Dragon Ball FighterZ Discussion Thread (Game)

It's all so very confusing.
I have a love/hate relationship with this game I think a lot of mechanics are stupid but i think the design of some characters are dope.

What mechanics specifically? Not asking to be argumentative, just curious. There are a few things I'm not a huge fan of myself.

For me, I feel like blockstrings in general need some work. Not just AGohan/Cell stuff, but just in general. I dont think its not balanced or anything necessarily, it's just not enjoyable or particularly interesting to sit there while someone basically goes through a step-by-step showcase of their character's normals, then specials, then assists lol. Shrug.

I wish reflect worked a little differently. I dont know how precisely, just differently. Id like to see some kind of pushblock system, maybe tied to its own type of meter, or a limited number of uses, something like that. Change that and the blockstring/pressure stuff is fine. Reflect is just odd. Again, I dont know precisely what should be done, I just dont like its current implementation.

That's mostly it for me. SD is kinda dumb sometimes, but at the same time, its so easy to beat if its mis-used that usually when I get mad about it, I look back and realize I deserved to get opened up with it because I was sloppy, or the other guy just used it at a really good time/situation.

Oh and four character teams because then I wouldnt have to make difficult choices. lol.

I’m curious as well.

Most people complain about the long safe block strings, but I suppose coming from UMK3 (yay I mentioned umk3 again, the Juggs classic) that I’m used to long, inescapable, block pressure. Except in that game, you can chip someone to death in the corner and they can’t get out of it, lol.

In other news, thanks to @ShArp I’m gonna try out Kid Buu in place of Goku Black. Black is good but he doesn’t have crazy mixups like Kid Buu. I mean he has some with his instant transmission shenanigans, but those aren’t as good now that people know about it.

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.

a 50/50 doesn't stop being a 50/50 just because people know its coming

Really? I think the exact opposite. I tend to fish for people pressing buttons with his pressure. A stray hit leads to reversal wgf and it's on from there.

He's really good. I think he's the dark horse of the game. Him, Tien & Krillin.

Mainly my issue is with catching airborne opponents with a jab so its kinda starting out with a juggle, and it feels like Yamcha doesnt get much off anything non grounded.

I need to watch sets played by high level Yamcha players to get it down I think.

Listen. There's nothing wrong in catching a jab mid air or stuffing a DR with 214MH(which feels so good) and going into a light or medium auto combo.

Aslo don't forget you can also use 236LMH & 214MH. 236m teleports behind which is if you caught the read off the jab first you can use a assist and input 236m to teleport behind getting a nasty cross up.

He's pretty easy to pick up. That's also a big reason like him a lot. Just getting back into anime and 3v3 fighters after many years of not playing them myself.

Hope this helps.

I hate Vanish I think the mechanic is dumb and the fact that it is plus is ridiculous. I hate the fact that you can dash cancel out of SD you should have to hold some pressure If it is blocked not make your opponent guess on your next move especially since stopping SD isn't easy unless the opponent use it in a stupid way. I hate the fact that hard tag can lead to so much damage with certain characters like Cell and finally I think that Reflect need to be reworked. IDK If it should stop being available on the 1st frame anymore then buff or what it truly need but I know it needs to be worked on.

There are no high level Yamcha anymore there was Jazzrap If you want to check his old vid

dude, chiaotzu ftw, it's one of the most damaging supers in the game. I like that you have to pick and choose with him. He's hella good for oki with the telepathic freeze thing (although you get 1/3 where he does fuck all - I hate RNG garbage)

Also what's great about Tien's NTB is there's no blue health baby. They get hit with that shit, their life is gone.
It isn't RNG the 3rd call always whiff

Vanish being able to have its recovery frames ignored by cancelling it into normals making it plus 72747727272 is super dumb.

I dont find it nearly as dumb as raw SD being safe and used as a counter to absolutely everything. People just hold up and back and then just SD as soon as you press something. Sometimes the SD pathing looks so stupid.. like you'll run under someone and it just loops around in a circle to keep tracking.

Then even if you block it people can just dash out of it or dash upwards and wiff punish you. "Oh just 2H it!" Yeah... you cant do that unless you just wait for it. Then if they have spark, just hope you get lucky and blocking keeps working.. because like half of the time followup lights just start hitting you for no reason.

Raw SD should cost a meter.

Raw SD shouldn't cost meter because it is needed for some combos. I just think it needs to be uncancellable If it is blocked.

Yeah on block SD should be negative. Nothing insane, but it more or less ends your turn. You used an ultra powerful tool that shit's on so many options your opponent has and there should be a downside to that outside getting just 2h'd.

Maybe add a 'h' SD that costs a meter and works like the current one or something. Shrug.

ShArp

Dedicated Broly main
So on top of all his already known moves that has armor...

He also has atleast 1 hit armor for his standing/down medium normal... Holy sh*t lol!

My current team is Kid Buu / Vegeta / Black - in that order and I gotta say that Im not sure anymore if A. Gohan is as scary to me as Kid sometimes. I mean if u have right both assists (for example double Beam assists) - you can do so many mix-ups in a True block-strings (can't press button/deflect) that makes u go "woah".

Been working on this video for a while, some major mix-up possibilities and actual match footage as well.
@Osagri some clips are from ours yesterday's set :p

I am fucking a shamed how many times I didnt block that third overhead :p And I agree, KB is more scaryer than A.gohan. Need to play more, have Been figuring out my third char coz Im rly bored to a.gohan. Maybe il pick Kid buu....... :p

Raw SD isnt needed for some combos.

A SD in a combo isnt a raw SD. Its a SD in a combo.

The whole thing about block strings... this is what this game needs. Faultless defense, instant blocking, blitz shields, and block bursts.
