I'm all for running mk on xbox, it plays so much better it's a shame so many tournaments use ps3 for mk.

 

[16 Bit]

Running on Xbox is good. No more worrying about old PS3's that get laggy during Kitana combos.

The only downside is the loss of epic slow mo Liu bike kick.

When should l show up ? Should we bring anything (controllers, stick, etc.)? Does it matter that my friends and I don't have any competitive experience?

People bring any combination of monitors, consoles, and controllers. At the least bring whatever controller you play with.

Starts usually around 6, and more show up as the night goes on and they get out of work etc. I usually get there at 7 or so but most people are there before me.

The main goal of these sessions is to get better (what I meant by competitively minded). Anyone is welcome of course, and its a friendly atmosphere that I'm sure you'll have fun if you like mk or fighting games in general.
