I don't know what Trump is thinking. It becomes painfully obvious that even when he has one of the nation's top advisers standing next to him, he can't understand even simple concepts like "contagious viruses spread exponentially" and "ending measures early = deaths".

It's easy. It's an election year, and the number one thing he and all his supporters always point to as a gauge of his success is "his" economy. Right now saving the economy is more important to him than anything else. He knows that if he loses that, his reelection is seriously jeopardized.

But people need to live too.. Which requires everyone staying put long enough to the epidemic to be over before we put the conditions back into place that spread the virus.

Otherwise we'll be doing this whole thing again, and I'd rather not.

Interesting. I suppose those who make $75k+ should have more in savings or something? That’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense for why it starts phasing out at $75k and completely phases out at $110k or whatever it is.

Trump and co said they support whatever the individual states decide. But it seems he may walk that back soon... unfortunately. I said “seems”, btw. As in based on how he is talking and the direction what he is saying is going.

Yeah people need to work, but you can’t work when you’re deathly sick or worse, dead. The fact that he and others are even considering “reopening” really anything is incredibly alarming. COVID-19 is nowhere near under control, in fact, most states don’t even have stay-at-home orders. All GA has, for instance, is a “no gatherings of 10+ groups” order. Which literally was just announced LAST NIGHT.

America was finally starting to take this shit seriously and was handling it decently well for a few days. I had a small amount of hope we could all work together. That everyone, no matter your religion, race, gender, political views, ideals, class, etc... were going to actually drop the BS and all the contempt we all seem have for one another, and beat this thing together. Or at the very least flatten the curve and drastically reduce the spreading. I was naive, that much is clear to me now.

Yes.
The good thing is that we acted early. (Actually very responsive for greek standards).
On the other hand there was a game of responsibilities between the gvt and church. Long story short, 15 days ago the church was all like "no problemo, go to churches and share the spoon of wine, you can't get infected " So the government gave them enough time, instead of instantly shutting them down like every other crowed event, musichalls, theatre and such.
Our numbers are low, while our neighbors in Italy suffer so much...

I work in theatre and gigs, so my income is frozen and I'm afraid the entertainment business will be on ice at least until mid summer. But tbh i care more for everyone to be as safe as possible.

They delayed the reopening of schools and universities by another 2 weeks, meaning a total of 1 month of them closed. Starting from next week my uni will be streaming its lectures. They also just implemented a curfew from 7pm till the morning today, with serious fines if you're caught outside.
Lol why is my bumfuck poor 3rd world country handling this better than developed nations? To be fair there are still a lot of poor people who are forced to go outside daily anyways to earn.. but still, this is good for the people who can afford to stay their asses at home I guess?

At work some ppl where not caring at all about social distancing. The only protection we have is a bottle of handsanitizer at the door and all doors open. I work at a store that delivers food to hospitals and malls etc.
They could atleast make us wear plastic gloves since we all make contact to the products with our hands. Just a fucking incompetent pos company.

I would buy my own gloves but since not a single store online has them in stock or mall except the one i work at cause we sell those, its a bit of a problem.
Same for masks.
Didnt go back second day cause i dont wanna risk my life because others didnt care much.

My point is that when you work at a company that sells things that you can use when there is a global pandemic outbreak but doest provide any of those things to their workers except hand sanitizers, thats a major fuck up, especially when you work in foodbussiness thats provides food for groceries hospitals etc. And when some of your coworkers dont respect social distancing at all that sucks too.

yeah.. but my point is just as your company is fucked.. doesn't mean you should be. Go buy some gloves and use them. Don't just say.. well they didn't give me gloves.. so stuff it and then complain constantly how you are not using gloves. At some point your just as guilty for not doing something so simple as buying them yourself. It is up to individuals to do what they can and be good people, in any time, but especially in times like these. When all is said and done it is your responsibility to be a good person.
