I have no idea how this doesn't exist yet so let's start one!

Baraka is looking like a very basic and honest fighter, but in a good way. Frame data is excellent and his custom abilities seem like very meaningful choices that change his playstyle drastically. I see his best abilities being his abilities that take 2 slots. His low special is a restand so I can see it being potentially nasty. I might have to rethink who I want to play since he's looking pretty good!

Ya, this is a good idea, I'm loving Baraka's Marauder variation. Simple yet solid. Does anyone agree that he's the easiest character to learn in the game? If not, who do you think is?

Really wish 2nd hit of f21 didn't push back opponent so far on hit, if you not proper touching your opponent the gutted with will whiff, like even after stuff that even leaves opponent in your face will still whiff eg blocked shadow kick

can f4 not solve this situation?

Of course that won't allow you to pull off a gutted KB... but you still get a proper punish.

I think you can only combo meterless off of a spike burst in the corner. Jump in kick too if you really wanna count that. Doesn't seem to be an issue though since he doesn't need to rely on combos.

I think I might have unlocked a new Baraka brutality (I haven't seen it anywhere online at least). Would this be the best place to put it at or is there a Brutality/new unlock discussion thread that I haven't seen or forgot about?

What about 112? That gives you the Krushing Blow. However, I don't remember the frame data for it.

What about 112? That gives you the Krushing Blow. However, I don't remember the frame data for it.

Is it cut up the chop brutality?
That one is fucking sweet, got it from the baraka chest in the krypt

Got a couple of questions:

1. Is there any meterless kombos for the Marauder variation besides really short ones like F21/B31/12 into Chop Chop or Gutted? All I've found are kombos that use MB Gutted.

2. How can I get better at correctly timing my F4 and Gutted at the end of certain kombos? Whenever I try to do the Gutted KB, sometimes I'll mess up the timing and my Gutted will miss or I'll end up doing F44 instead of F4 into Gutted.

122 can trigger a KB on a punish that will juggle, allowing you to follow up with a 112 + chop chop or gutted. Spine burst also seems to be a lot better than chop chop to create combos in the corner.

An KB on a uppercut will also lend a combo. D2 (KB) F4 BF4 (MB) F4 BF4 (KB) does quite a bit of damage.

Last but not least, F44 can also trigger a KB that combos in the corner. You punish with F44 (KB) DB3 and you've got your juggle, allowing you to do the bnb with gutted that also KB's.

Baraka relies on KB and MB gutted a lot for juggles because he isn't really focused on doing combos, still, a very interesting character to mess around with.

Regarding the timing in the F4 + gutted combo, I suggested you go to practice and try to do it calmly. When you perfect that, go up against the AI and then online. I guess this is all about practicing and learning the frames and timing of the characters. Doing combos against some opponents like Shao or Kotal might need even more training since their sizes and body models are different than other characters.

How do you guys feel about the lui kang match up i feel like lui can keep you out pretty good. any tips against lui kang or anyone else would be appreciated

For your F4 timing, a micro walk forward after the Meter Burned Gutted should do the trick. An alternative could also be to try and replace the first F4 by a micro walk forward and standing 4. If you also replace the second F4 BF4 by a Dash 4 BF4 you get an extra 19 dmg off the combo, not including ticks.

D2 (KB) F4 BF4 (MB) F4 BF4 (KB) : 480dmg + ticks
D2 (KB) 4 BF4 (MB) Dash 4 BF4 (KB) : 509dmg + ticks

I have more trouble with getting the last Gutted to connect than the F4. I haven't tried using 4 instead of F4, so that might work out better.

I'm guessing your Gutted whiffs because the F4 connects too early, which is why I suggested the micro walk or the alternative combo. Either way it all comes down to practice and muscle memory. Once you land it a few times and find the timing you'll never miss it again.

I'd like the variation more if they didn't pair blood lunge up with the literally worst possible special they could have chosen. In order to get any midscreen combo damage he really needs chopchop if he doesn't have gutted. Sure, he still has his KBs off of 122 and f44, but since your opponent never has a reason to break away they can just save their meter for your KBs.

The variation would be so much better off if they gave it leg kebab for the 50/50 mixups and hit advantage into blood lunge mixups. Or, even baraka barrage, since df1 also gives enough hit advantage for a lunge/f4 mixup. I'd even take one of the flag moves over spines, just because then I'd still have chopchop.
