For the record I must say I picked up black because I like the character and I planned on it before launch. I picked up Gohan because he is my favorite character. I picked 16 up because I had the most fun with him in beta 1. And trunks well I don't need to defend myself him no one uses him anyway

It's all so very confusing.
Black was absolutely on my list, and I still REALLY like him.. but I just couldnt play him when I watch any given stream or tournament and 80%+ of the teams run him. No judgement on anyone who uses him, hes amazing, looks cool, incredible assist. I just cant bring myself to use him right now. Maybe someday when/if the meta gets off his nuts lol. I love 21, but I THINK I could make a case for dropping her in favor of Black.

Like Ive said before, Im destined to be a scumbag in this game, all the characters I like are bonkers.. AGohan, Black, Cell, Kid, Hit etc. My personal top 5-8 looks like the games likely top 5-8 lol.

Imo, play who you like and if that's the best of the best, then, well, awesome. I mean, honestly even if you only play the characters because they're broken AF and want every possible advantage, no harm in setting yourself up as best you can. I PERSONALLY have serious trouble bringing myself to play the really over-used characters, but the more time that passes the harder it is - because Im effectively gating myself from characters I really like.

I hope that whoever designed 16 with his stupid ass normals and free hard knockdowns gets dunked IRL into a moving truck with armor.

This dipshit character can reflect and I'm like 3 characters away and still somehow smack me with his mediums.

I'm all kinds of butthurt yes.

Ok, so.. real talk. Call me scrubby, whatever. But 16 is the only character I play against that makes me feel cheated. I also think he's the only character in the game I think is poorly designed. Some design choices may not work super well on characters (yet - who knows how things will develop as tech and the meta progress) but they are still fun and interesting and engaging and make most matchups have little, interesting quirks and nuances.. but 16 just.. doesnt. He takes all that away.

Dont get me wrong, dunking fools with 16 is INCREDIBLY satisfying and he can be a super fun character to play (He was my point for a while) and there is absolutely skill behind him - Im not throwing shade on legit 16 players - but his design allows non-legit, button mashing, random lunatics to get a LOT more than they should out of him IMO.

Android 16 is what would happen if you gave grapplers in other anime games access to universal movement options (which they're usually the only ones who lack) and a decent projectile.

I been working on styling HARD with Beerus orbs but it's also practical shit

That's one example off the set up but there's like a million ways I can go off it. Even that 6M leads to full combo too if not blocked.

Let me know what you guys think. My experience with Venom is definitely helping a lot here. This character is my favourite thing about this game.
That’s seriously nice, definitely gonna have to play him at some point now. Great work!

Edit what optimal/setup do you use on hit?

It took an anime fighter to make me realize that I actually do like grapplers. I've just never liked any in NRS games.

So 16 offers me something new and exciting in that regard as well as being fun to play. He is absolute bonkers, that's undeniable, but for me personally (and likely a minority here), I've always thought exploiting busted stuff in fighting games was a huge part of the fun. Granted that the game's nature in itself already has an "over the top" feel.

Lol side note, I'm doomed to be a scumbag as well (as if that last paragraph helped my case xD). Characters I enjoy just also happen to be incredibly good. A.Gohan is my best and my mainstay so I just rotate Beerus, SS Goku, Black, and 16 in and out as I please.

I have found my true calling in DBFz.. Its not to win games, or play characters, or take tournaments or invent tech of combos.. Its to sit behind Kame House where the two bushes are on the left, and cycle through avatars then walk those avatars into the large bush, turn them around, and make them peer creepily out from the bush. I have seriously spent a few hours doing this if you add up all the time.

I have also found out the careful positioning of 1st from Cell backwards and various other avatars, make those avatars appear to have a penis that is poking out of the bush.. because 1st form Cell's tail looks quite a lot like a dick.

This is what i do with myself.

I am 35.

Not surprising considering the online doesn't work. Gotta find a way to pass time.

My Nappa avatar is pretty much perfect for face-swapping people in the lobbies, particular shout-out to a18 avatars everywhere... have a Nappa face.

Edit other than that, I look out over the precipice in Useless City, it’s peaceful o’er tha

Double edit, who’m I kidding, I never left the lab!

if you mean from whats in the gif, I just hitconfirm the first two buttons easily into j.MLL2H chase air combo and your ender for that depends if you make it to the corner or not.

If you mean other orb set-ups in general after a knockdown, it's generally only in the corner, 214M ender into air 236x held, to cover techs, orbs cover your techs and you can land IAD or just airdash in after the orb set.

Off you can use a 2H launch or bring Beerus someone who has one, for that HKD ender into 6 orb set-up.
It's basically this

https://twitter.com/sonicfox5000/status/956961149483970561?lang=en

there's a lot of mix-ups thats hidden in there, and you'll realise them if you teach yourself this sequence.
the problem is they can just take the hit on reaction and airdash out, thats why I use this oki with Goku Black assist as it pulls them back down even if they up-tech and you wait and hitconfirm easily if they try that. Him Goku and Vegeta are the only ones I found that make this a lot more real, and Vegeta can be actually airdashed as well.

Perfect, covered all of what I meant. That corner sequence looks the shit too. Nice one.

Ok, so... there’s no way to convince anyone, but I got a clip of what I thought was the block issue. The clip shows me blocking high at the last moment then shifts to low (to late lol), but I distinctly recall changing my mind from using lvl1 super to guarding low. Just curious if there’s a precedent to a kind of autocorrect so 6>1 registers as 6>4 (horizontal), can’t think of any reason for it anyways...

I’m aware I’m basically providing a clip and saying “don’t believe it, believe me!” So I don’t expect that at all lol. I’ll hold this fail... hardly cost me, I was kinda playing with my food.

Anyways... for the curious and the dubious alike....

It’s really hard for me to learn new characters when my team is so strong and works so well. Like, I wanna learn the cast so I know what they can do so it helps with MU knowledge, but that would be pretty much the only reason. My team fits me perfectly.

A.Gohan is essentially a UMK3 character (with his insane block pressure and damage). And I absolutely love how he’s the only character that can power up gradually and keeps his powerups the entire match until he dies.

Vegeta has always been my favorite DBZ character so the fact that he’s actually good solo and has the best assist in the game is perfect.

Goku Black is an edgelord but he’s probably my favorite DragonBall villain of all time. And he’s so good in this game and all of his moves look incredible.

And then you put these characters together and they just flow so well with one another. It feels like I learn something new about the game and my team every time I play. I know this is kinda a pointless post, just expressing my satisfaction so to speak.

I am definitely going to use (or at least try out) all DLC though. Definitely gonna have a Vegito team if he actually ends up being DLC as the leaks suggest.

I'd suggest branching out a bit if even just in practice. I've recently been trying out a few different characters and really enjoy Gotenks. Fun little ball of energy.

is this game easy to pick up or is there a huge learning curve?
Umm I'd say no but my advice and I'm still pretty bad is learn it right the first time. The game is so chaotic and fast paced I routinely go back to old habits that I crammed in so i could play online or to play in the tourney they had on release. I really have to be think to use vegeta assist rather than launch. So my advice is take some time then dive in.
