That's one thing I find interesting about the characters in the franchise. There's several examples of characters in Story Mode who are very cool, evolving characters, yet their Multiplayer versions are completely different.

Cassie is an excellent example. In Story Mode, she was uncertain, lacked confidence, and trying to get her folk's approval for the most part in the last game. In this game, she's a responsible leader, has found her overall confidence, and loves her family. She's still young, but responsible.

Multiplayer her spits on the character's development.
