Watch Apologyman, he plays point Piccolo with assists to cover his mixups and for extensions.
Sure Reality stone assist is good but don't forget that you switch a lot in this game anyway so in theory you will get to use your team in all sorts of orders throughout the match.

DONT EVEN PUT THAT IN FUCKING EXISTENCE! See, this is what Uncle JBeezY has been worried about and thinking this through in my mind, "I hope nobody gets nerfed." Because there is no need ANY nerfs at all! Everybody is good in their own way, fo realz! Kid Buu has one of the best pressure in the game, YES! BUT he can be beat. So dont be doing that shit calling for nerfs. Very scrubby, discouraging, and rather distasteful.

This ain't NRS, Arcsys doesn't give 2 shits about complaints, people have been bitching about Eddie for what 10-20 years now and they still make him grimy and broken af.

Plus if anyone is on the chopping board I think it's Vegeta's assist and maybe Gohan and Cell.
No one "feels" broken but there are a few OD tools here and there which is really good for a first version of the game and no patches.

So I’ve been playing against “opponents stronger than you”, and I’ve come across 2 pink squares so far (on XB1). The first one was “UnknownThaGod” and he bopped my first character then I started coming back and adapting and then he barely won. Doesn’t rematch. Very lame.

Second pink square was “Hit” aka “Sm0oth Legacy” and I was doing very well against him. As soon as I killed his second character, rage quit.

My question is, how am I supposed to rank up my square when everyone I play who is a higher rank either ‘one and done’s’ me or rage quits as I’m about to win?

I guess there’s no real way to punish rage quitters. Because they don’t know if they quit or the server disconnected them. But it’s still very frustrating. Like I play super “seriously” against these guys, full on tournament mode engaged... then I get zero reward from it.

Not THAT big of a deal, just venting.

Yep, at this point if I see a pink square it's a ragequitting masher. So far I've only fought 1 legit pink square player out of the 20/30 I've played.

Well...thats kinda good to know ?Question mark? The only thing i do see thats super OD is Cell's damn near infinite combo loop against the corner. But i doubt anything about that will be done. So just dont get fucked.

What's weird about this is that almost every fighting game I can think allows this shit at release, then fixes the systems later..

I really feel like someone should design a solid online from the beginning.

Not trying to jump on a hate train here or anything, it's just that.. these issues keep happening in games and they keep being this huge deal that the dev gets pressured to come in and fix asap, at the risk of bleeding players.. then lots of little fixes trickle out and invariably at least one makes things worse, and we have this weird repetition of events..

Its just weird. I can see it being a time constraint issue - and totally understand. It's just weird to see these exact same mistakes made by almost every single game.

Well for starters let's make sure that finding matches vs friends is so weird and arcane that you have to Google how it's done the first couple times you try.

I put the dogs on him, then we sued him for the vet bills and checkup they needed afterwards.. then a damn systems programmer mentioned the code to back it up.. so I took off my left sock, shoved the offices whipping midget in there and beat him to death with it. We did promote the guy who designed the script that automatically ran through every interaction in the game except the gameplay itself and added a minimum of one extra, needless, step. That man's going places.

As to balance, I dunno. It's still too early tell at all. People will always whine and scream, but like Admiral said, Arcsys isn't a heavy patch studio. I think this game is going to be an exception though.. the subject matter is a world of business entities unto itself with powerful people in control of the rights, and it's my guess that Arc can be pressured from it's partners. That and the
nature of FGs has simply shifted. It's not as hands-off as it used.to be. Who knows though, we'll see.

I think the game is in it's infancy, and in a team/vs game balance is handled differently of course..

But just off the top of my head, I think that Adult Gohan is doing a few things that maybe are a little over the top lol.. and I play him.

Black being on every team ever doesn't honestly feel like it's because he's just too good exactly, but just that he covers so many angles he's just a better.choice. but team composition and such will change and bend and we may see him phased out a little bit.

I main Kid Buu and I'm assured (usually by other Kid mains lol) we are playing at fair and balanced character with strong weaknesses. I'll take everyones word for it, and keep on doing shit that makes me just stare at the screen and say 'yep. I am the best'.

As you should. U dont see other gamers telling pros how "fair" to play. They will find the dirtiest, nastiest broken setups/moves for each character. Kid Buu is a bully so use him as such. And if anybody is telling u how u should NOT utilize his best moveset, FUCK EM! FUCK EM AGAINST THE WALL!

Still struggling with this game i love it played mainly story mode and arcade ive played 15 online matches now and lost every single one lol i jus cant seem to get away from pressure i block then when i think i can get in i get fucked up and im jus watching them feck me up for like 30 ssconds before it goes again lol im such a nooob but i am enjoying trying to learn its a whole new world for me

Seriously, this is the right general attitude. It's rough as hell starting out and anime fighters can be particularly rough because of the crazy nature of the game.

Can I make a small suggestion? This is going to sound really scrubby, but hear me out.

Go online and play a couple matches without blocking.. seriously. Just go ham and eggs and on the opponent. Stick to auto combos unless you have your mains stuff really down.

Seriously.

Try that out for a couple matches and see if your success rate increases some.

This isn't how you learn to.play 'right'.. and it's not something you want to do normally, but going ham and eggs snakeshit helmet and a handler crazy can help to get your mindset right. Cause mindset shifts are super important for these kinds of games.

