Staggers sounds good on ranked. I played at NLBC and after a couple games my opponent os'ed me...poked me out because all staggers are negative or blocked the full string and their turn. Best results was trying to wiff punish with that slow ass b2 or space with b142 or fan for check. When the meta settles I wanna see y'all hyping staggers and "she's amazing" .

I am have issues landing anti airs. Before the patch I could easily AA from S1 fan, and have time for a followup. Now, nothing works, and S1 lift does not link, but in extremely select circumstances.
Is her D2 really the best AA she has? From the anti air master, to this. There is no risk jumping against her. I am thinking of Skarlet's S1 which actually leads realiably into F2 syphon, which is an actually a very strong AA and I am getting tilted a bit.

Also - for those who haven't discovered this yet, her royal protection move absorbs Jax's ground pound hehe

If you go for KB combo from B14 or B231 instead of doing J2 twice into ender do one J2 into 32 DF2. Scaling is better and it does slightly more damage.
B231 -> DB2 -> J2 -> 32 -> DF2 (KB) 348,45
I'm not able to connect the 32 mid-screen. Works fine in the corner, but I'm not sure I'd want to put myself in the corner for an extra 1%
 
Got maskless Kitana from the Shrine, took around 35 99,000 gold offerings (across 6 different accounts) so like 3.5 million gold; if you wanted to get maskless Kitana, Skarlet, Jade, and Frost (lul) it would probably take around 15 million gold or 30 times what they gave us as an apology. 100k gold gives a skin, 61k gave me 10 skip fights (pretty good deal), 71k gave mats, 75k-99k is for two equipment items. I've opened an ungodly amount of chests (every kind) and green things to no avail (probably like 10 million gold + 10000 soul fragments worth, many duplicates on alt accounts so there's defintely pools of items for each individual chest set), so this might be the only way to get it.

To hazard a guess these are intended to be "Premium" items that you only buy with time crystals, unfortunately since there's so many of them you probably only have the chance to buy them like once every three months (if that) for a 24 hour period.


Edit: Guess Frost's is from her third tower so need to worry about getting her instead, would've been agonizing.

I’ve seen other posts on reddit/discord saying that this is the method that worked for them. Probably just gonna stack my Koins up. At 2 million now

Concerning Kitana's air dominance: they might took her fan combo midscreen from aa but Kitana's jump ins are top tier! She remains air queen I think.

I am very impressed by her jump ins.
And her clean safe hitconfirm footsies game.

Poking after -5 against highs are always a thing (I don't call it stagger). Unless the opponent has good fast enough mid starter.

I could not really make her staggers work though. Need good condition but from the main strings (B142, B231U2) it is viable. Block stun it big though so do not surprised if not works. :)
I will give it a chance - as without successful stagger game she was pretty boring to play. Besides that I liked her toolset and playstyle.

Might be linear footsie heavy character yes but it is personal preference.

Semiij is my favorite player from IJ2 I am not surprised he plays her well.

Her B2 is super good stagger. From max range B2 is +1/+2 on block. I've started using her B131 too. It leaves you at perfect range on block.
 
What do you guys use to punish on her? I feel like B2 is the only string I use for pretty much everything and I kinda wanna change that.

Also, anyone played Highborn and got some mid-screen BnBs on her? I can't seem to juggle outside corner.

B131 is good with the same reason as B321U2... Full combo punishable on flawless block even with a long enough S1 (I tried now with Scorpion) - therefore B13 stagger can work better in the future. B13 itself remains in good range too.
I am not sure is the risk/reward is who's favor in this case!

Well it looks like flawless block will bring the extra taste we are missing from the game lol.

lowkey need to buff kitana cause i feel like dmg output was nerfed too hard especially when they took away some of her fan combos but that's just imo

I think her damage is fine. It’s her ultility that suffers.

Standing 1 or standing 2 need a range increase as they are her fastest normals leading to lift and many punishable moves are made safe because of the pushback and her short range. Shao Kahn has several unsafe normals that she just can’t punish due to range.

Her fatal blow is nothing special either. Before, we got an overhead that created a mind game when it was available and could he used in the air. In MK9, we got a fullscreen projectile. Here? A mid with short-ish range. Meh.

But most importantly she needs to be a threat when going in the air against her. It’s as much her defining trait as Scorpion’s teleport.

Really nice. I've been using F222 ender a lot in the same combo for meterless damage, but I've never thought to do F2 DF2 KB XD. Thanks
That’s the ender I’ve been using after a D2 KB. So it looks like d2, b14 lift, ji3, dash, F2 df2. It’s just shy of 50% with both KB’s.

Aesthetically Kitana is my favorite character in the game. I've never liker her, but she looks incredible in this game. I've been grinding her out in practice mode. I came up with this sexy staircase combo


I was heartbroken when I found out b1,2,3 doesn't KB in a punish combo. That could've made this so sick (and knowing earlier could've saved me a few hours of my life)
 
It's a very interesting challenge to make this character work but having alot of fun with her.

Some stuff I've noticed

  • Edenian razor feels really fine to just throw out in neutral. Like I'll just throw it at a range where I know my opponent wants to press one of their long advancing buttons or might jump in- like you can catch a ton of Erron F4's just by dancing around with this move. The recovery is really fast it can be held so I've not really been whiff punished for it much yet.
  • Her j2 feels really good especially compared to alot of other jump in attacks in the game.
  • I'm using d4 to go into her sai stance. Sai stab or cancel on block to stay safe or walk back and try to bait a whiff counterpoke, and seeking Sai on hit for d4 feels really good.
  • b13 into sai stance also feels pretty good. On block the pushback really limits the opponents options so it definitely feels like it opens up all my options. I really like b13 as a string
  • b2 is ok I guess. All the options are ass on block and there's not really stagger potential. But making my opponent respect it's range
  • f2 I only use for converting off jump kicks since dash up f2222 seems to always land no matter the distance and the damage is good.
  • d2 and s1 both feel great as anti airs
All her other strings feel pretty ass on block. Being -5 on block in this game with a 7 frame poke pretty much means you cannot steal a turn. b142 is ok but honestly if I'm in b1 range then b13 is a better option in so many ways. It's not worth it to fish for stray hits.

D4 sai cancel is definitely unsafe af lol.

B2 is a far advancing mid that’s neutral in block. The second hit is special cancellable, which throws people off. The third hit is -5 on block and is special cancellable. Also it’s -5 after a sai cancel. The other 2 follow ups are safe on block and one of them leads into a KB, but can can be flawlessed blocked. How is that just “ok” and “ass”?
