Dragon Ball FighterZ Discussion Thread (Game)

villainous monk

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
I haven't played too much in a short while. How are you guys finding the recent patch to online? Honestly I haven't felt or seen a difference at all which is really sad. Too add on it's kinda killing my view of this game. Games with 3 or 4 frames are brutal. This game should be on roll back instead of input delay.

I even went back in I2 which I haven't touched since last summer really just to play on stable connections.

Sad tings.

So let me know what you guys think of it so far.

Sonic fox vs Go1 will be so fucking Hype Matches. Looking Forward to this.
Go1 is definitive a God, especially his A.Gohan is scary.
Like @TAKUMA said, Sonic fox is so talented and he never ever let it be happen that he get destroyed.
I believe In him :D

Apparently, Im just NOW finding out Gotenks' off stage carry. That shit is HILARIOUS! Every time i play him, i start to love him even more. And my team's synergy is starting to come along babY! Figuring assist combos with Frieza on point using both assists in combos land me about 5500 damage and corner carry for only 1 bar. Pretty damn RIGHTEOUS! Frieza, Black, Gotenks are the SHIT together!

What's everybody's team they're rocking right now ?Question mark?
SSGSS Vegeta, SS Goku, Tien.

So I went to NLBC and the training local there at next level gaming and boy this game is night and day to online.... online I cant get passed yellow square (i know it doesn't "matter") and its fucking frustrating but I finally went to my NYC local and I held my own and won sets against ppl who told me they pink square or top 100 (not every set but way better than I should considering how little I play to most) ect.... they were impressed that I told them i can only play 2-3 hours a week... is the online that bad because after I played I went home and hopped online with hella confidence and guess what? I did even worse than i normally do... I've played MKX on/offline but shit it wasn't that drastically different. Has anyone else experienced this? (btw I'm wired with the fastest internet fios offers). It feels like i can't/don't wanna play online anymore because i know how i measure up and online seem fraud af.... (things i thought were block strings weren't and i hop back on ranked and they're block string again (2 frame delay my ass)). Not even salty I'm gassed, just wished it translated to home...

Maybe you're just bad at fighting certain types of opponents?

Middle and lower ranks tend to be very random, super pressure-heavy with no real way of tracking decision making or anything. I know I myself am terrible against those kinds of players. Then I can go on to play some players who are decently skilled and I can hold my own to a reasonable degree - but this is due to a huge lack of skill on my part. I play a certain type of game decently well, and that's usually a medium paced, thinking-man's game with some general logic behind what we're doing.. but my pure technical skills are weak, so random, mashy, non-stop opponents give me a lot of trouble unless I have several sets to adjust or just get good momentum early. I'll have exploitable gaps in my timings or miss important punishes, letting them mash through offense they should not be able to mash through, and get away with dumb shit they shouldn't get away with.

Shrug. Just a thought.

That might ring true because the lower the skill the more I'm like "wtf why would you do that" lol i think i respect too much like "ok hes gonna try to mix get ready " then it auto combo into super dash lol

As I promised, here's the gif of what happened.

I knew that my buddy would block, so I had to do the Vanish to attack him from the other side, when this shit happened. I'm at a loss here.
I Just figured out Yesterday what happened here. Your character did somehow a move that crosses up and You did a vanish just after that ( I Did that with Vegeta on training). So it's a crossup non crossup vanish Loool. Cross-ception :DOGE

Sooo... don’t really post match footage yet, as I’m kinda trash. Getting there (been stomping my fellow yellows for a while now) but time’s been limited of late and I spent the first couple of weeks largely in the lab.

That said I wanted to post my hypest comeback yet against an orange. Down to a nearly dead Frieza, against a full and fairly healthy for the most part “team fun kill”. My first 2 chars basically got 16’d. Having lost the first game, I won this and the third (also hype but not like this :)). Enjoying what feels like a post coital bliss smoke now...

Without further ado:

Tbh he choked hard, and I made my share of mistakes. Still felt amazing tho.

That guy never blocked. Ever. The random buttons presses in full screen neutral was killing me.

Ikr! I think spotting that probs won me the set. I think playing 16 has given them bad habits.

I don’t normally throw out so many SD, but they were working....

So who does everyone think are the current sleepers? I once thought Majin Bill was a sleeper but after playing him, the sad fact is multiple top tiers (and even some mid tiers) can do what he does but better. More damage, less resource requirements, less assist restrictions/necessities, better neutral ect.

Lately though I definitely think Ginyu and Krillin are underrated. Krillin has the stubby normals, but he's fast, has really good screen control with Kamehameha and ki blasts, great oki with rock toss, and corner pressure with After Image can get pretty gross.

Then there's Ginyu. Like, I see so many tier lists place him mid tier and lower. His normals are actually pretty good, has good damage, next level pressure and oki with Force summons (he can actually rival some of A.Gohan's blockstrings with the right assists), and as a bonus, he technically has a level 3 that he can DHC. What am I missing? Lol.

Yeah I think Ginyu’s decent. Not top but easy mid. Might be something I’m missing tho. He’s S+ on my ‘might play next’ list.

Also, gonna switch Nappa’s starting position to mid (Frieza first). Will bring him in early, but he gets kept out too easy from the off, Frieza doesn’t care how far away you are.

Do it. He's so much fun dude. The last summon (Jeice + Burter 236S) is so good. I actually think it rivals Vegeta assist tbh. Aside from being less frequently available ofc, but you also gain the benefit of being able to move freely while it starts up and while it's active. Midscreen, if you call it high enough (like right after your hkd hit), it'll cover the whole arena. So, pressure if they block, combo if they get hit, and free breaker if they happen to hit you.

As for 5S vs 236S, I find myself mostly using Guldo's 5S for neutral and Burter's 5S for corner pressure. Everyone else I prefer the 236S version. But they're all good in their own ways for footsies and pressure. 236S Guldo good for corner oki tech checks or 236S Burter for closing off aerial movement/escape.

I run SS Goku and Black with him and boy, lemme tell you the block strings and mixups are real. So you can easily and freely shuffle through Ginyu summons as you see fit or just load up Blue Hurricane for setups. Oh and to top it off, Ginyu has numerous ToD combos lol.

Krillen is great and he has mostly been a main of mine since day 1. He is on my squad permanently now on point with trunks and black. He is very fun to try to play a lame game of zoning with while you got some assists to cover bending his ki blasts.
