I believe it is actually, I've went to school with a dude way back named Striker but It may have been a nickname as he was on a soccer team. I worked with a guy, friend of mine named Curtis. I'm sure there's a Stryker somewhere.

I named her and my wife also loved the name.

I know lots of Johnny's over time, Sonya only one so far. This girl I went to school with wayyyy back.

Well my dog's name is Milly (Short for Mileena). My mom hates the name Mileena though because of "melena" which is "dark black, tarry feces that are associated with upper gastrointestinal bleeding" rather than the love, warmth, grace meaning of the name Milena.


If I were to name my kid after a Mortal Kombat character there's only a few I actually consider like Erron, Kano, Kurtis, Tomas (Human Smoke), Jarek, Kira, Ferra, Cassie & Tasia.

I find that most of the names are too foreign/ethnic, too pornstar/stripper-ish, too crazy or just blah.

Several of these names I've known, worked with, went to school with etc, all the way back in as early is 1995. actually earlier cuz I knew a Jade in gradeschool. But i've definitely encountered a Johnny, Sonya, Tanya, Kira, Jade, Cassie, Kurtis, and Jaqui. Some have had alternate spellings or exact. I've heard the names Erron and Jarek before but they were spelled differently. All the female names i really like. I also really like the name Jarek. I actually know a Sonya, Cassie, and just recently worked with a Tanya but she recently left the company. Actually i worked with a Jaqui too. but it was just spelled as Jackie. Johnny, Sonya, Jade, and Tanya were probably the most common at the time. A lot of these names were popular or had their moment of popularity during the dev's lifetime. Johnny and Tanya are both legendary country singers. and Boon said he had a sister named Tanya iirc so that would make sense. I think Mileena is an older name too but just fell out of popularity. As others said, you can get lots of nicknames from it. Mill, Milly, Lena. I think names like Jade you hear less of cuz it may not sound like something you'd say to a baby. But I dunno....all of that is subjective. I mean, I wouldn't name a kid Goro, Sub-Zero, Scopion, Raiden or anything like that but many others i really like. All the female names I think would work for a kid. I think Kitana and Sindel are made up names. I wouldn't name a kid Sheeva. I'm not gonna have kids anyway i think at this point lol. If I did though my kids would be called Jerrica and if a boy Jarek. anyway. i voted yes cuz most i would use.

lol I can see Tasia or Taja sounding like stripper names, both from MK but different mediums. Also, I know it's not him but your avy looks like Chucky going through a wall kind of lol

I used to work with a Serena. lol I believe she was swedish.

She might’ve been but it’s not a common swedish name. There’s only about 200 people called Serena in Sweden. (Yeah I checked)
