Immortal

Blind justice....
I sometimes forget people on this site are supposed to LIKE mortal kombat.. sure doesn't seem that way sometimes,

Maybe this will refresh your love.

Just look at those people ENJOYING mortal kombat... do you guys even remeber what that was like?
If you like or love something like many people here love Mortal Kombat the dissapointment is even bigger when anything related to that isn't even decent (for most people here that's the case with this MK movie). Loving or liking something doesn't mean you shoud just be happy that you got something, anything. It should or even need to be good on it's own. This movie is what it is but for sure isn't good (for most of us here), even if you wear 500$ Johnny Cage glasses while watching it and this is what makes it sad for most people here. Its been over 25 years since the first movie and we all expected it to be at least on par but in our hearts we wanted it to be better, sadly that didn't happen and for people who love MK for almost 30 years now (like me) it's sad or even hearth breaking.

You can like it, nothing wrong with that but don't "force" others to like it coz... we're on MK forums. We're all entitled to our opinion, same as you.

Oh, my days !
We live in the internet times where all people have the means to express their opinion.

But this also means that some people tend to have more opportunities to push their opinion over others'.

With this film, I don't get how those (fewer) people who didn't enjoy the film (or game), seem to have a STRONGER urge to boost their opinion over those that enjoyed it. In an MK forum nevertheless.

I myself can understand what aspects of the film were lacking quality. Even as a fanboy, I truly can see it...

But you cannot say that the production lacked effort, passion for the lore and more importantly, studying and respect for the characters. Except for Nitara and Reiko!! :) They clearly were jobbers that didn't leave their mark. But that's totally ok.

I love the film, even though I know it could have been done a little bit better. I waited so many years and I got sth much better than average, sth that can possibly be a start for a series of sequels.

That whole deal with Raiden being able to teleport anybody anywhere is going to lead to massive plotholes lol
I'm surprised it doesn't in the games already. It used to be that to teleport in between realms you needed to travel via Portals.

For example Raiden and Scorpion will just teleport anywhere from Earthrealm to Netherrealm and back again in MK11/MK9

As far as I remember NRS Raiden can only teleport people near him. Movie Raiden moved people around like chess pieces.

When Kabal died, did anyone else think he said "Fatality" during his own death?
I was laughing my ass off till I realized it was Liu
His death was so lackluster to me man. Idk if it’s because it was Liu Fatal Blow that killed him or the fact that Kabal (who is burnt) died from being burned but it was so ass lol

Liu should've just shot a fireball through him or something. The dragon looked okay in the trailer, but actually seeing the full scene it was near Annihilation bad.

I did love the "What the fuck? Oh shit" tho lmao

It was so lame. Took me right out of the movie when characters could just conveniently be wherever they needed to be for the plot to make sense. Truly embarrassing.

Ok, so a thing I didn't get and this is a praise to movie and a complaint about the trailer (ain't that a surprise?)...

The "it's a birthmark" rapport.

In the movie, it works COMPLETELY and makes total sense because his daughter's lines are flipped.

"One more thing champ, that dragon logo you got, I dig that man. It's unique. Where'd you get it from?" (Jax pretending to be ignorant because he believes he knows exactly what the symbols mean and how they're usually passed on).
"He was born with it."
"What do you mean?"
(Jax is not an idiot, he knows what a birthmark is, he's confused because people aren't born with that symbol to the best of the SF's research)
"It's a birthmark." (Spoken with total teen sarcasm because she thinks Jax is an idiot, but she also doesn't know what he knows of the symbols)

I know they couldn't exactly project full character-based context to it in the trailer, but WHY did they swap the lines "he was born with it" and "it's a birthmark" around for the trailer so it makes the dialogue look like someone with learning difficulties wrote it. I know even in the finished film it's hardly Shakespearean, but the above exchange actually makes logical sense, the trailer makes Jax look like an imbecile and I can't understand why they'd try and sell a movie with such an awkward flip of the dialogue?

I liked it, yeah it was corny at some points and I could really do without Cole’s character but yeah it’s a video game movie for what we got I’m happy. I loved the Easter eggs like kotal Kahn and I hope the sequel improves what they built

Oh, my days !
I genuinely feel that way when the dragon drops down and bites him. It looks horrible
Τhat dragon scene, jax's lost arms, scorpion's and kung lao's fatality are without a doubt highlights of the film. The effects were great. Especially goro's and reptile's which were my biggest concerns. I don't know, I honestly don't know what flaw did your eye catch during the flaming dragon thingy.

My only problem with effects was those weird looking jumps etc like mileenas when she lands on sonya, sonya's drop when kano threw her at those wooden sticks before dropping the statue on her, kung lao's landing when he saves kang and another one or two similar animations.

So much potential wasted!
5/10
They rushed it way too much. Scorpion and Sub Zero saved this movie

Great casting bad editing I wish this could’ve been a series instead and to give more time for character development. Those were great character with the right person for the role and all wasted. And wtf Cole? Even tho the next movie would be the actual MK tournament but the story is already messed up with Goro dead.
Anyway I enjoyed it but not more than a 5

I'm not convinced movie Sonya is actually special forces. Based on the movie, I believe she's a maniac who attacks anyone who wanders onto her property.

She has Kano shackled, but what for? She seems totally fine with him leaving, and is even ok with him tagging along. So, either he didn't do anything too bad and she shackled him anyway, or he did some heinous act that warranted the shackling, and she was just like "fuck it". I imagine he got drunk and wandered onto her property and like all those other drifters, she assaulted him and locked him up in her torture barn.

And then he tried to kill the person who (in his mind) he was about to make 3 million dollars from because.. It would prove he was a tough guy

When? In the desert? He was just fucking with her. Wanted to prove she wasn't worthy of a marking. If you're talking about later on in her trailer that was after he made the deal with Kabal.

Its a shame they didn't have Sonya kill Kano by breaking his neck like in the OG.

Honestly I adore this version of Sonya. She's infinitely more interesting than Ultra Serious Military Mom.

So glad I didn't watch that trailer. Classic case of the trailer people "making a sick trailer" at the expense of the movie. Frankenstein lines together to make trailer only "dialogue" and show every cool scene and impact moment, audience experience be damned

What a day. What a lovely day.
Fights that didn’t include Sub or Scorpion ended entirely too fast. Lots of pulled in shots of punches for everyone that wasn’t them.

Sub was cool. The Reptile fight was cool. Some nice special effects. I didn’t really mind the story changes. Cole was a bit Mary Sue’d.

Mileena, Kabal, and Nitara were tragically underutilized.

6/10. It had its moments.

That's to much logic for the writers of this god awful script. They probably thought about it in their minds, asked themself how to deal with this? Maybe make it like it actually made sense - add a backstory, some previous encounter? But after 5 seconds of thinking about they went with plan B which is "Nah, it will be fine".

That being said i like Jessica casted as Sonya. Just her lines were awful and her final fight with Kano was done very poorly but neither of those is her fault. I hope she comeback for a (better) sequel.

I mean, she won the fight and then he told her to go on and take the mark, and waited for it.. Which is only possible by killing him.

From everything we know, I think it's pretty safe to assume that he'd have put the knife in her if it was the other way around

Similarly, Kung Lao tried to take Cole's neck out with the hat when they were 'training' (and eventually did slice his arm open).. I mean, there were just a few strange homicidal decisions on everybody's part.
