less uncessary movement as possible.

When you dominate that aspect of her gameplan, if you are fighting someone of equal patience it becomes the longest matches in the game, because if the kuni main doesn't do this, he will just kill himself.
On the other hand, if they just press buttons and hack away at any chance, then even her risky stuff is going to destroy.

I think Devil Jin is still better, than Regular Jin. Regular Jin got a LOT harder to play, sure he pokes much better now due to B21 being probably the best mid poke and whiff punisher in the game, but to actually land CD4, FF3, and even to start any combo with any of his over the top moves are extremely hard now. F4, standing 4, even EWHF which you need to just frame every single time.

the good thing is, if you master these tools by execution Jin will feel like he doesn't really got as much nerfs, but everytime you fail to convert these tools when needed you will feel the downside.

Swap Fahkumram and Lidia with Devil Jin and Julia. Fahkumram is not Top 5 after his nerfs and his laughable SS. Lidia is far too linear with her attacks, has a pretty bad poking game (terrible set of lows), and cannot deal with SS too well.

Steve is still in the Top 10, even after the nerfs (which were deserved). Steve players are some of the biggest crybaby titty babies in the community, acting like he’s dead, even though Steve has always been top-tier in Tekken.

Knees list some how leaves out Steve lol. But at the same time I've only won locals with my main (kaz) and it was not against the best in the world.
In saying that I did say lidya was dumb on release and it seems to ring true. Just saying lol

Lidia was admittedly busted when she came out due to her fast recovery making her almost impossible to whiff punish. Her nerfs were justified and she’s still good, somewhere between #9-#12 in the tier list.

She was never as broken as S3 Fahkumram and Leroy were. I plugged at the versus screen against every Fahkumram and Leroy during S3 before I stopped playing until S4.

Lidia can play this game with a single jab, 122 for 10f punishes, a df1, a generic d4 and a hop kick for risks, she doesn't need to do anything else.

Exactly
What even makes he think fahk is in top5? What tools?
He is so unsafe on top, read one d4 and launch him for it with -16.
(one of my sparring partners does it)
Slowest "orbital" in the game, uf1 (no hopkick)
Not a single descent high crush.
Every low at least -13.

Is it his gimmick wall splat with super low dmg anyways? ...
Is it his worse version of an electric with bf4?

I have heard, after the last massive nerfs, even arslanash said, he is not meta anymore.

I still play him because I am a huge muay thai fan but not because I think he is a top tier.

I think dvj is better than jin. Not a huge gap but season 4 dvj is for sure better than jin.

In a death match he is not as good but in a best of 2/3 he is definitely top 5

Imo you can say that to almost every fighter in tekken because fighters are complex and you may not know the tendency of your opponent. (solid play, yolo play, counter play)
And the fact that Fahks SS is the worst in the game (he cant step some strings while even Kuma can)
you already know he wont step you a lot, makes him even more predictable.

Kuma won a real tournament because of that. (against DJ)

He doesnt even have a scary 50/50 like Anna/Feng+ has, for example.

I don’t know what they were thinking when they did that to Fahkumram’s SS. Any Muay Thai practitioner with agility that poor would get knocked out… in seconds, so damn sure wouldn’t become a master of the craft like Fahk is.

He definitely needed some nerfs, but that was the dumbest and laziest way to nerf him. It’s still telling that Leroy is still a Top 5, arguably Top 3 after all the nerfs, but Fahk is a lot more reasonable.

Hey guys, dropping out a few round analysis to help others grow at compact tekken, be sure to check it out and leave your feedback, had tons of fun in this one, and will surely do quite a few for a while if necessary.

here is part 2

The leaving at the versus screen exploit is annoying as hell. I started trying to learn Ganryu, and I have people quitting at the versus screen constantly, even with my 8 wins and never having fought some of the quitters.

I hope they fix that exploit in the next Tekken. It’s funny at first, but gets grating very quickly.

Today’s patch is laughably bad and seems like a farewell to stall for T8 development time.

* Wall stun is meaningless, as it merely forces a mix-up. It’s obviously a dead mechanic in infinite stages and is useless for most of the cast, since most wall stun moves are either i30+ and/or on moves that are garbage.

* Wall stun on hit for moves that were previously a true wall splat is a disguised nerf

* Fahkumram, Kunimitsu, and Lidia were beaten to death by the nerf bat.

* D. Jin, Geese, Julia, Leroy, and M. Raven caught significant nerfs, but don’t have on clown makeup

* Asuka, Jack-7, Josie, Katarina, Lei, and Leo are the biggest winners

* Leo could potentially become a Top 10, if not Top 5 character

* Akuma flew under the radar (no actual nerfs) and is objectively the best character in the game

i really REALLY don’t understand why they gutted Lidia like that
They don’t know what they’re doing. Political Storm needed to be nerfed, but they did too much. Neither Lidia nor Kunimitsu were ever close to as problematic as launch Leroy or Fahkumram.

Removing a plethora of KDs and launchers is nice, but came too late. The game has forever been tainted by their homogenizing the cast by giving everyone launchers, damage, carry, and KDs.

Good hot takes. I agree with everything.

I would merely add that the wall crush, the official name for the new wall mechanic according to the patch notes, is arguably an experimentation for Tekken 8.

Leroy was one of my main characters before this patch. I believe that Leroy along with Fakhumram and Lidia have become a waste of character select screen space.

Certain previous top and high mid tier characters who are relatively unchanged, such as Claudio, Marduk, and Paul, are also winners by default.

i really REALLY don’t understand why they gutted Lidia like that
As the community becomes larger and larger due to increased sales, the quantity of casual gamers increases and false prophets like MainManSwe, who does nothing but advocate for nerfs for every single top tier character in the game.
