Soul Calibur 6: THE SOUL STILL BURNS!

It's disrespect for the sake of disrespect. I mean, there isn't much to say.
I disagree, it has an actual chance to effect the opponent mentally. If it was just “disrespect for the sake of disrespect”, it wouldn’t even be worth bringing up imo.

But wouldn't you want to win because you're the stronger player? I mean, I could heckle the player next to me during a real tournament match (this was VERY common at Evo 2012, though usually they got a friend to do it for them) and frustrate him so I'd have better chance of winning.

I want to beat the player when they're at their best so I can gauge my own skill. So I ask again, why do you want your opponent to play worse? If it's for rank points, I have no counterargument, but the whole idea goes against competitive play and trying to improve.

Well yeah, there’s a difference between playing to win and playing to improve.

Regardless, it’s something you can do in game. If you can mentally effect someone so easily, why wouldn’t you do it? It’s just like doing babalities/fatalities in MK. Anything I can do to throw you off your game, I will take full advantage of 100% of the time. 100% of the time I’m playing to win, that is.

Well, that's the crux of the issue, IMO. It might be because the other player is petty and inclined to salt. That's not uncommon. It may also be because they just visited their grandmother who's dementia has gotten so bad she doesn't recognize anybody. Maybe the player is trying to unwind with Soul Calibur to get his mind off the fact that on Wednesday no one knew why Grandma was crying because her mind has so badly deteriorated that she can't speak anymore.

Or... maybe it's salt, lol. I don't know. I do know it's better to create a positive environment when possible. You don't know what's going on behind the other side of that wire. This is a philosophical difference. I'm not trying to sell anything here. I do firmly believe that not teabagging and messaging "gg" goes a long way and makes the game better for everyone.

Cool video, but the guy is right: 40s of intro is way too long!

Thoughts on teabagging/taunting in ranked? I had been doing it just for no reason, but noticed people get really salty. I’ll teabag, guard cancel, or taunt. There’s not always a reaction, but when there is, they usually get more aggro and flustered. I also been getting hatemail more, but that’s whatever. It’s 100% from the taunting.

Just curious what y’all think. Does it phase you at all? When someone teabags me it makes me laugh and that’s about it. Maybe I’m just used to people being MAD disrespectful in older fighting games.
I find it annoying. Not because I see it as disrespectful towards me (at least not since I got used to it), but because I just don't see why can't we have a more sportsmanship filled enviroment.

And that goes with other things too, such as leaving without granting a rematch due to salt. For example today I was playing ranked and got matched this Yoshi player: first couple of rounds was all me, but then he started adapting and while I ended up taking the first match, he took the second one solid. I was all pumped for this final match, and thinking how I could adapt just like he did... but he left. Why?! Now maybe he had stuff to do, that's cool and it happened to me as well. But this happened quite often so I doubt everyone has stuff to do.

I understand wanting to get into your opponent's head, but as long as money, pride or whatever isn't on the line, I'd rather win by skill alone or not at all.

Game's awesome and fun. @karaokelove your character is discussing and you and everyone playing him should be ashamed of yourselves.
Seriously, I keep trying to learn other characters and being like, "umm...what's the point? Azwel can do this, but better..." That Ax stance is just nuts, especially in combination with his strong zoning and insane 60% double super.

Dude is a crazy light show with range and damage. He seems like he could be a free ride to E ranks. I'm solid mediocre, but when I see him it looks like the player has never lost on their way through mid F ranks. - everyone of them. If I can pin him down I can tell if a is player is just OK, but once I'm on defense I don't know how to get back into control.

6B is fast and I can't even side step 6BB if I'm in gloomy. I think I've had more trouble figuring out options in training against him than any other character so far. It's hard to tell what's going on through all the flash and stuff happens scary fast.

I'm a meh level player, so there are going to be characters that just blow me the crap up in this game.

Woah now. Azwel is super good, but a Cassie player should never ever talk shit about other people's characters ever. Really: never do it.

That said he is pretty bust, but as long as Siegfried, Groh and Nightmare remain untouched, I'd say Azwel isn't an issue.

Are you on Steam? I'd be happy to run through some practice sets with you. I don't think I've lost to a Tira yet...

His 6B starts up in 14 frames when he is in Ax mode. 6BB is +4, so if you block a 6BB, your best bet is probably GI or Reversal Edge. The 2nd hit of 6BB can be sidestepped, but if that's not working, I believe you can GI it on reaction pretty easily. Definitely try not to block it due to the frame trap and 12.5% guard crush.

If you can ever get offense started, it can tough for him to poke out. If he's not in Sword Stance, his fastest poke is 14 frames. His 2A is 22 frames! When in Sword Stance he gains access to 10-frame highs and 14-frame mids/special-lows.

When he's zoning, try to duck the red axes and sidestep the blue shields. You can tell he's going to do a shield because he'll go into Shield Stance first. The Ax is just 66A, but you should be able to crouch on reaction. It catches a lot of side-steppers, so crouching is the preferred method to deal with it. It's -10 on block and only does 4% guard crush, so blocking is also ok. The shield does 9% guard break, so try to sidestep or guard impact, just be careful not to get rung out by it.

His double Ax swing (6AA) is +2 on block and his 6B is 14 startup, so only try to poke with your 10-frame moves if you have any.

His low-hitting 9A is -16, so you should be able to get a decent punish. 9B is only -4 but with massive push-back, so be wary of walk-back whiff punishes.

If he goes into Ax Stance from mid screen or further, he's probably going for Ax-Stance-A, which is his high-hitting guard break. It's +2 on block and leaves him in Ax stance, so expect a 14 frame 6B or 18-frame 6A followup.

His powerful low-hitting Ax stance B+K is -20, and his other B+K moves are -16, so be sure to punish them hard on block.

While he's Soul Charged, his 6A+B becomes +4, his 44A+B becomes +2, and all of his attacks are stance-fast (so 6b is 14 frames, etc). 6A+B does 22% guard damage. 44A+B does 9% but isn't capable of actually breaking your guard.

Hope that helps!

This! Azwel's got the versatility, but those characters have the raw damage, mixups, hyper-aggression, and easy-mode ringout potential.

I am on steam and we are even friends already (The Venomouse). I'm up for the education, but there is a good chance you will toss me around like a doll. I'm generally ok with that, but hate to waste people's time if I can't offer much.

Tira is an interesting situation because everything changes between her stances. Gloomy is largely faster and has the damage there. She actually can't sidestep 6BB in gloomy and has to gi or hold it. The fact that she can in one stance and not another makes me feel like there have to be characters that can't side step the gap at all. Or gloomy Tira is the worst side stepper in the game. I'd be curious to know if there are good and bad side steppers. I'm not not sure what that has to do with anythin.

Probably should eat my burger. It's sitting right here saying "I died for you man. Aren't you going to eat me?"

Oh wow, awesome. Well I'm on right now just fucking around with Azwel in practice mode and will probably be on most of the day. I'm also on Discord with a mic, so just hit me up if you want to run sets or just test out shit. I'm down for whatever.

Lets not forget that while all of these characters need to be toned down, honest characters like Cervantes need buffs. Obviously. :DOGE
