MK11 Story Mode Predictions

Tarkatan Gunslinger
Saw that sketchy looking story mode leak going around (not buying it), and it got me thinking of things I think will happen in the story mode. Based on the story trailer we got recently, I think I have some pretty safe guesses, but I'd love to see what the community is thinking.

For starters, in regards to deaths, I think that with the whole time travel debacle happening, that they may not be as prominent as they were in the previous games. I believe it's a safe bet to assume Kronika isn't going to make it, as I think that by her winning, the next game would kind of be a repeat of MK9 with the heroes trying to fix the timeline and change the future. So I think Kronika is biting the dust. I also don't think D'Vorah is toast, mostly because I happen to really like her and don't understand some people's hatred towards her. And if Shao Kahn and Kotal Kahn go up against one another, I'm not too sure who I see winning that encounter. All I know is that either way, it better be close.

And I think Takeda and Kenshi's absence will be explained relatively soon by their MKX endings being shown to be canon with them hunting down the Red Dragon. As for Kung Jin... who knows? Maybe he went somewhere with Bo' Rai Cho and he'll return in MK12 with some cooler moves. As for matchups, I think Baraka and Mileena are owed a rematch against D'Vorah, Shao Kahn and Kotal Kahn need to fight, and I'm super excited for Hanzo versus Scorpion. Also Sub-Zero and Frost should definitely fight, especially if Frost is part cyberized like some theories seem to suggest.

All in all, these are just some ramblings/predictions, so let me know if you agree! I also want to see what you all want to see happen in the story

I'll interpret this as the "WHO WILL DIE" thread, because we know some people will die.

1. Sonya

2. Geras

3. Skarlet

They better not kill Kano.

It's funny that you mention Sonya, as I purposely didn't mention her as someone I think will die. I know the intro with Cassie and Raiden led some people to believe that, but with the whole alternate timeline thing, I don't know if that'll be the case. So while I'd be cool with Sonya dying, I don't think it'll really happen, or at least be permanent (Revenant Sonya maybe? It'd definitely make her more interesting). I also don't think they'd kill Skarlet so soon either, but I agree with you on that they will kill Geras, and they better NOT even think about killing off Kano

2. Geras
Yeah Geras dying was gonna be my prediction too. More specifically, they're gonna write him as someone who is immortal/invincible and a Special Forces character is gonna kill him and people are gonna be salty as fuck lol.

Well it doesn't matter who kills him, it's just a matter of who can stop him from coming back

I think Onaga is going to play some role in the game. Maybe he will just be the post-credits scene, I don't know. But I do think he'll be around in some form, because:

In the Mortal Kombat 11 Reveal Event build, Geras' had a gear accessory called "Totem of Immortal Onaga". Why would he have gear referencing Onaga?

In the most recent build of the game (the Cassie and Kano hands-on build going around right now), there was a video showing someone with a "Dragon Challenge" and it rewards something called "Fragments of The One Being" which DOESN'T seem to be a Tower Consumable or currency that we know of. It's name and reward is obviously a reference to Onaga, but to be fair we don't know what it is exactly.

This point is kind of a reach, but in MKX, if you level-up ALL factions which takes forever, your "special" reward is a Kombat Kard set with new art of Onaga. It seems weird to me that your special reward of either playing forever or grinding a Kustom Kombat exploit is something referencing Onaga, when nothing else in the game really referenced him. Maybe it was a hint?

My last point is a spoiler about the MKX comic series:

At the end of the MKX comic series, Goro meets with Daegon to talk about The Dragon King. Their plans are never talked about, and we have no idea if they succeeded or not. Daegon did game Kenshi captured, and since the comic series takes place before the game, we know that Kenshi gets out. Maybe since he is out, that means their plans were stopped, but again, we simply don't know.

All the hints towards Onaga is kinda weird, especially since NRS doesn't really seem to want to do a lot of 3D-era related stuff in their newer games. Why do they keep hinting at him?

