I WILL EAT THIS GAME
Three cheers for the return of Ratchet and Clank. Not surprised to see them going full Enter The Spiderverse with Femme Ratchet and most likely a whole bunch more. Hope there's a Deadlocked location in there somewhere like the endgame Ghost Ship.

I just want to know if we're going to get Dead Space 4. I know it's almost definitely not happening, but a guy can dream.

Some cool games so far. Spiderman, rachet and clank, that zelda-ish Kena one.

With that said, I'm fully sh*tting all over Bugsnax. Was that made by and for five year olds?

Bugsnax is like something a deathrow inmate would make if prisons had game deevelopment workshops.

I'm interested. The only thing I'd really want out of this gen is for 60fps to be taken seriously as a base framerate for once, but it will still probably just get prettier 30fps stuff.

The design looks a little like something that seems cool today, but will end up looking weird in the long run - like the 70's (Says a 70's baby)

Wow, that was...underwhelming. Looks like the next generation of console games will be really pretty setpieces with the same mechanics we've been playing for over two decades.

It's kinda weird.. Like, I've always been a big fan of both console and PC gaming. But if you look at the core of superpopular PC games (and I'm gonna list a couple games that have been released for console also, but are clearly made with a PC mindset), there's a lot more innovation.

Overwatch, Fortnite, Day Z, Minecraft, League, CS:GO, Hearthstone, etc... All of these are mega-popular (well, DayZ have given way to some other titles now, but the concept lives on), and almost all of them are in genres that didn't really exist for AAA games beforehand. They are also all very different in concept. A lot of them started with indie-type mindsets or took their inspiration from smaller games. And most of them are so much fun to play that they don't need to release a new version every couple years. Almost none of them are true franchises (even CS:GO doesn't really qualify).

On console it's like.. We get the modern version of Tomb Raider, the modern version of Devil May Cry, the modern version of Crash Bandicoot, another Resident Evil and a new Mario game. Saints Row 8. Hitman 1000. Another Street Fighter.

There are a couple of devs who break the mold on console (like with Arkham and The Last of Us), and then we go right back to the next generation with a whole ton of copycat titles with new coats of paint again.

I know I will still enjoy some of the games from this upcoming gen, but it makes me think.

What do you guys think about the leaked console price at $599 and games allegedly going up to $69?
I think $600 for a console is insane. I can spend a fraction of that on a new graphics card and have a much better experience on PC, and access to 90% of the worthwhile games that will be coming out. I can also continue to upgrade my PC over the next 4 years while PS5 owners will be stuck with their 2020 machine. I'm legit surprised console gaming is even still a thing with how quickly new technology becomes obsolete.
