Need more of a heads up! Being married bars me from making late trip decisions more often then not, would totally make the trip to Richmond for this though.

I SEE EVERYTHING!
For those that didn't notice, the system for the tourney will be XBox 360. Renegade has 2 PS1/PS2 to 360 XTokki converters though. I have two XConverter360 PS1/PS2 to 360 converters, but for these converters you need wired XBox360 controllers to make them work.

3 weeks notice isn't too bad. I'm sure I created the FB page and shared it in MAK a week prior to that as well.

I'll be happy to see you guys make it out!

I hear the Xbox version doesn't slow down as much on certain stages too.

Would go but with the game on 360 I'm going to have to pass.

The ps3 slows down while an Xray is happening, not affecting game play. The 360 has been known to have random spikes of lag, actually affecting the live game play.

Also, the most common pad to play on is ps3, so running it on 360 makes a lot of problems for the large majority of players. For instance, I can't attend now but would have if it was on ps3.

Since when has this happened? All I've heard is that ps3 slows down on xrays and has slight lag in general play, while Xbox has none of this. I've never noticed any problems on Xbox.

That's what everyone tells me... thought it was official. Some rounds on the Xbox version cause random frame rate drops like Hell, the desert, the sub way, ect.

I've spent over 6 months playing MK on xbox and i haven't noticed or heard this once. Ps3 always felt like it had slight lag to me, and many people I've talked to feel the same way.

I agree. I almost want to get a cheap ps3 to play mk on just because when I go to tournaments I feel like there is a tiny bit of lag making it almost feel stiff.

Cookout/Subway/Hardees/BK/McD's/Stuffys/Wendys/ChikFilA/Chanello's/Arbys are the fast food places within a mile.

As far as more selective fare, Buzz & Ned's BBQ (won a Throwdown w/ Bobby Flay) is right there, as well as our "Bar Crawl" street of Robinson St in the fan neighborhood.

I'll probably print out a sheet and give to everyone come tourney day.

Been playing XBL lately and its great. Way better connection than PSN. I got a 360 adapter as well so if any of you guys have PS2 controllers you can use my adapter.

Man, no offense but you pad players sure are spoiled. It's either "play it on my system or I don't go"

I'd say about 80% of stick users either
A) have two sticks (a 300$ investment)
B) got it dual modded (230$ investment)

They don't complain about what system it's on at all.

Pad players can: (remember you got a controller w/ system)
A) buy a new pad (50$ investment)
B) mod a PS3 sixaxis (not sure about price, but not more than 80$)
C) Buy one of the Madcatz/Hori Pads that can be setup PS3 style (100$)
D) buy a Dualshock2 and Etokki converter (23$ for converter and 5$ for DS2)
E) buy one of those other converters and also lug around wired xbox controller (50$)

I don't really think i'm inflicting much hardship here. I'm also buying two Etokki converters to let players borrow at the tournament.

There's also almost no way to convert Xbox 360 pads to PS3 aside from buying a Madcatz pad now for those players that like Xbox pads.

but the bottom line is this:

In order to run a quality/effecient tournament: I need to own/control all the setups. This is in order to properly allocate them, make sure they have all the required content, and so that they stay the entire tournament.

PS3 setups cost TWO times as much as my style of xbox setups. This is b/c Ps3's can't naturally play on VGA CRT monitors and the fact that they cost more to begin with. When we're talking about 10-20 setups, the cost difference is in the four figure range.

Not to mention PS3 versions of games are often inferior. Lastly, Sixaxis and DS3 pads would have to be BANNED anyway, because of the stupid wireless synching issues, requiring you to buy separate pads ANYWAY.

I don't mean to single you out or whatever, I'd hate to lose you as a potential tourney goer over something that (to me at least) is easily remedied.

I just really need to make clear that a lot of thought was put into this, and this is why I chose this format. UFGT7 is also all xbox360 as well.

Also, Civil War 4 is the only Mortal Kombat EVO major in the MD/VA/NC area, and will also be run on Xbox.

Feel free to PM me with any other concerns.

I should make this, no problems.

FYI, I play on a Mad Catz xbox pad (the ones released for SF4) , Amazon.com has a cheap cheap converter that will allow your xbox controller/pad to work on a ps3.

However, with the release of SFxTekken, they are releasing the same pad for the Ps3, and this go around it will be wired....so....

$80 and you can have pretty much the same controller for both systems. This proves that there is in fact, a god

I got one of these, I thought I liked it, but now I hate it, I just love the feel of my xbox controller with evil dpad. I wish you could dual mod a pad...oh and the madcatz broke my mic as soon as I plugged it in wtf.

I use a xbox controller at every tourney I go to and I use this adapter with no problems, except if two people on the same system are both using the adapter only the first person that plugs it in works.

Good to know. Thanks! Good to see people being proactive about being dual system capable.

You can dual mod pads, it's just really tricky. gummo has been able to dual mod sixaxis's, but it removes thumbstick support.

If I could get a dual modded xbox controller and not have to use an adapter anymore I would be the happiest person in the world.

Don't mean to derail the thread...

Renegade any chance you've been to Pierce's PITT bbq in Williamsburg? Is buz's anything like that? Pierce's is hands down the best I've ever had and might have to drive the extra 50 minutes for it...
