Hello everyone
Please don't be rude as I try never to be rude to anyone. If you don't believe what I say or don't care, that's ok, let people here who want to know about the MK film universe ask me and be told, the thread is not for people who don't believe it.
I am a Mortal Kombat fan first of all and I enjoy talking to calm and educated MK fans. I am not hurting the MK franchise in any way by saying this, just bringing more focus to it, the hardcore fans will be the only ones who will care about these spoilers. The movie was an amazing financial success, even though many did not like the portrayals (which can and will be better). The opening weekend projection was of 11 million and it nade nore than 24!!! It finished with 85 million at box office on a 50 million budget, but the HBO deal is worth at least another 85 million and MK even topped Godzilla vs Kong there.
There are 2 sequels in the works to be released within the MK12 timeframe and maybe more movies in the future. I was told of some of the plots written down by Greg Russo and his team of writers up to movie number 5, if they ever get done. But the first 2 sequels are a green light. There will also be animated films with the movies unjverse, to bridge gaps, but bot the same unhverse as the "MK Legends" animated films, which I know little about cause they are made by someone else.
I happen to know much about MK and I said some stuff about what I was told, nothing more, a while after MK11 was out.
It went like this:
- before anyone knew there will be 3 kombat packs planned, I said this and named the 18 characters that were planned at that stage. Out of those, obviously KP3 never came to be, but the other characters were released, with KP2 split into Aftermath and KP2. Of course, some of the characters had already been leaked, but that was not the reason why I named them. Mileena and Rambo were also named by me (well, Rambo later on, because he wasn't from the get go)
- i also posted the information I had about the MK movie in production, which was shooting all the way in Australia. Most of that plot was kept in the next 2 years of shooting, with some re-writes, but I had a discord in which I updated info and got even minor details to the people who were interested. People who were in that discord can confirm this. After the movie aired, the producer Todd Garner, who I will only speak highly of, tweeted that dvdgamescenter is in no way affiliated with the movies and that I don't know anything, but this is only because I use a funny name online and of course I wouldn't want to reveal my real identity. The fact that I knew at least the first movie proves that I do know a lot about the wrong, not necessarily from the producers.
- I posted in March 2020 that the deal for Ash Williams had fallen because of contract disputes and I was very insulted because I had brought the news. I am sorry for his fans, but I was not at fault, I merely tried speaking to the fans . Was also insulted for saying Cyrax and Sektor are not planned as downloadable content, even though I believe the dataminer the thiny had said he had found dialogue for at least Sektor.
I made it clear that ROB meant Robocop, that trhere will be a kombat league banner of Hotaru and Darrius and that Rambo had replaced Ash Williams, also that there will be a story mode sequel
- in April of that year I ppsted the story mode as I was told about it- I asked about my fav char, Scorpion, and was told that he gets beaten or killed in the story mode and that the story revolves around Shang Tsung and Liu Kang and it ends with choosing the side of one of them, with a dluble ending.
- only after this was the trailer with Shang Tsung, Fujin and Nightwolf shown and still a week before the release I actually got to post a detailed description of everything that hapoened in the story mode, when I saw it myself. This part of Aftermath was actually just the 1st half of a bigger 2 chapter expansion and it would have picked up right where it left off
- in May that year I said that after Fujin, Sheeva and Robocop there will be other characters announced in June: Rambo, Havik and Daegon. Not only was I expelled from everywhere because "there is no way it will be 3 characters, because there are 8 slots left and there will be 2 packs of 4 characters", but Rambo was actually released. In truth, I was wrong, I know this, but not because of wrong info, but because the pandemic pushed it back a little. A character takes 3 months to be finished (I can link you to where Ed Boon says this) so Rambo was supposed to be released when I said, but they were pushed back to September announcement and the decision was made to bring forth Mileena and Rain from KP3. The other characters were all tied together in the story and it would have been worse to release them without a story expansion. I updated my ppst to "Rambo, Mileena and Rain" either in July or August, long before any datamines.
- I told people how Rain plays, how Mileena looks and the implied relationship between her and Tanya, which was evident in the dialogue with Kano and in her ending.
- in January 2021 the story was shelved (maybe to embe in MK12) and I posted that NRS is still trying to give fans something and there are some meetings that devide on characters that are easier to make, such as Cyrax, Sektor, Kronika and also 3 guests (Braddock, Snake Plissken etc). I then heard that Cyrax and Sektor had been cancelled but there was still work on Havik, Hotaru, Sareena and Reiko, as well as guests and I heard about Shujinko (though not sure if that was a joke). In May of June, before E3, I told the people in the discord I am in that unfortunately KP3 has been cancelled for good and a short while later the announcement from NRS appeared.
I keep people updated there on what happens with the movies. There is a big actor wanted for Shao Kahn, Chris Hemsworth is from Australia and might be in negotiations, if not then another big name (Dwayne Johnson, Bautista). Casper van Dien is the low cost option for Johnny Cage unless actors like Scott Adkins take the role.
