This is the problem with the internet... in the old days if there was a mentally deficient misanthrope looser in your village they would be a loner wack job wearing a tinfoil hat and sitting at the bar being a joke.. now all those crazies can band together and support each other and all the rest of the world is facing the shocking reality that 90% of the entire earth are complete morons. The internet revealed the terrible truth. I want to take the fucking blue pill.

That depends. Does Sweden have a functioning government? If so, it's no comparison...

For a more real answer, I think the difference in population density would be the crucial factor. I imagine Sweden is much less dense than NYC. NYC also has a shit load of people violating stay-at-home and social-distancing orders. Not sure what the situation is like in Sweden.
I dont think anyone has brought it up here. Do you think Andrew Cuomos nursing home policies may have contributed significantly to the amount of deaths in NY?

I'm not familiar with his nursing home policies.

I mentioned a few days ago I was feeling a little off, and that's continued. Symptoms keep coming and going and are minor. No cough, fever, or breathing issues thankfully, but mild headaches, mild nasal pressure, nausea, etc. Last night I developed mild tightness in my upper chest, and that was still present this morning, so I took the Province's online self assessment test and called TeleHealth Ontario as a result.

The nurse directed me to the ER, who immediately sent me to a COVID-19 testing facility. I've now done the test and am awaiting the results, which I should get in one to three business days.

The chest tightness has mostly faded, replaced by a mild headache.

I have a compromised immune system, so if this is COVID-19, you'd think it would hit me harder and that the symptoms would remain instead of coming and going for over four days. However, it's better safe than sorry and I go for my Crohn's Disease treatment later this week which, by design, represses my immune system. If this is the virus, that treatment would be a very, very bad idea right now. If it's not, then I need that treatment to keep my digestive health in order, thus the primary reason I went for testing. And for the piece of mind. And to make sure I'm not going to give anyone else the virus.

So we'll see. I personally do think I'm dealing with a head cold or allergies or sorts, along with IBS and stress, but again, better to be sure.

Let us know when you get the results. Just now, I have a high temperature... once again. It’s 99.4 right now, much higher than my normal temperature. Smh, I hate the world right now.

100,000. This is not over.
Stay home. Sheeva gang rise up.
Far from over. I will continue to take all the proper precautions. Washing hands, hand sanitizer, mask and gloves, and keeping my distance. My friends keep having parties, and one of them is an RN. I don’t understand why they’re acting like this is “over”. It’s frustrating. But, luckily in my area, a lot of people are still wearing masks in public and social distancing. There’s definitely a lot of people who aren’t though, usually seem to be younger people.

Smh. The ignorance surrounding this is insane to me. Even if you aren’t at a high risk, as in immunocompromised, you still will most likely be super sick. The anecdotal stories I’ve heard from healthy people who have gotten it sounds so miserable. And the fact that you can be in perfect health but from this disease you can get irreparable damage to your lungs and/or other long term negative effects.

The only way I can see people not taking this seriously is straight up ignorance.

I feel sports, military, and jobs that require good cardo are gonna suffer down the line cause a lot of people will have respiratory problems down the line.

Thanks man, I will. I'm not doing too bad today, and as I mentioned, stuff is minor, so I really do think head cold. We'll see. You were also spot on about your description of the test, and how it's very uncomfortable when it happens, and for a while afterwards but that it fades.

For yourself, if your temp doesn't improve soon, might be a good idea to go and get tested again. 37.1'C (98.78'F) is the highest my temp has gotten thus far, and that was briefly. Sitting at 36.1'C (96.98'F) as of this morn.

The worst part about this is that its allergy season right now and sinus infections can give you flu like symptoms and a heavy fever.

Here is one example of why reopening now is the dumbest possible move:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/comments/gov2mf
When states reopen and force these low-wage workers to go back to work, we end up with situations like this. No one knows the full story, of course, but I imagine the stylist was taken off unemployment the moment they were legally able to go back to work. At that point, it's a choice of going to work while sick or not being able to afford basic necessities. Regardless of whether it's the stylist or the employer to blame, that's 84 people now potentially spreading the virus.

"The first stylist at a salon franchise in Springfield served 84 clients and exposed seven coworkers, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department said Friday. The hairstylist also visited a Dairy Queen, Walmart and fitness center, officials said."

Let's say that each of those 84 people interacted with just 10 other people before they were made aware of the situation (a laughably conservative estimate). That's now 840 people potentially spreading the virus. Go one step further and we're looking at 8,400 people. That's assuming none of them used public transportation or went to a restaurant or any other public space where they would have compromised way more than just 10 other people.

And to make it even more frustrating, Great Clips is almost 100% franchise-based, and this location was a franchise, meaning they qualified for the small business assistance available to businesses with fewer than 500 employees. The business would have been fine remaining closed and the employees would have been fine remaining on unemployment and receiving stimulus payouts.

This also isn't an isolated incident. Another Great Clips stylist did the same thing a few days ago and potentially infected 56 clients.

Because people have made it political.
