MK11 female designs are... extremely underwhelming

Most of the times, people make up excuses to justify why they "don't like the costumes" instead of plainly admitting they want tits and ass. This may not be the case here, but I get suspicious you know?

The female characters in MK11 look the best they've ever did in the series so far. I actually WANT to play and even main female characters. This is a huge deal because I never main female characters in fighting games and I don't often play them much. But this time? This time they finally made them appealing to me.

You want some criticism? Here it is.

1) The women seem to all have the same exact body type, which makes me feel like it's a Barbie to whom you change the head and outfits.

2) High heels on Kitana and Jade are friggin' stupid, they're almost equally stupid on D'vorah, and maybe Cetrion is the only one who can wear them although in my opinion she'd look better barefooted.

Even so, they are the best women I've seen in any fighting game. I've never been so hyped to play as female characters in a fighting game.

I always preferred how games like King of Fighters handled it.

Where you had female characters like Mai, but also female characters like King that wore a suit.

They had a balance. It wasn't all one side.

There's literally no argument against this. The males were handled perfectly, so it is how the females should have been handled as well.

It's just annoying because you can tell the costumes are designed with caution rather than passion. They went all out with characters like Johnny Cage and Liu Kang, you can tell they had fun. But with the likes of Sonya, Cassie and Kitana there was a checklist that had to be checked off on what could and couldn't be.

This isn't actually how NRS wants to design their characters, it's just the current climate scaring them into boring designs. I know this because of MKX. MKX was where they started preaching about covering the women up, but if you look at the concept art for the females, every one of them were butt ass naked at one point.

And the flat asses. Jesus Christ the flat asses. Every man is oiled up and muscled beyond belief, but every chick is rocking a LONGBACK. You wanna set a trend NRS? Put some meat on that. Big asses are the most underutilized weapon in video games. Titties everywhere, but booty? Discriminated.

Tbf it only seems like Cassie has got short changed so far. Its hard to imagine that the team that designed her were really excited and passionate about those outfits.

Still is exciting to think what thet could do in the future.. even if its just swaping out the armour.

I admittedly haven't seen all the female gear of course, but Kitana, Jade, D'vorah, Skarlet and Jacqui look lovely and varied enough.

I think it's mainly just Cassie (and to a lesser degree Sonya), her outfit pallet/variety is just awful and I definitely wouldn't argue otherwise.

There's not enough variance. Her sports gear, the military attire, and something else cool and different alongside the space suit would be nice.

What I'm thinking is some of these characters might have some of their most stylish stuff as DLC too, it's an easy sell honestly.

Really the 2nd variation basic look sticks out as a sore thumb of odd design choice...her first look makes sense, and they could have the third look battle armor thing (she looks like she needs a helmet tho heh), but the 2nd is just sorta military clothing and redundant with her 1st look existing.

Prob is Cassie's looks are dominated way too much by MKX Sonya (MK9 Sonya is loooong gone), and there's no Cassie look that fits with the Johnny Cage in her which in truth, character-wise there's more of him in Cassie I think.

They gotta give her another skin...and maybe not one run by that one art director dude heh.

I also wanted a camo pattern for her 1st look...I ain't seen it yet, I'll have to settle for something green I guess.

Jade skins are ...meh. Deception. They just changed a little part of her armor and made 3 "different" skins with that... The 3rd human skin is great....but why keeping the hood ??

They clearly should have put a face/hood/hair option for the gears, apart from the masks...

Same for Kitana, the best ones are the revenants one. I hope NRS will update them with normal/human skin.

True, there's a good handful of costumes who are pretty bad, but each character has a costume I think looks great! At least the ones I care about. And I'm lucky that the characters I really care about seem to have several great costumes. ^^

Most of them are locked, but you can see them in the customization menu. So yes, we have seen all of them... : /

You know what? If some people are THAT desperately thirsty for fictional fighting game boobs, sure, put Kitana and Jade in an optional skimpy outfit and call it Outworld-style clothing.

The problem is..... would that be enough? No. No it won't. We have Cetrion in loincloth, bra and high heels and people still whine because she doesn't have big boobs, an anime-like face and an overly flirty, sexual behaviour.

If MK was a realistic series every special forces character would wear SWAT gear with helmets and have no variation between them. The fights would be over after the first stabbing and Fatalities wouldn't break the laws of physics. And yet it's not a realistic series.
The MK races are a bit of a hot topic. I still have no idea what skin color Jade has. I just took it that they shot it with availiable actors and called it a day.

What's wrong with Jade poledancing?
The issue isn't Cetrion's skin or really any newcomers' skin. I could care less if new female characters have a conservative outfit. My issue is changing an established character's design to the point where it's the opposite of what it previosly was.

Not to offend anyone with this viewpoint, but I think it's a really weak argument to just assume "oh those who want the skimpier outfits/classic outfits just want to get off, masturbate to them" What about those of us who just want ohh I don't know, variety? Classic nostalgic outfits that you know made these characters who they are? Just because a chick in a game dresses sexy or clad doesn't mean she's an automatic "stripper" lol. "oh she's in a bikini looking she's a stripper" I'm sorry, but by this logic every woman who goes to the beach would be considered a "stripper" And that's clearly not the case.

I'm pretty sure most who want them don't wack it to that let's be realistic here lol. I mean I love the classic outfits and it's not because I want to rub one out (like others here seem to think or because I want them to look like strippers) I just think they look cooler and it's what defined them to begin with. For the former, as others including myself have mentioned already that's what A. real women/GF's/wives etc and/or B. porn are for) I'd also like to point out that I knew a girl who used to car model and they made her dress in clad, sexy outfits does that mean she's a stripper? I also have a friend who does modeling part time still, yet she's very conservative with how she dresses at the job I met her from(which was Target) and believe me there were women at that job I worked with who went out of their way to show cleavage, their asses with tight jeans etc, etc yet this girl did not. So did that make her a stripper? No, it was just her job. My point is not every women who dresses real or especially in a fictional video game is a stripper, degrading or sexualized. Some women actually want the attention, others just like wearing things that look good on them. But back on.

It's almost like in the real world we have a thing called the agency of a person, which can actually be determined, and should supercede any argument over what is acceptable? And since video game costumes are designed with intentions the conversation is a little different?

The only way to navigate this is to consider whether the costume fits a the character's origins, personality, aesthetics, etc. Don't fucking @ me about shirtless Jax and Liu Kang, dudes don't care enough to be a part of this conversation and it's as simple as that.

Now with that out of the way NRS completely dropped the ball with Cassie's costumes. She's already pretty armored up in her default and I can think of no good reason for her to go full Anthem Javelin in her alts. The end result is different (scantily clad vs. armored up) but the problem is the same. Cassie's personality was pretty well established in MKX and these costumes don't reflect that or the choices she would make given her character. That's why Endurance Cassie in MKX was so dope.

I agree with This It Is always weird seeing heels in a fighting game, and we need more body styles fat and skinny!
