TYM Killer Instinct Bi-Weekly Casuals

Hey all,

We've been talking for a while now about playing some Killer Instinct since several of you have recently got the game, but it never seems to happen. I'm looking to change this, and I'd like to host bi-weekly casuals so long as there's interest. All skill levels welcome.

I was going to set up via Lobby Mode, which functions pretty similarly to Mortal Kombat's King of the Hill.

Date and time: Sun. Jun. 14th at 3:00 pm Eastern

The best way to do this I figure would be for me to host and invite you to the Lobby, so if you're interested and not already on my Xbox LIVE Friend's List, please shoot me a Follow; my Gamertag is Juxtapose13.

I was thinking we play for about two hours, though if people want to go longer, by all means. If a Sunday rolls around and I can't make it, someone else would need to step up and host.

Note I play on PC myself, and I do not have a mic. I'll also record the event.

While I'm not against being a warm body for something like this, I don't know that there is any good way to involve me when invites are needed. I have it on Steam which has its own invite system, and as it stands there isn't a way to get the Windows store version working for me.

From in-game, are you able to add friends via LIVE? Steam is crossplay with the Windows 10/Xbox One versions of the game outside of Ranked.

Steam and Windows invite stuff is totally separate. They don't have any awareness of user identities across the systems. I've only played people that have the Windows version and basically invites are off the table, and you have to meet somewhere or luck into finding them in Exhibition searches. Searching is generally preferable due to Exhibition being a vastly superior 1v1 experience once you find eachother.

Lobbies worked fine, but have issues, and inviting isn't a thing

I'm always down to play i just wasn't seeing any invites from anyone except @B W1zZ ... I don't think anyone has invited me to play anything except him in the last 3 months

I'm hoping to take another crack at learning KI (or just playing fighting games more with online people from TYM in general) but for now I'm a little busy raising a 3 month old. I'm hoping in a few months I can find a consistent time to game, but until then my ability to play is extremely limited. If you stream these though I'll do my best to follow and support, thanks for trying to put this together.

My GT is Marlow0822 in case anyone is interested.

During any sessions we have, you're more than welcome to drop in and out. I do expect these to be Casuals and not super competitive. Absolutely understand with the newborn though, so no worries!

I won't be streaming, but I do plan to record and upload to YouTube. I'll be posting the vids in this thread for people to watch if they wish.

@Gooberking This is the reply I got on the official forums "The best way to do this is to set up the lobby with specific parameters and give those parameters to your Steam friend to search on. It makes the probability of him finding you through search very high."

So we can give that a try and see what happens. Using Xbox Game Bar, I still recommend Following me over Xbox LIVE. I plan to create a Party for this and regardless of you being on the Steam version, you'll still be able to access and use the Party Chat. Might be able to help us with troubleshooting if need be.

We can test out whatever you need. Originally I did meet up in a lobby with someone, so I would think it would work fine as long as the thing is open.

It doesn't look like I can use the chat stuff though. The same account issues that prevent me from using the Windows Store games looks like it may also prevent me from signing in properly to the XBox Live stuff. I'm getting "try again later" errors and looking for your gamer tag doesn't find anything.

After all this account stuff, I'm feeling pretty glad I bought giant Flash drives and downloaded my Xbox 360 games locally because I'm not sure if I would be able to now. (Not that I'm likely to play my 360 much in the future)

I get wanting the back ups of those games though, even if you never play them again.

@Gooberking The Lobby I set up will be as follows:

Lobby Size: 6
Private Lobby: Off
Min Rank: Qualifiers
Max Rank: Killer
Min Performance: Fail
Allow Crossplay: Yes
Lobby Name: Social Room
Allow Cross-Network: Yes

That should be generic enough to make your search easier, I hope.

Keits said recently that he was deliberately prevented from being high tier. I think you can still train wreck an opponent though.

Only name I know of that really was putting in the work was CStyles. He made a pretty good run at getting through the LCQ at the first KI world cup iirc.

He played on stream a couple times for that event and used to have a Twitch channel, so some sort of footage should be out there to have a look at. The game changed quite a bit after that though, so I don't know how valid it would be compared the final version

Nicky and Bass have been streaming every day and would probably be willing toss out an opinion if asked in their respective channels.

A reminder that I don't have a mic, and oddly, I can't seem to hear voice from others either. For me at least, it'll be text chat only.