I like this idea a lot, especially of him being a post credit scene (assuming things work out against Kronika). Since Kenshi and Takeda are presumably absent from this game working with Taven, that could be a good lead up to the MK12 story. I imagine a post credit scene either having Onaga showing up, or Reptile being involved in some way referencing the rise of Onaga. Or maybe Onaga is successfully summoned by Goro and Daegon. Either way, I think it's time the Dragon King makes his return

Thrill Kill
For once I'd like to see someone sacrificing themself to kill a powerful enemy or save someone else.

idk, imagine if everything is going to shit and somehow Skarlet absorbed the blood of all the spectators in Kahn's arena and is kicking everyone's asses while some portals are opening to other Realms... and then she is about to kill Jade but Kotal Kahn attacks Skarlet from behind and says to Jade and the other characters: "You must go on! go back to Earthrrealm!", and Raiden gives him a nod and they all flee. Then Kotal pushes Skarlet into a portal to the Netherrealm where everything is exploding. Kotal fights but she's too powerful. However, he bought some time to the others and the portals close! He gets defeated in the end, but Raiden and the others are safely in Earthrrealm plotting their counter strike to Kronika's forces.

We did have Nightwolf sacrifice himself to kill Sindel in MK9, but it's definitely not a bad idea. I can see Kotal doing something like that, but hopefully to someone a bit more powerful than Skarlet. Not to underestimate her, but maybe he does it against Shao Kahn?

True! Nightwolf was a true hero.

I wish Kotal and Shao Kahn have an epic fight. I think it's possible what you're suggesting. Perhaps Shao Kahn shows up at some point in the story trying to kill Raiden and the main characters, and Kotal steps in to contain him and help the others escape.

Things that are going to happen:
1. Old Sonya will die.
2. Kano will die.
3. D`vorah will be an insufferable bitch. But she`s gonna live yet again.
4. Raiden will do something stupid and ungodlike. Multiple times.
5. Young Johnny will have a jetpack accident (We see him all bloody in a trailer).
6. Young Sonya and Cass will be besties. Young Sonya will try to sacrifice herself for Cassie jeopardizing the future. She will succeed and Cassie will be erased from the current timeline.
7. Jacqui is going to destoy MK as a successful franchise by wearing that dumbass footwear with toes.
8. Kotal is going to beat Shao Kahn and everyone will lose it.
9. Kronika is not going to be an interesting villian.

Cassie is the most popular character to come out of MKX. They're not going to erase her from the timeline.

I just hope they don’t nerf Liu Kang and don’t kill him. Neither Cassie Johnny nor Raiden are remotely close to him in terms of fighting.
I think either old Liu will revive the current one or sonething like that. Also hope old Liu isn’t an arrogant asshol

I don't see Geras dying. Somebody has to watch over history after they kill/seal Kronika. And Raiden seems to want to bring out Geras' better half. I can see them convincing Geras to betray Kronika and then take over as keeper of time.

That actually sounds amazing! I love Geras' character so far, so seeing him go so soon would suck. But this could be a cool way to cement his return in future games!

Have you ever seen the Rain?
Uhm, characters like Mileena (She has many clones), D'Vorah (she can regenerate like in the comic) and Geras (he died many times) can easily die in the story, they can come back anyway.

For characters like Sonya and Jax they can die and return as undead evils (Cheap, but true)

So nobody ever dies in MK, they just invent Kronika 2.0 and the dead characters are back from cheap timeline stories.

And this time, I really want some bad guys killing good guys, especially those from Special Forces, I mean, why only bad guys can die in one on one fights? In MK9 they at least killed off the good-guys, but this was done poorly and with stupid reasons, but in MKX only bad guys died, the special forces bores were like invincible. I hope Sonya and Jax die in storymode, and for real.

I feel the way they've brought back every character so far was justifiable.

Except for how they revived Jax and Sub Zero. Sonya stomps on Quan Chi's nuts and all of sudden it's like they woke up from a bad dream? That was plain terrible.
