sign me up for every single one of the klassics. I hope to god my brother doesn't decide we leave early this time, I was so pissed that I missed out at NEC.

As Phil said, because of the likely-uber-tight scheduling, UMK3/MKII/KI are the only 3 sidegames that'll definitely be going down; anything else, be it Trilogy or otherwise, all depend on whether or not they'll fit. One can hope for time, but it's not a guarantee...however, between the night-before hype and hijinks, the highlight reel that's going to be Day 1 Pools, and whomever the 8 warriors are who make it to the Top laying waste to each other on Day 2, there's going to be moooooore than enough action that weekend to send everyone home happy .

Personally, I have my own opinions and I think UMK3 will always happen, so my advice is make it a 16 man bracket instead that littel 8'er....lol I'm still working out the detail but I am again looking to bring a group of people (even though everyone in the last group chickened-out), and I can also likely get some of them to help out w/ set-ups and w/e else need be. As long as we keep getting at least 8 people per tourney for older games, I will always say "let's keep doing them"....just hopefully that damn Church Group can get a different room next time. There were several times UMK3 needed to be run w/ a 32-man bracket.

Time and money permitting, I will join all the older tourneys UMK3, MK2, KI and hopefully we can FINALY get some CvS2 this time. ....we will just have to hustle this time.

It's funny how everyone says "I'll play it, I'll play it" and in the end the "old school" tournaments end up with barely 10 players (considering the fact that MK9 has almost 100.) When all of you say "Ill play it" make sure you do....Otherwise don't just fill the forum space with nonsense.....

I just talked to E-Jay a minute ago and plans have changed again. he is no longer coming up from Savannah to visit, he is moving back permanently, and as soon as I said "Winter Brawl" he immediately said "count me in", so you can add him for AT LEAST UMK3......and if we need more Staff, he's pretty good w/ PCs and shit so I'm sure he'd be glad to help out as well.

I like the expanded mid-high tier (and MK1 Rayden).

Most of the really broken combo videos have N64-only combos.

Yes, without even THINKING about it. AT least Kabal and H. Smoke are only S-tier and are very beatable w/ smart play and good tactics (alot of caution), Noob is so broken he breaks HIMSELF, and Rain isn't much better. Free infinite from a RH? SRSLY, dude? What's tournamnet viable about either of them? Not to mention I think MK2 Jax/Lao are also banned (I could be wrong).....but by the time u narrow it down to who is legal, you end up with UMK3 again......played at 60 FPS, so still broken. Baraka has broken damage, Raiden has easy Teleport infinite......the list goes on.

If you ever played MKT at high-level, you'd never touch it again....

If we were to run MKT, like we had planned at NEC, then MKT will have all characters except for boss characters legal, including Noob and Rain. Rain's infinite takes skill, and though Noob can do some braindead damage, the GH PSX version at least makes his resets require some skill.

Dude, i'll PLAY it, but if we have to choose, I don't want it to REPLACE UMK3. If we can do both, then I like the idea, but other than that, I'm UMK3 all the way.

UMK3 is a staple... that never changes. MKT is an EXTRA... but only if there's time to do it.

If we ever do MKT, we have to play the PSX version on a PC via emulation in order to support controls. We will also have to start and stop the emulation any time someone needs to use a stick or pad on a side that doesn't. It is hugely problematic at best to run MKT.

MKT will never replace UMK3. The first MK tournament I ever attempted to run myself was at NEC4 in 2003, PSX MKT on a 13" CRT screen. We had my Blaze two player double sided arcade stick and two PSX pads. I remember Tom Brady playing against the Prophet in pad warrior matches. I went and got Chinese food in the middle across the street, came back and they had given up. After that we missed NEC5 and from there we've always run UMK3. I will do some research on multi input PSX emulators but I have never heard of any that would do the basic plug and play/on the fly the control changes that we'd need. If we had PSX sticks we could run it on a PSX of course, however with the emulation you can set it up so throttle is always on and you blow through load times instantly, making Shang a viable character with all morphs enabled.

As for games I'm playing, you can put me down for UMK3 and MKII.

I still like the game, but I just don't know how to beat the BS I'm faced with against too many top tiers. As long as Jax, KL, Kabal, and Raiden have somethin to say about it, I have almost no chance to win.

I feel the same way about Online, as a whole. Like, how can I learn when my teacher is partly broken?