It’s probably a bit early to ask for nerds anywhere, but if you told me I had to pick right now which characters would need nerfs I’d say Black, Kid Buu and A Gohan. They feel just a head higher than anybody else

Current opinion among better players is that Eddie is currently low tier, struggles in many match ups and doesn’t really dominate anywhere. I get what you’re saying but that wasn’t a great example lol

That sounds like another way of saying he’s too good lol. Honestly, Black is insane right now. Insane reach on his normals, great projectile game, excellent mobility, multiple different mixups and ways of opening people up, more damage then most characters, can play any position, Supers that work anywhere, and an assist that’s trying for best in the game. There’s not a team in the game that he doesn’t have to be considered for an I think he’s the number one character that needs to be looked at right now. Just look at SS Goku, a character who is also top notch on his own, and this is a character that is almost just a flat better version of him in so many ways that people are usually only takin Goku if they already have Black. I think he definitely needs to be looked at

I know what you mean i have done it when im on ny last character and get rage and start smashing buttons and as you say it sortof worked weirdly like i actualy got a few hits in but it feels false doign it like that if you get me im not saying that im good or that i shouldnt be loosing i jus think theres a steap learning curve from being bad and good theres not really a middle ground on injustice i played about 200 games online and i won around half of those games i didnt know full on combos but jus waiting and using the right attacks at the right moment maybe iv got to get into going ham like you said [emoji108][emoji106]

Ah that’d explain it. Yeah it’s a recent thing. People feel like it’s basically aimed at Ogawa lol because nobody else could do what he does. BUT like anybody else in GG it’s relative Zato still more than capable of taking games off anyone quite easy. He just doesn’t get much freedom or room for mistakes anymore afaik. I don’t play him myself. And I still most certainly get destroyed by him all the time lol

Not retuning a game from release state levels of balance is the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard in 2018, we aren’t in the arcades anymore.
Top players can use anybody they want, Sonic used Joker. This doesn’t change my opinion. There’ll be a top player for every character in every game. Use the brain and powers of critical thinking god gave you. I watched Rebelo playing SSB Vegeta and it confirmed exactly how he felt, he won his games and was clearly a better player than his opponents, yet stil got zero mileage off any of that character specific tools, didn’t get a single cnd grab once, and basically only thing he could do was try zone with Big Bang, which obviously isn’t real at all.

Also, Goku Blue is strong, obviously so. Dunno who has said otherwise

This whole auto combo extension mid-air is blowing my mind. Time to practice this with all the characters I'm interested in.

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to settle on Trunks as my main guy for now. Yamcha and Android 21 are cool and all, but I feel like they're characters I'll go back to once I get the fundamentals down.

I sort of feel like there is a huge discrepancy with the assists in this game. Some are way better than the rest. It feels like you're sort of pigeonholed into picking certain characters because their assists are just too useful for your point character. Does anyone else feel this way?

Edit: For you Trunks mains out there, how do you use him? Point, mid or anchor?

Yeah, I realized after I wrote it that I effectively said "Its not that hes too strong, its just that he's too strong" lol. What I was trying to say and failed, was that what makes him overwhelming is that he fits anywhere and does anything, not necessarily that he is overwhelmingly powerful in the way A.Gohan might be. He's still too good obv but its more like a Supergirl scenario in that he just does everything well and seems to deal with everything atleast reasonably well.

The usual disclaimer that this is all early impressions and I'm not calling for any specific changes - just discussing the state of the game as it seems to be right now.

As to Kid Buu being strong - nothing to see here, move along. Nothing. To. See. Here.

Yeah I realised it probably didn't sound like that in your head, but I had to have a chuckle at how it came out. "He's not too strong, he's just a better choice than everyone else"

I do get what you meant though and I'd actually probably agree with that if the character in question was SS Goku, but Black just has so much dirt man even with a shit assist he'd be a threat

Yeah, I just suggested it as a means to sort of.. experience the other side. Ive played anime fighters (not at any special level) off and on since I started fighting games (I secretly wish I had found anime fighters first, lol) and one thing I see constantly when people come in to them from other games, is just the wrong mindset.

Defense in anime fighters isn't nearly as specific.. grounded blocking is almost a last resort, and if you find yourself in a defensive, grounded position often, then movement might be something to concentrate on. These games have a HUGE number of mix options.. even characters that arent considered mix heavy.. have heavy mix, lol, and IAD's mean crossups can come FAST and often, and then empty crossup lows and jumpover dash back cross-up cross-ups on top of normal OHs, OH specials, assists.. Blocking is dangerous, lol.

Point. He has good rushdown, some frame traps afaik but trouble finishing with big damage (unless specifics like in the corner). He’ll build that crazy meter for your team.

I’ve been using him as a point. Build all that meter for A Gohan and go ham with potential unleashed lol.

Fair enough.

I REALLY like the character but I cant bring myself to play him.. I thought I had gotten over it, then I watched NLBC and WNF and he was on at least one team, often both, so dam often I just was so tired of seeing him by the end. lol. I mean, my other choice is Adult Gohan so its not like Im breaking new ground here, lol.

My team is cheap and broken right now.. A.Gohan - 21 - Kid Buu. Right now that's the order, but I feel like I can do almost any order with this setup.. 21 on Anchor doesnt seem great, but otherwise *shrug*. Of course, I have built this with no thought to synergy or anything.. Just found characters I enjoy playing and I'm hoping to find the synergy after the fact, lol.

Kid has synergy with about anyone due to his assist. I'm not sure how to use Gohan's assist yet except as a "get off me move" and 21's assist is 'ok' and used for the usual stuff.. covering approach or adding some extra shit to worry about in neutral with pressure/crossups/etc. But I'm not trying to win evo here, just have fun and be reasonably effective.

I have thought about 18 instead of A.Gohan.
