Have any of you had difficulty finding a main in this game compared to MK9/X?

Nah not really. I think Skarlet is so cool in this game, but I’m playing her just because I think she’s sick. There really isn’t a character in the game yet that I can say this is my type of character.

Yeah, was problematic, none of my mains from MK9/MKX made it into the game. I was playing mainly Reptile and Sindel in MK9, later Kenshi, then Goro and Kenshi in MKX. So didn't know where to start, but after going through all the characters classic towers, i quickly settled down on Jade, which just felt right to me. Still having a hard time to find a second char I enjoy as much, tried Sub Zero, but not really fun to play, maybe Scarlet or Cassie...

A lot of the, for lack of a better word, gimmicky moves that I enjoy aren't in this game (or at least not tournament variations). I like characters who have somewhat unique ways of winning/setting things up. Sub clone, Quan rune traps, etc.

Geras is currently the closest that I also enjoy, but even then isn't really what I'm looking for. Thankfully I think i can fall back on shang cuz ground fireballs are cool

I always main Kitana, Skarlet was very satisfying to use since the first day, and I tried out Erron, and I really like his moveset! I also enjoy Sonya a lot lol

The only one of my mains from either 9 or XL that made it to MK11 is Sub-Zero, and I have found no chemistry with him in this game.

Searing Scorpion isn't as good as Reborn.
Kabal isn't as good as I wish he was.

I am a man without an island, waiting for the DLC to answer my prayers like they did with Tremor and Leatherface.
I fucking hope the answer is Nightwolf.

I wanted to main Sub but cant stand what they turned him into. He's very vanilla with braindead gimmicks and he isnt the fun cryomancer he used to be.

D'Vorah was always my go too but her playstyle got messed with a bunch and the buttony, cancel focused execution is gone.

Feels like I'm playing strangers, not my mains.

I've been using Jade and Jacqui and having a lot of fun. Doing a little dabbling with Kitana. It sucks to not have Mileena or Tanya, but I'm managing.

Soon the queen will be back at last, and I'll be putting all my energy into her.

I played Kabal and Skarlet in the BETA, and i'm still maining them to this day. I learned Sub Zero because i like him a lot more in this than i did in MkX and 9, even though he doesn't have the Ice Clone. I tried Noob, Liu, Kung Lao, Frost, Kitana and Jade but didn't vibe with them as much.

I can't say i had trouble finding a main tbh, Skarlet's redesign to a genuine character just grabbed me immediately since i love zoning. Then Kabal being less busted than before but still execution / combo heavy was a perfect complement to co-main with.

I usually have two that I like to play but I don't really one-trick a character, especially in this game. The variations atm don't allow you to stick with one character for a MU...I think MKX did it better IMO. Plus, I like to explore all characters that look interesting

IMO part this is that some core characters that I feel should be in every MK like Reptile, Smoke, Ermac, that have been around since the playstation days (or in reptile's case the SNES/Sega days) are just not here. I used to use smoke almost exclusively in MK Trilogy.
I mean, Reptile's been around since freakin MK2, and meanwhile they make newcomers like Cassie Geras and Jaqui these world beating bad asses?
I main noob but truthfully I'm still searching for a main. Trying to learn 2 new characters per 2 weeks until I can determine from available players who to focus on.

nope, not at all ... I love majority of MK franchise characters, and despise my favourite been out (Mileena), the MK11 roster is very rich and interesting to explore, so, no difficulties to find characters to use

Yah, I'm still having a tough time picking a main. Played mostly Kano and Scorpion so far, but have messed around with Jade, Shao, Sub, Sonya, and several others. I feel like a lot of the characters are less dynamic and less flavorfull than in MKX. Not sure why I feel that way, possibly because some of the characters are very tame in comparison to MKX, but maybe I just need to play through the story mode to get a better sense for the characters and their personalities.

I had this issue.
Started with Kotal because he was my favorite mkx character. He is total shit in this game so i moved on.

Went to Baraka. Hes very good, but i got bored.

Went to Noob. Good character, but has issues with opponents who can punish his b1 string. Just not really my ideal style.

Tried Kollector because he is badass looking. Fun to use, but i lost one too many matches to his whiffing issues on f12 and 44

Used Kung Lao. Good character, and i considered him my main for like...a week. I use him as a secondary now.

Went to Jax, who was my main in MKX. I wasnt the biggest fan of his new look or new voice so i avoided him at first. I enjoy the way he plays and have adopted him as my main

I'll probably end up maining a DLC character. In the meantime, I'm learning matchups from the other side, I guess.
Right now, I'm on Lao. He's fine. I have Raiden, Johnny and Liu in decent shape.
I prefer neutral heavy footsie characters that are comfortable up close.

In injustice 2 I mained green arrow and redhood with some robin and nobody plays anything like those characters.
In mkx kenshi and johnny were my mains but also played a ton of sub, liu, takeda, cassie, and jax while the mk11 counterparts are so boring and vanilla.

Hopefully spawn, nightwolf, shang or ash can add some much needed spice into this game

I am absolutely having trouble finding a main. I've literally only played Shao Kahn online, and though I do love the character, there's just a lot missing.

This also happened to me in Injustice 2. I never found my character.

This was never the case in MK9, MKX or Injustice 1. In MK9, there were so many characters I loved playing. I mained Ermac and Jax and loved every minute.

In Injustice 1, even though he was ass, Ares was (and still is) the most fun Injustice character to date. Lobo was also super fun to play.

In MKX, Kotal was an instant fit for me. Absolutely LOVED the character. Now? Haha....I don't know what the fuck they were thinking with him. Ermac was also so fun in MKX. Between Mystic and Spectral, I had everything I needed.

I'm really hoping I click with one of the DLC characters. I find myself looking at the select screen for the main roster and just being like "eh....I don't really want to play any of these characters" and I end up going to gamble money away at the shrine or send my AI Shao Kahn to work in the Towers.

Every Kombat Kast when I hear 16 Bit say "They're not really a combo character", I instantly lose interest.

I have hope that someone in the DLC will fill my character void. Shang Tsung looks awesome, but so did everyone else when they first showed them off. I have high hopes for Nightwolf and Fujin.

me after getting the game: dangit. I now can't pick between baraka, scorpion, shao khan, jade and skarlet. kitana too once her highborn variation is fixed.
