Again we meet, NRS.
Again you’ve done fucked it up.
I think this is nothing but a joke for NRS to make a story mode for this series. What.The.Fuck.
This game alone has more plot holes than the entire MK1-MKX story put together.
WHY? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE? AM I A JOKE TO YOU??
So, MK11 starts with Cassie’s chapter and Sonya’s death. Then Kronika appears and...what? Couldn’t she just kill everyone to avoid her own demise?
That girl literally brought Kitana back so that she kills Shao Kahn, her own general? Kitana then puts together Tarkatan/Shokan alliance to fight her? WHAT?
Frost joins Kronika because of Sub and Raiden. Great. Waiting for another shitty comic series to see that developed. Real smooth.
Sonya beats Geras one on one. Fucking Jaqui fights Cetrion.
Erron, Baraka, Scarlet, Kabal, Kollector and Noob are nothing but punching bags. Pathetic.
Raiden wants to kill Liu FOR FUCKING NOTHING and then gets those memories (How? Nobody gave a fuck how) thoygh those memories were cool to see they were also dumb. Liu Kang becomes a God then fuvks everyone up and takes Kronika’s place. With Kitana. Starting everything again. WHAT? Again, why couldn’t Kronika KILL everybody? Why did D’vorah disappear after killing Scorpion? What did all this give us? ANOTHER REBOOT with no old characters? You basically made MKX story USELESS! Shinnok, Cage’s powers, new characters, ALL THAT! WHY, NRS? And some people will really follow this bullshit and make up excuses that can’t be made up.
Before yesterday I was really hyped for the story but I give this atrocious story mode my rank of piece of shit/10.
Trash talk me all you want, but this is an insult to the players and common sense.
Gameplay wise I love this game. The only problem is the worst mofo writing in the universe. 13960
The only good thing about this story mode that at least it’s A LOT better than MKX’s story. I was cringing for a year about that one.

when you think of it, mk stories are miles ahead of other fighting games and kinda reinvented the wheel, not saying they are not shitty sometimes

While I don't agree that it's as bad as the OP, I just finished it an hour ago and I do feel like it's too fanfiction-y.
Most of it is utterly forgettable and even though MKX's story mode was bad in hindsight, I still was hype while playing it.
This didn't really make me feel that hyped while playing.

I haven't played Story Mode yet, but I'm too realistic to expect it to be anything other than a clusterfuck. An epic with elements of time travel? It'll be messy as fuck. Think about this: in a few years, it'll probably be rebooted again. And again. Nothing really sticks in Mortal Kombat, so whatever has set you off, it's not going to matter in Mortal Kombat 14 or whatever. There's no point in getting so pissed off when everything will change anyway. Focus on what you do like about the game. I hope there's something, even if it's just the variations or online mode.

It’s not something I pulled from my ass. Devs said that the story is great, showed us a bunch of STORY related stuff and now when it’s shit we gotta say “Well, it’s just a fighting game, so who cares?”
I get what you say, it’s just I find it wrong to call the story irrelevant if it’s supposed to be one of the best sides of the game.

They're hardly going to say "This is a shit story with terrible dialogue," are they? I actually really enjoyed MKX's Story Mode. I thought it was well-paced, gave everyone something to do, and told a good story with some good villains. It might be difficult to top that. However, I'm going into this hoping for the best.

Yes. It was an effective retelling of Mortal Kombat 4 with good pacing and (for the most part) a solid cast that (again, for the most part) had something to contribute. Whether or not you like those characters is another thing completely. I reckon MKX will be very highly regarded in years to come.

I have the feeling this will be one of the greatest Mk Story modes ever I mean The trailers just hint at the expanding universe from a bunker too a bug cave and a coliseum!
EDIT: also this story will have MAJOR Feels.

That's a decent argument though with Kronika having the powers that are shown.

It's the writers' fault for making her a time keeper who is as old as the Universe and can atip and bend time at will.

They should have thought better than to make a time travel story
